  • Knocked the dust off the old longbow. These type bows have a flat handle and require a flat palm, low wrist grip. This brings the arm closer in line to the bow string path and along with the lower brace height longbows have, can increase the chance of the string striking your bow arm upon release. The pluses of a long bow is that there is no string stacking, more forgiving on less than stellar release, and they are amazingly quiet. The down sides are they are much slower than a recurve, they tend to lung forward in the hand (hand shock?) a short brace height to strike your arm, and they are extremely LONG. My recurves are 48 to 60 inches. This longbow is way longer....
