For all those reading the comments. I never went to college or university, even though I was a straight A student and it was expected of me. The truth was I couldn’t afford it plus I didn’t know what I 100% wanted to do. Fast forward 11 years and I’ve produced two feature films which both are on Amazon prime with a third in the works; all self taught. I also have this UA-cam channel which has helped me in so many other ways. Sometimes it’s ok not to go with what’s expected of you 😉

This is amazing man! I have a quote i have started saying, “im not going to be held back from someone elses lack of drive”
Im sacrificing now and am on 2 shows on the radio, 1 im a co host the other is my own shows starting next friday. Some support, most laugh and have their opinions. People get so afraid of DOING because of others thoughts. Always have a plan and a backup plan. This clip is perfect advice brother! I know you have answered a couple of my messages before I’m a huge fan will always be and hopefully one day when im traveling the world our paths will cross. I wont plug my show here without approval.

Thanks for the advice brother. I’m studying maths, politics and biology at college in the UK, and to be honest I have no idea why I chose these subjects, or even academia as a whole. I love the outdoors, and my dream job is to be a park ranger. I’d been kind of conditioned since I started secondary education to think that I need to go to an academic college, we were never really told that much about the more vocational colleges/courses.
I’m still figuring it all out and kind of going with the flow at the moment, but I know that pursuing academia isn’t something that’s gonna bring me happiness.

The problem is for a lot of jobs you need the piece of paper to even be considered unless your prior experience is impressive.
I always hate when people use the line so and so dropped out of college and look at him. Like bro, you're not Elon Musk or Steve Jobs, Bill Gates etc.. Well maybe, you are.. but you have to be honest with yourself.

Apprenticeships are great for that. I got free college, money, experience and a job at the end of it. Kinda Wish I picked an apprenticeship in cardiology or something more profitable but still

If you have all the time in the world, you should be able to learn programming and even put up your work on github. It starts somewhere. Who knows? Maybe you can be the next Mark Zuckerberg.

I work in tech and can fully guarantee that if you have practical applicable skillsets in the coding, ux development, product design spheres and you have creative ways of proving these skills to would be employers in interviews, then you could have a ged and still be hired. Employers looking for prove-it skills generally don’t care where you learned it. Some of the most brilliant programmers I know don’t even have a single college credit.

Also if you change subject, don't be afraid to move the field entirely: Switched from History and Philosophy to Computer Science and altough hard, bc I had to retrain my high school math completely, it's a super fun choice

Been what a year since I've graduated then entered college but something that i was never taught was online classes yeah I could search up tutorials yanno but it wasn't the same and I felt so unmotivated cause everyone knew what was going on, I'm not the brightest guy so having classes and smart people being in them i felt stupid , I'd give a simple response well a typed response and my other classmates would give a paragraph as an answer! I'm like woah i instantly knew i couldn't keep up with them, then me being the '"brightest"" forgot to register again for the spring semester
I just wanted to be doctor or at least a nurse.

I dropped out of college. There's nothing wrong with learning of course but depending on what your goals are, school can be a hindrance. For something like web development/programming you don't need school. You just need experience and a portfolio of your work.

I wonder if there is a money difference if you have a degree? I am pursuing a CS degree now and I wish I just would have just continued learning C++ like I was doing when I was younger. Going to school when you're older can be so annoying.

@@cefb8923 I guess it depends. If you have a lot of experience under your belt already and have exceptional experience, I seriously doubt a masters or PhD would make a difference. If you're not that experienced, it might make a difference.

@@cefb8923 No. But I'm taking Udemy courses and I was reading about computer science stuff.

@@cefb8923 not sure about that field but I never finished college and in my case I should've stayed in college. I was a cnc technician making $30,000 a year when I could've started out at $100,000 a year.

Hey Chycho, quick question: I found some awesome music with an awesome backstory. I know you have done some music streams where could I drop in and suggest it and maybe tell the backstory?

    • @chycho

      Music! Yes please :)
We do have a Discord page with a Music folder where people are sharing a lot of great tracks. You are most definitely welcome to drop it in there, and would be greatly appreciated. Discord: discord.gg/MXmS7B9
