I think it is a good filter to figure out who is capable of directing a movie, and most importantly how do these directors get along with the Lucasfilm's creatives and execs.

Some of my favorite directors include Nolan, Villeneuve, Waititi. These are all brilliant directors, but I think Taika would be the best fit. Star Wars needs a combination of humour and gravitas, some lightness and some darkness, and Taika is one of the very few directors who can balance that.

I’m down for it to be honest. All the people who say they don’t want “MCU” humor fail to realize that Star Wars always had cheesy humor. Now the prequels were devoid of fun and humor and that’s why I personally didn’t care for them not enough life in the movies just way to serious.(love the prequel memes tho) Anyways yeah I think he can do this franchise justice that the a majority of fans will probably enjoy.

He is good for a one off Star Wars movie but not a main trilogy film. He doesn't have the ability to fully take a film seriously and thats what Disney Star Wars needs right. Someone has to take it seriously, because Kathleen, JJ, and Rian never did.
Having a good director is one thing but its the people who write the stories and that is why the sequel trilogy is branded as a failure, the first movie of it was a copy of the original, the second film was poorly written, the third film could not benefit from the second film due to have bad it was written! Story comes first, Hollywood needs to learn that lesson again!
