I did cook it on the stovetop since I was being impatient. It is by far my favorite recipe ever right now! I just did this “chicken and dumplings recipe” with a tad bit of added seasonings and I minced 4 garlic cloves and it turned out so perfect, thank you! You are an amazing cook! You make it so simple and straight to the point, that is what we all love. There is no confusion or random talking. Which even if you did some extra talking or told a story relating to the recipe, I’d still watch. I’ll be a life long subscriber. You are so sweet and seem so genuine. 💗 I hope you never stop making videos.
I added sautéed onion & celery & honey baked carrots. I used honey Grands biscuits for the dumplings. I baked creamed corn cornbread. My family really enjoyed dinner tonight. Ty for the Recipe 😋

My adult daughter's favorite meal of all time is chicken & dumplings! I used to make dumplings with Bisquick & drop them by tablespoons into the sauce. However, this looks much easier & less time consuming! Will definitely try it! Thank you!

I tried your chicken and dumpling crock pot recipe and added 2 carrots peeled and cut in medium slices and 2 potatoes peeled and cut in 4 pieces each. I made a mistake and forgot to stretch the biscuit dough thin and only sliced it in thin strips. It was delicious. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us. You're an angel.
Oh my goodness, I've never made chicken and dumplings but tonight I turned into a pro. Your recipe was so easy to follow and when it was done, it was well worth the wait. 😋 My granddaughter had two bowls and she really loved the broth bc it was so thick and creamy. Thanks for this smart, simple recipe, especially the use of canned bisquit dough. If you like a higher dumpling to chicken ratio, it seems you might be able to make put in all 8 biscuits (cut into strips) and leave out the meat until the dough is cooked through. Of course, that means the chicken may have to have be cooking in the stew for 6 hours already on low (instead of 5) before adding it back in to reheat it together with the cooked dumplings. Alternatively, 4 hours on high. Seems worth a try anyway.
This is so easy, yes liquid gold. Have everything for this one, I may add a few carrots, we love them in our chicken soup . Catherine another winner. Thanks so much for these easy crock pot recipes.

I made a hybrid Chicken & Dumplings yesterday in the slow cooker. I used this base recipe for the chicken and its 'gravy', and made the dumplings from the Cracker Barrel Copycat Chicken & Dumplings video. It was a hit! 💜

I do something very similar to this in a stovetop version, but the recipe calls for 1 large can of cream of chicken & 1 regular can of cream of Mushroom. Plus about 6 cups of broth and Reamers frozen noodles. It's soooo good! This looks delicious too. Thank you!

This looks oh so good! I'm definitely going to give your delicious recipe a try. My Mom always made drop dumplings, by dropping rounds of her dough batter into the boiling broth. They were fluffy on the inside & heavenly. She cooked them a certain amount of time with the lid on & again with it off. I've never seen dumplings that looked like noodles, but have heard of it here on UA-cam. It's a great idea. I love to learn new things. Thanks so much Catherine, you've got the best recipes. 💖
@SherrieScissorHands I’ve heard some say they put a little carrot in their chicken & dumplings, but not the potato. It sounds like a good idea though. Do you shred the potato too?
I have this in my crockpot as we speak. Used all the ingrediants in the video, but I added a can of cream of mushroom soup and increased all the other ingredients by half to cover the extra can of soup. Can't wait to see how it comes out!
I love making this in my slow cooker! I use cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups. Also, I add some mixed veggies in, too. If you want a little kick you can add Old Bay seasoning, too.... make is Maryland style!
My kids and I absolutely love chicken and dumplings. Usually, as you mentioned in the beginning, I set bone in chicken thighs to simmering on the stove for a good long time, then de-bone, then do the dumplings, etc. This sounds delicious and super easy. I think I’m going to make it tomorrow since I have everything I need for it. I think the only thing I’d change is instead of the salt and pepper, I’d add Tony’s Creole seasoning. It’s got the salt and pepper, but it also has red pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, etc. It just adds a slight kick. Yum! Can’t wait.

Catherine, I have a question. Twice I tried using the canned biscuits to make dumplings and both times, the dumplings just dissolved in to the gravy. What did I do wrong? I never have that problem when I make my own. This recipe sure looks delicious! Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you. ❤️🙏

I've made this before and it is delicious. I've made it with leftover rotisserie chicken which is even easier. This is my husband's favorite meal.

I definitely prefer the drop dumplings. My Mom made them like that too. I find the biscuit dumplings too doughy.
