- when i tell you i was overwhelmed watching this show, i was OVERWHELMED. a lot of the reaction was me just freaking out or yelling names so that might be why some moments that you expected are not there. but in the future i will try to be more composed so i have more coherent commentary lol

honestly the bar was pretty low in terms of adaptation goes with the movie lol but even beyond that it's near perfect!
Read the 5th book, not because it's essential, but because it's a really good ending to the percy jackson story before Heroes of Olympus starts
In my opinion, I've read almost all rick riordan books, they're all great, but to atleast finish the greek mythology section, one should always read in this order- percy jackson, heroes of olympus, and then finally end it with trials of apollo. Now the other two series, magnus chase which is norse mythology (good job if you recognise the surname), and kane chronicles which is Egyptian mythology, i loved all of them tbh, tho obviously every one of these comes after you finish the 5th book

Chalice of the Gods takes place between book 5 of (Heroes of Olympus) and and Book 1 of (trials of Apollo)
Something that irks me in an odd way, is how it seems like Percy was coincidentally kicked out of Yancy right before the quest and the Summer Solstice… It’s not impossible I suppose if his school goes into June (I don’t know how American schools schedule their years, I’m a dumb Aussie), but it really makes me wish there were like 10 episodes so we could use an entire extra just for being at Camp and feeling like he’s been there a couple of weeks.
Fun fact, but the actress for Nancy Bobofit auditioned for Clarisse; she lost out to Dior Goodjohn (rightly as Dior already has the later depths seeded in her performance), but I feel the runner-up was good enough that I hope she’ll get a fruitful career. I also really like Charlie Bushnell as Luke; they set up his sympathetic traits really well to make the reveal powerful.
And of course the leads are excellent. So is Chiron’s actor, Glynn Turman - incidentally, he’s actually a trained equestrian who runs camps teaching kids to ride horses, but ironically they didn’t know this when they cast him. He even chose the horse which plays Chiron’s horse half.

Sally arguing back with Gabe i think was more making Sally be the Queen Poseidon says she is. Also i think she was talking to him when sitting in the rain after seeing episode 7

It was super fun watching your reaction! I've read all 10 books, and I'm really excited about the future seasons. That is, if we end up getting them at all. Honestly, I have no idea how they're going to adapt 10 books into 10 seasons so that Percy and co still look like teenagers in the last season. Because obviously it takes time to film everything and stuff.
Also, sometimes I felt like they were just dumping a lot of info on us through dialogues, which we were supposed to learn naturally in the books instead. But that's probably the only thing I didn't really like about this adaptation. It just felt a bit rushed so far. But still, I've got high hopes for this series!
But the book moves pretty fast paced too so that's accurate 🤷🏾♀️
10 seasons would be a dream but totally agree with you on the info dump part! i'm guessing it would be cheaper for the studio and easier to understand for a larger audience but hoping they dive deeper in future episodes about more of the lore and what percy naturally discovers in the book throughout the quest

also, agree with you. Many book fans don't like the changes but for me it was more make sense. For example, the mom and gabe. The book were written in 2000- and sally is more passive but we heard from percy that she always fight in her own way such as keeping her last name, always bake and make blue foods bcs gabe said blue food doesn't exist. Oercy said that sally has rebelious nature just like him. So the way they potray her like this is so true to the book! Bcs they can't just show percy's thought how rebelious her mom is but to show us what kind of person she is. And it also fits gabe. I don't know about how people said he is nit that horrible but he is still abusive the way he likes to control sally and percy's life. And we probably getting more of gabe in later episodes. And you said about how in the book percy describes as a failed 'product' in school i do agree those reasons just don't make sense and if tehy put that in screen, it will just turn out as another mid show of troubled teenager. I like they change it that way. Also, when grover betrayed percy by admitting his doing to nancy, remember how oercy feel betrayed by grover in the book! When percy heard grover and mr brunner's conversation about him! He was really hurt bcs he is the only friend he had, so upset that he left grover when grover supposed to go home together with him but percy left him.
They added how betrayed percy feels bcs of grover and i love it!
They also change in episode 2 on how luke is more closer to percy than the book, and show annabeth in the middle to gave shock factor. I like that too. Percy also show his sillines ehen he's alone and the fight scene is really nice. I love how they don't make him get into the water first to show that percy on his own is pretty strong and tallented. I also like how realistic the fight is. If you look back the fight in the movie, the fight scene is horrible. In here percy is struggle but as times goes he is getting better, the way he dodge and slash the other kids is nice too. Show us how he is not know much about the technical sword fighting but more on how fast he react when people come to him. It looks liek a natural talent than practice and again, i love it!.
yes! the fight scene was everything and cannot wait to see how else they show percy and honestly the rest of the campers skill sets/characteristics as demi gods, especially how it relates to their olympian parent
By sixth book you mean Chalice of the Gods? It takes place in between Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo from what I hear (I'm not there yet, on book 5 of Heoroes of Olympus) so I'm not sure you should read that unless you've read the others, or at least Heroes of Olympus.
have not read the heroes of olympus or trials of apollo but will def check those out!

Yep, this is a really good adaptation.
From where are the becoming at age books are started… it’s worth reading Ursula Le Guin’s Earthsea cycle. Consider it as the Lord of the Rings of books for kids. No kidding, in quality and impact on the genre.
