ohh right i thought they were limited, so said the dvd i watched. Thanks for clearing that up, i wanted to go to the Oulton Park day but was a leeds fest, would love to hear the sound of em all been beasted!
Nice video Kev. About time we got a little update in Torque magazine on the T16, especially if it is featuring in a new game ;) Hopefully we will see it in action at Pugfest this year! (sorry for the plug Kev!)
The engines were immensely strong. The block was supposed to be based on the then new XUD diesel engines, which as many owners of road going Peugeot/Citroen diesels will tell you would run for eternity even as the car fell apart around it. My old man's '89 405 did 300k miles and there was zero wrong with the engine when the car was binned, still started immediately and purred smooth as a kitten. 300bhp at the wheels would probably equate to something like 370bhp at the flywheel what with the greater losses from the 4wd system. The Evo 2's were a bit more powerful, the last of line works 'power rally' variants pushing at least 450bhp.
Group B is complete and utter car porn. Were you running it on pump fuel? I love the slowly sideways group for keeping GRP-B cars going, shame their limited though now, though like yours you probably wouldnt get long before rebuild at full power
This kasabian song is really COOL thou..We had no control of the song for the footage..The guys at the power run station added the song to make it you tube material i guess..But that's COOL!!
I have an official history book explaining the birth of peugeots group B projekt up to the end of the 1985 season. Up on till this point the max reliable tuning they did on "power" stages were 436 hp. I don´t have any official numbers from 1986 season though ... does anyone know ?
I have read they had 550 on pikes peak with the Yellow Camel T16 but if they would ever push it that far on a rally stage I don´t know. Cool car anyway !
@kevfurber Hmnn, in another video here on youtube, where Stig Blomqvist drives several of these cars, it is explicitly stated several times that the BHP is restricted for these cars nowadays. Is this not the case?
Yeah. The Peugeot was already decimating the competition with only 350 horsepower in 1984, but they had to keep ramping up the power to remain competitive.

What a load of bullocks ollyb360. No CTI or other road 205 has a turbo. CTI had either a 1.6 180Z or B6D code or a 1.9 DFZ code engine with normal intake. And heywaslauftmann, it's not recommended to add a turbo to a DFZ as it's a low-emission, low-compression engine. Better mount an XU10T from a 405 T16 which is a much more hassle-free conversion.
I remember as a kid sitting in the co-drivers seat tuning this magnificent machine in NZ.
I think we still have some bits for it lying around.
Awesome car, Awesome bid, and i love the fact this car gets used properly too, nice one Kev!

love how the manifold goes white at the last one and catches fire all the time
Always thought the off set engine a bit of an odd build, what a car though 👌
beautiful video
this is nice, the owner didnt gave the car to them with normal turbopressure...
for this beast has over 550 BHP
not 306..
worth about 300.000 euro's
LOVE THIS CAR ._. !!

based on a diesel engine?
The cast iron block was, indeedy.
Oh yes! The D6C block used in 206 WRC too :)
Damn, that tells you how good Peugeot was back in the day. Now both their cars and the people who drive them are both God awful. What a shame.
the name of this vidio describes it as an E1 but it has E2 bodywork
0006super I was thinking the same thing!
Yes but the motor its E1
@kevfurber awesome car, was this filmed in northamptonshire?? also the 205 on the closed road, was that in northamptonshire also?

Are there any company's that make a mid engined t16 replica with a turbo engine?
Or that sell t16 (not dimma) original or replica panels?

Allan johnsen I remember Peugeot, Lancia, Ford and Audi were all pushing around 550-600 horsepower in 1986.

boosra Are you serious? No, I mean it. Are you serious? All limited? Wow...
Never official Peugeot said anything about more than 400+ bhp but the reality was over 550-560bhp ;)
CTI should have turbo already.
they have the same engine as in the GTI's 1.6 or 1.9
a t16 making only 302bhp.. whats going on there? also, no need for kasabian when the cars providing all the music we need!
... .. Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .
at max boost it would've put out nearly 550 almosts as powerful as the Quattro but it didnt need to be, it was smaller and lighter
