- Hey Homies,
I’m Imani, and I believe that it doesn’t matter if you rent or own; everyone deserves to love their home. That said, there are some interior design trends that simply need to stop and today, I want to share 4 trends I see all the time that I absolutely hate and wish people would stop doing. Let’s get into my list and the decor updates I think would serve you better.

Totally agree. I don’t understand wanting to hide the TV either. Those overpriced frame TVs aren’t fooling anyone.
I agree with you Imani, especially about the light bulbs and puck lights. Everybody I know throws them away when they die and buy new ones. Also YES, we know that it's just that one wall or one corner. Fooling no one. When I watch home tours, all I can think is, where do they put trash/recycling, dirty laundry, tools? Things that are not easy to hide. Also some of these hot vintage finds that people love that are only for decor and not for modern human use: fiberglass bucket/curved chairs (not comfortable), chairs made of strips of leather and metal (also not comfortable), those Danish sofas with brick shaped cushions (least comfortable) and those Thonet antique chairs everybody is crazy about?? Check the seat dimensions. Made for children and the very petite. Love the video Imani!!
Omg yesss! Let me start working on a part two 🖤
Phenomenal advice...as usual. I wholeheartedly agree about white walls being boring as hell; but, the same can be said about the gray trend that was so dominant for years! I DEEPLY DESPISE Gray walls and gray anything. I actually repainted the entirety of my Home on my own because upon purchasing it, all of the walls were either Gray or some utterly HIDEOUS shade of dull, flat, Cardboard box Brown. Color makes my heart sing! So true as well about not taking design and decor advice from people in much different income brackets and Home sizes! Thanks, Imani 🖤
Yes! Like, listen the interviews and the articles because they're fun and fascinating, but someone with a 6 bedroom apt. isn't worrying about the same stuff as you, so take the advice with a grain of salt.
I just want people to get more out of their spaces by doing what they want, not what people say looks good.
I wireless sconces and I love them. I have them for aesthetics. The light is bright enough to set a mood looks great, and yes I do charge my bulbs and it’s not a big deal.
How often do you charge them? DO they ever just go out? Maybe it's the ADHD in me.
Love the tip about the realistic aspects of living with a TV!!! This vid is wonderful because I hope people will listen to how important it is to take advice from someone whose lifestyle is matching theirs (which might not be to blow $250K on design).
Bingo! All advice (even mine) should be taken with a grain of salt
I’m with you on all of these. Specially the white on white on white rooms. I need color around me!!!
Love, love, love your advice.
Thank You🥰
I really like the hidden TV trend personally. Especially now that I have a studio, I don’t want my TV to be the focal point of my space because I know I’ll just sit around and watch tv all day. Unfortunately I can’t afford one of the fancy ones (plus I heard that you need a subscription service to get the art which is absolute madness) so I’m hoping to find a DIY solution.
That being said, the way you feel about the hidden TVs is how I feel about hidden kitchen appliances. I get it for things you don’t use regularly, but for the ones you use daily having to take everything in and out of a cabinet seems super impractical. And for what? All just so your kitchen looks empty? Couldn’t be me.
Happy to sit on my sofa and appreciate your complaining 😂
Totally with you on white walls and tellys that are bigger than their owners 😊
Hahaha! My people have found me
As soon as you said vignette decor, I was like THIS is why I subscribed 🤣
Keeping it real real 🙌🏽
Hahaha always
I’m loving your couch where can I find it and do it comes in other colors!
Its the Farlov. Ikea discontinued it sadly
I use the battery operated sensor puck light by the kitchen sink and in the closet. They work well there and also as a night light. I agree that they are not practical as a main source of light.
How often do you charge it?
All your points are very true and helpful thanks for sharing 😊
You are so welcome!
I’ve never understood the trend of hiding the tv. What’s wrong with having a tv if that’s what your wtching
That's my point - it's soooo weird
@@imaniathome I have never liked the tv to be visible and for me a tv cabinet was a must. When my daughter moved out I kept the cabinet closed and used a laptop. In my home now the tv is above the fireplace but is basically watched by my grandkids. It’s the Frame Tv. The downloaded photos definitely help to keep me from looking at an empty box. I also enjoy the variety of “framed picture” looks.
Love it !!!!!
That puck light ish got me! Never again. Couldn’t see & they died in like 2 weeks 🤬
Hahaha!
I’m struggling with a shade of rust with deep brown undertones for the walls. I can’t imagine white walls or spaces. Just no personality
Tv ‘s over fireplaces or mounted too high are ridiculous. I can’t afford a frame tv but they are attractive. I’m also against giant tvs in small rooms
Hi! New here watching!
Thanks for coming
