This is a very good tutorial - I've been struggling with custom bridges, and gave up long time ago ... but I'll try again, and I'm confident it will work this time.
Very impressed. This is a *really good* tutorial by all standards and all the routine and eloquence of hundreds of videos play out all in your favor. You are very good at this and it was fun to watch and listen to.
Very nice tutorial - very helpful for many people who are not very familiar with these mods. But I would give you only 4 of 5 stars for detailing. For the fifth star you should use _Network Skins (Mass Transit compatible)_ by _boformer_ to remove the lamp posts in the middle of the road, that are clipping with the bridge cables. At the moment I am not sure, but it might be possible to set lamp posts on the left and right side of the road - also with the same mod.
Last I read, No Pillars has conflicts with Network Skins, so switched skins off for this tutorial. The video was made last night so didn't have time to tweak and test.
Clipping lampposts? Not by BonBonB surely ... hahahaaaa . But I believe Network Skins messes up the game with the other mods that are used. It would be nice though if it would work.
*@BonBonB* This could be the reason. 😊 *@hendrik de jong* Ehh ... but they do. 😁 The problems (might) start when both mods would change/remove the pillars at the same time. I use both mods and I had never problems - but of course I look at their settings to be plausible. Quote: "[..] though it sometimes messes up the pillar selection"
Hmmm ... thank you! :-) i'll give it a try with the Skins mod - and without no pillars and then use move it to remove pillars. But I don't think I will do this in a map that I try to create - as I would have no idea how it would end up looking for people without the skins and no pillar mods. Move it works, so i'll stick with that.
I love these tutorials bonbonb. Practically all of the skilled C:S detailers(Strictoaster,Pres, etc.) don't do any tutorials on how they do stuff like this. This is very helpful! :)
Thank you BonBonB for helping to educate aspiring newbies. I really appreciate your instructions, tips, and your making the pros of the Cities Skylines community available to us mere mortals.
Having used a couple of custom bridges (but never attempted to make one - how??) I think most are created as electricity assets as these tend to be the most happy being placed on either land or water or a bit of both. A note that some bridges are also created as parks (potentially by less experienced creators), and these have potential to cause havoc with the terrain when they are moved around, or simply not work if not placed completely on water for example. Some bridges made as parks are still very nice however and can be made to work with a bit of patience. Note as a side effect, electricity bridges can act as, well, an electricity bridge in the game so you don't have to worry about running power lines across the river.
Very nice tutorial! You should do one (if you want) with multiple transport like road and train, road and tram, etc... I think it would help a lot of people :)
Thank you a ton for this. Subscribed and can't wait to go through the rest of the tutorials. Always thought the mod was broken when it didn't show the road with it.
Great Video! And I think bridges are under electricity because there is one wind turbine plant which allows placing in the water without road access => same with bridges' properties, so easier for moders. Just my thought
Thanks to you I now have build my first custom bridge across the big river next my newly build town (it's not yet a city). Just started with mods and it looks awesome already. Great start for expanding more. Thanks again, cheers:)
Indeed, but I would really like to know why all modders chose _electricity_ - there has to be a reason for that. And why bridges are not made as props? Nobody knows?
This is great, however, I can't access the electricity tab in the map editor, even though there are maps with custom bridges on the workshop. Any help?
Never expected to be giving Electricty advice to God. Yes, the Map editor doesn't have this; but you can still search for any subscribed item using the "Find It" mod from SamSamTS
Thanks! I found the problem, I recently unsubscribed from all assets and resubscribed but I forgot to subscribe to Find It. That would make sense. Whoops! Sorry to waste your time!
Can anyone please link the first bridge that BonBonb showed before changing to the other bridge? I tried a lot finding on the workshop but to no avail.
Hey Phil, I've had that myself in the past. Normally I just rebuild the road and try again and it usually works 2nd time. But I would suggest checking Move It's settings to ensure all required items are selected. You might also want to switch off "No Pillars" mod if you have it running, as that might be causing a problem. Hard to know without sitting at your screen, but I'm sure you'll find a solution. Oh, and naturally you can subscribe to pillars on the workshop and place them manually if all else fails.
