Beautiful video for the best guitar player on Earth 🌍 👽🌍👽! Eddie will be the guitar king forever, no one in our age has even come close to the 6-string wizard.
Edward is my main guitar hero and always will be. I’ve learned so much about his determination and just how much he loved the guitar makes me love my own guitars a lot more. He lived and breathed music, staying up at 3 in the morning just playing riffs, always encouraging kids and adults to keep playing, and everything else. He not only put in the work ethic but he was like a little kid in a candy store every time he played something or found something new. Ever since his passing, my love for Van Halen sky rocketed even though I loved them a lot in the first place. My love keeps growing every time I hear new information. If I could see anyone perform one last time, out of all the musicians. I would just like to see Eddie being a little kid onstage feeling the music and him effortlessly playing the guitar. Not a lot of people really understand how determined he was and how much he lived a life full of music and how much he loved his guitars.
I had the joy of seeing Edward play live a dozen or so times. No doubt in my mind he was put on earth to play guitar and create music. You just had to experience him to grasp it. One of a kind for sure. RIP EVH YOUR MUSIC LIVES ON!! Thank you!!!
@@alenelevin1757 I was lucky I was in the Marines stationed near LA and SD so I used to see VH several times a year in the early 80s. That’s when they were at their peak. Saw the, many times afterwards but it could not compare to back then. US Festival was epic they headlined and were so fucked up but it was still fun. Check it out US festival Van Halen.

Incredible job on this Gair. It brought a tear again. It was a real pleasure and treat to meet you today and share some stories. Now isn't that what it's all about? Connection through our stories. Take care and hopefully we have more chances to share more stories.
Well spoken and such a legend. His music and inspiration will last another 200 years. I would say RIP but I already know he's jamming, having a good time, and looking down at us all in peace. So, with that, thank you, EVH!
Fantastic and tear-jerking. I myself am a 57-year old musician, a keyboardist, who's always served behind in someone else's shadow, never pursuing my own project ... until this year. I'm recording my own solo album, something I NEVER thought would happen, but it IS happening now, in my heart I know it's gonna be wonderful, and NOTHING is stopping it. For the first time, I AM conquering said "imposter syndrome" and yes, pushing through all the horrendous self-doubt and fear that went with that for decades. Just like Eddie's -foundation: instead of "WHY?" .. it's "WHY NOT?" Eddie isn't just living on in our hearts as a legend. He's living on as a PIONEER. And the thoughts you've outlined here, will be decades from now, what he'll more than anything else - on top of being one of the greatest players in history - be remembered for. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I cannot tell you how classy that video is. Amazing spot on characterization of a true savant. I would like to add something that to me makes this man so enduring, and that is his incredible humility. A kind and gentle soul, giving, humble, and a great father. Did he have his issues? Sure, but who doesn't. What a great video, and one I will bookmark and watch many times over I'm sure. Bless you man.
The man is a MONSTER. Like Mozart. A beautiful amazing music maker. Thank you so much for the memories. I can recall the day my brother and I rode our bikes to a record store splitting the cost of VH1 on cassette. 11 years old .
A very comprehensive (for it's length), honest, and inspirational look at arguably the greatest guitarist who has ever lived, and his role in inventing the technology, playing style, and sound behind one of the top rock bands of all-time, the legendary Van Halen. Thank you! My only criticism of this both beautifully produced and wonderfully and emotionally narrated video is the choice of the word "lonely" more than once in your script [i.e. "...no one can ever say that Eddie didn't put in the 100,000 hours of relentless, lonely work..."]. Having the honor of both spending some time around Ed, and listening to hundreds of hours of interviews with him throughout his career, I don't recall him ever using the word "lonely", or his long hours of 'lonely practice" at the foot of his bed. I remember hearing lots of stories of King Edward Van Halen being ALONE with his guitar, they are almost mythical. I have never heard, and can't imagine one story of Ed being LONELY with a guitar.
I knew Eddie was one of the greatest the first time i heard him back in 78 in fact i think i told my friend that introduced Van Halen 1 back when VH 1 first hit the music scene, God Rest you Eddie Van Halen, i love and miss you like my own brother.
Gair... Josh.... I am speechless. Your work continues to be insanely magnificent. What a phenomenal piece you put together. So well spoken. Hats off to you!!

I seen Van Halen in 82 and 86 the 82 show I can remember the audience was silent during his solo not out of boredom but in awe of what we were hearing I could not say any better sorely missed but I can imagine that gig in sky with all the greats ,
So far sir, YOU have done the justice that Edward Van Halen fans, and especially super fans needed to hear and see, THANK YOU.... LONG LIVE EDWARD VAN HALEN

Anyone who is in business or who is looking for inspiration, this is totally the place to go! Gair, you spoke so elegantly with respect and admiration. Thank you! Thank you Mr.Gair for a wonderful tribute to Edward. I like you was an instant fan in the Winter of 1978. I was 11 then and I knew from "Eruption" that this guitar player would change Rock music forever.
His music was the shit to learn if you had the chops! As a songwriter I hear what beautiful and complex chord progressions he played sometimes just blowing my mind , especially with headphones! Everything I write today has a piece of Ed in it! It's just pure perfect and sexy as fuck!! He did it his way!! Thanks Ed! Peace brother
This is exactly why I will never hear anyone out when they try to tell me Slash, Clapton, Page, or anyone else is/was better than Eddie. He was absolutely 1 of 1, in a category of his own. We will never see this level of greatness or trailblazing in rock n roll ever again. He’s the best to ever do it, and he always will be.
Eddie and Van Halen were and will forever be bad-ass, and so is this presentation. Thank you, Gair for putting in the time, work, and love in creating this great presentation. It gives me chills to think about Eddie, every day, and this super presentation is a salve for me, and his other fans, and a way to ease our aching hearts. RIP EVH
I love the joke: Neighbour calls the police to complain about the apartment upstairs playing Van Halen at full volume. The officer tells the neighbour to stop complaining and hangs up. Eddie was a musical genius. One of the great composers of our time.
You hear the term God in every facet of industry " he's a rock God or she's a rock goddess " but Eddie was truly a "Guitar God" not only did he build his guitar but mastered it and the profession, he said the reason he always smiled so much on stage was because " the record company couldn't fuck with him up there" could you imagine what he could do if they would have let him be Ed. My heart goes out to Alex for having to lose his brother, band mate and best friend, and to Wolf for losing his father (first and foremost). R.I.P. Such a great emotional tribute!! Loved this! I remember hearing VH for the 1st time back in 1978. I was literally blown away! I kept playing eruption over and over thinking that guy is super sonic fast. How is he doing that sound?? What an amazing time! Disco was fading out, hard rock and punk were in. Who knew Eddie would change the landscape of how a guitar should be played? Which that change, made so many groups up their game! The transformation of punk, hard rock into metal. By 1980 and 81 we had metal music at the forefront. A lot of people will argue that Van Halen wasn't metal?? I'm like...obviously you never listened to or paid attention to the songs...."On Fire"? "Somebody Call Me a Doctor"? "Lighting Up the Sky"? "D.O.A."? "Atomic Punk"? Van Halen was way ahead of it's time! Obviously? Look at the little skit in Back to the Future, when a cassette is played of EVH from Marty McFly (Darth Vader) to his dad (George McFly) as a comparison of space alien comic book. It's really going to take a really, really unique guitarist to ever surpass Eddie Van Halen. Which I don't think will ever happen! It's been 44 years since 1978 and no one has stood out or surpassed him yet? R.I.P. EVH! Thanks for your gift of great music during my youth!