Without checking and from muscle memory, I think you hold down the right mouse button while in Move It. Trying opening Options, select Move It from the left column, this will show you the controls. Simply select the asset, or assets, and use the rotate control.
I'm unsure as to what mods are available for consoles. My understanding is, sorry but no, but I'm only passing on what I've heard and this might be old or incorrect information
Hi BonBon. Love watching you videos. I play Cities Skylines on Xbox One and am just wondering if all the mods and extras you use would be available for Xbox users?
I've created my first map I'm actually proud of earlier today based off of things I've learned from your What Map series and some other Cities Skylines creators on UA-cam. Would just like to say thanks! I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind helping me with a bit of a silly question to help my Cities Skylines playing: what is a good but affordable gaming laptop that can handle the base game and mods? Now I know, I know... Laptop for gaming? And affordable? Bah! But I know they're out there. And I cannot get a desktop for (reasons) at the moment so... Any help?
I have a gaming laptop - and for this game it needs to be very powerful, and it will cost you a lot of money. As João said: second hand , because then you can get more power for your money. Second hand is scary, but you can buy them from respectable companies .. I would not buy them from a private person if I were you. Good luck! :-)
Cities: Skylines is more CPU and RAM hungry than GPU, so as long as you get something with around a GTX 1050 TI or 1060 (4 or 6GB) and at least 16 GB of RAM, and an 8 thread (4 core 8 thread, or 8 core) you will be fine on running the game. The problem comes when you expect this to be very cheap. One of the best deals around on something like this is something like the Acer Predator Helios 300, like found here: www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-7700HQ-1060-6GB-G3-571-77QK/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ for very close to $1000 when I wrote this. There's a great UA-cam channel called TechDeals that has reviewed this laptop quite thoroughly, and benchmarked gameplay on it on many games (I don't think CIties: Skylines was included, though).
Sharakkhal -- oh wow! $1,000 is...a bit too much for me. I might just have to wait for my current laptop to crash and look into a desktop or something.
Well, I cheated a little. I rehersed this build so I know exactly what I would be doing. And I did keep it simple too. Other than that, video magic :-D
I haven't used MOM for a while, since attempting a tutorial recording of the mod. All that said, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work with MOM.
.. "up a bit", "down a bit. "over a bit" etc .. This is all fine and dandy, but which buttons are you pressing and what are you clicking on to make things move and happen? .. For an absolute beginner, such as me, this is so confusing. I waste so much money getting nowhere, only frustrated.
Page Up and Page Down are what you are looking for. I do recommend mastering the vanilla basics before embarking on the modded game though. Its not a wonder you were confused. I've also done a few tutorials on Move It, the mod you'll be using during this project.
@@BonBonB Thank you. Yes, of course you're right .. But I've seen so many videos and I want everything .. and I want it NOW! 😁🤣 .. Patience is a virtue, I will endevour to be virtuous. I use a laptop (Asus ROG) so moving up/down with PageUp & PageDown keys was compounded by the laptop having shared keys. I'm getting there and taken some decent strides in the past few days, but still many, many miles to go. Your videos are most definately helpful and appreciated. My previous grump-mode was purely down to initial frustrations, so apologies if I came across poorly.
the game is pretty cheap and it's active modding community is one of it's biggest draws. Lack of features means you create a community who can put the features in. The game is very robust and shits on anything EA has put out. This is the Cim City we asked for.
This is a very good tutorial - I've been struggling with custom bridges, and gave up long time ago ... but I'll try again, and I'm confident it will work this time.
Can he build it? Yes he can
I think it uses the Eletricity because of the standard dam structure and other eletricity type of buildings you can put on the water.
Makes a lot of sense. We still need a sub-category though.
Electricity = Bridges = Mind Blown
A top 10 of these kinds of Easter eggs would be nice.
That's a good idea... now the pressure is on to come up with ten good ones. *thinking*
Very impressed. This is a *really good* tutorial by all standards and all the routine and eloquence of hundreds of videos play out all in your favor. You are very good at this and it was fun to watch and listen to.
Thanks Maines, appreciate the support

I try to add something different. I just need half the subs of Strict and I'd be happy :-D
Not that I'm not happy now, but I'd be MORE happy :-D
You’re BonBonB and you are very, very helpful!
Great video as always friend!
Also, nice choice of rocks to go under the bridge. :D
I try... and thanks.
Detailing as you can tell was just a throw away, I could have spent a couple of hours on this alone :-D
Thank you BonBonB for helping to educate aspiring newbies. I really appreciate your instructions, tips, and your making the pros of the Cities Skylines community available to us mere mortals.
You've very very welcome seawolf. Glad I can help :-)

Very nice tutorial! You should do one (if you want) with multiple transport like road and train, road and tram, etc... I think it would help a lot of people :)
I'll see what time permits
Yes bridges with tram, like the one between Strasbourg and kehl. It could be cool.
Thank you a ton for this. Subscribed and can't wait to go through the rest of the tutorials. Always thought the mod was broken when it didn't show the road with it.
Me too. Which is why the tutorial came to life. Glad it helped.
Great video and very thorough! Do you have any tutorials on tunnels?
Great Video! And I think bridges are under electricity because there is one wind turbine plant which allows placing in the water without road access => same with bridges' properties, so easier for moders. Just my thought

Hey worncif, those custom bridges really do make a huge difference don't they? I'm glad the video helped.
Finally an amazing tutorial on custom bridges. THANK YOU. Subscribed.
Have lots of fun :-)
I used both the Zolotoy and the Tempozan Bridge you see in this video in my city. Both bridges carries road and rail traffic
I flat out missed this tutorial B. Thanks. Good stuff.
Thanks MrV
which mod is that for the clouds
No mod on my computer, but there is one on the workshop: Cubemap Replacer
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1183931915
*Why* bridges are found in the electricity section? Is there a functionality needed, that only can be found in electricity buildings?
We NEED a bridges sub-category
Indeed, but I would really like to know why all modders chose _electricity_ - there has to be a reason for that. And why bridges are not made as props? Nobody knows?
It seems the closest thing to custom bridges that the game actually understands is custom hydro power plants. So it's a hack.
This is great, however, I can't access the electricity tab in the map editor, even though there are maps with custom bridges on the workshop. Any help?
Never expected to be giving Electricty advice to God.

Ha, no probs. Glad I could help
I LOVE your how-to videos!!!
I've got a few more on the back burner. And Skylines Talk.... and, you know, more than I have time to even think about :-D
Can anyone please link the first bridge that BonBonb showed before changing to the other bridge? I tried a lot finding on the workshop but to no avail.
Nice video tutorial, well done BonBon.
Thanks E.D.
BonBonB, are you like... The Bob Ross of Cities-Skylines?
I do like a happy tree :-)
I cant select the pillars once i move the road. What am i missing
Hey Phil, I've had that myself in the past. Normally I just rebuild the road and try again and it usually works 2nd time. But I would suggest checking Move It's settings to ensure all required items are selected. so is this the same concept as building a curved bridge?
Yes, there are curved bridge assets out there. Exactly the same. I just show the basics in the tutorials and leave the learning curve to you :-)
BonBonB, the Bob Ross of cities Skylines. :)
thank you BonBonB. I have been wondering how to do this for a while
Wow !
Again, thanks for this very helpful tutorial, you are very talented
Thanks. I try to help.
how are you rotating the asset before placing it down?
Without checking and from muscle memory, I think you hold down the right mouse button while in Move It. Trying opening Options, select Move It from the left column, this will show you the controls. Simply select the asset, or assets, and use the rotate control.
how did he raise the road? i have the mod but dont know how to raise
never mind, i should look further then the length of my nose. thanks all, great tutorial
Hahaha... no problem Lama. There are no stupid questions :-)
BonBonB that's a relief. I have my share of stupid questions in this life. Good day to you sir!
With this my cities will look nice.
Do it! :-)
Or should i build a map and include this... Good idea!
Thank you soooo much for your tutorials! just discovered them today and omg will they be helpful
Thanks for watching, Carlos
Are these compatible for concoles like XB1
I'm unsure as to what mods are available for consoles. My understanding is, sorry but no, but I'm only passing on what I've heard and this might be old or incorrect information
Hi BonBon. Love watching you videos. I play Cities Skylines on Xbox One and am just wondering if all the mods and extras you use would be available for Xbox users?
I don't own a console, but as I understand it there are no plans for adding modding to your version. I wish I had good news.
where did you get the rock props
Hi, Without checking, these are probably Czardus' Surface Rocks from the workshop.
I've created my first map I'm actually proud of earlier today based off of things I've learned from your What Map series and some other Cities Skylines creators on UA-cam. Would just like to say thanks!

Affordable only second hand any vaio i5 should do it if you dont play with a lot of assets.
I bought a mid range 'gaming laptop'. It's no good for gaming.

Cheers Randy. There will be more coming :-)
Thank you, it was really very helpful.
I definitely don't need Find It yet. I just started City Skylines and I'm loving it. :)
As you start dipping into the workshop for those essential things your city needs, suddenly Find It becomes vital :-)
Thx BonBonB however the nopillar mod does not work anymore only no zone
Deam u fast to build that mate))) I take few hours on this kind))) hole engineering process here. nice vid
Well, I cheated a little. I rehersed this build so I know exactly what I would be doing. And I did keep it simple too. Other than that, video magic :-D

Best Intro ...
Very handy
If it helps just one person :-)
Thanks BonBonB, really helped :)
