The museum was fascinating.. how wonderful to just find it in a beautiful little village, brilliant video as always. The tree chipper gave me a flashback to last Sunday when a neighbour who shall remain anonymous decided to mow and strip his garden at 7am !! I was furious and woke my partner to ask how he could sleep through the racket 🤣 see you next week.Sue

Once again a great blog. Love all the history and beautiful architecture. Yes, we would have moved too. Here in South African camping & caravanning circles, we have a "SWAMBO" = She Who Always Must Be Obeyed" - better known as The Wife ! 😂😂 I'm thinking Tricia is definitely a SWAMBO 😂🤣😂

Trisha goodness gracious your on holiday a long holiday. Your bound to be woken up now and then at some point earlier than you’d like!
You are traveling out of season and therefore places are doing maintenance now, ready for when it is “ season “ and busy.
It’s not like it happens every day!
You obviously not a morning person..I am,and totally get that some people aren’t!
Love how Mike says the moving on was a “ joint decision “… I think not…lol
Hopefully the rest of the trip let’s you lay in as much as you want…🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤞🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Well, the site only just recently opened for the season so they really should have taken care of that before now. Anyway, like you say, it does not happen all the time, just had tobe on one of the few days where we were having a long lie. Typical 🙄

One thing I've learnt after living over here in France for 27 years now is that people aren't very considerate when it comes to noise. True that there are local bylaws about such things as not using garden equipment on a Sunday, Bank Holiday or at certain times of the day. The local mairie decides the implementation of these, so it can vary from region to region. I suspect the woodchipper was being used by people working for the mairie.
The area you are in is a nice but very rural part of the world. Not far from the route we used to take down to the Dordogne. We passed via nearby Saint Aignan.
Bonne route à tous les 3.

If they had told us when we were booking then we could have went elsewhere but I guess they didn't because they still want people to come. They really should have done it before opening the site for the season.

@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot Sadly planning between the various parties for these things sometimes doesn't go so well. Last year the mairie closed our main street from the Summer holidays till November. It seems they didn't liase with the bus companies for when the kids went back to school. So my two kids (daughter at college and son at Lycée) had problems. Buses going round the bypass and missing their stops. Or they were dropped off in a dangerous place before the village. I had a grumble on the mairie FB page. The day after a haphazard sign had been sellotaped to the "route fermée" panel. Reading "sauf autobus" (except buses). I don't think it was my grumble that resulted in that, but I guess there were a lot of annoyed parents.
We once booked a cabin in the Jura, only to find there was another under construction just down the incline from us. Nothing was happening, then sure enough 2 days later, hammering and nailgunning started up. Then found out the owner of our cabin was the village mayor. Law unto themselves. Sorry about your stay, but sadly it is just how things are. I still get annoyed as well, because after all I'm still a Brit and that is the way we see things isn't it?

I have recently found your site and really like your vlogs. I was disappointed though about your attitude to the wood chipper. From my experience the French start work earlier than people in England and Scotland. This is part of their culture and when visiting other countries I believe it’s important to respect difference. I get it might have been annoying but just move, no big deal. I wish I had the luxury to sleep past 8am with my dogs 😂

    • @MikeandTriciaOotnAboot

@@marijayne9644 Thanks, glad you found us. The pollarding work on the trees could have been done any time over the winter, certainly before they opened the site. It was not simple grass or hedge cutting, this was extremely loud, people go to these sites for peace and quiet and relaxation. They did not tell us when we booked the day before we arrived and no signs up. We very seldom have the luxury of sleeping past 8am, I am normally out with Keira at 6a.m. but we arrived late after a long drive. We complained to the Camping Car Parks helpdesk afterwards, the chap said they had been inundated with complaints and apologised that the site owner had not told them about the work that was being done. Obviously didn't want to put people off booking.

The type of pruning on the trees is called pollarding to reduce the height for aesthetics, it can be done any time over the winter and early spring before regrowth starts so they should have done it before the site opened for the season or they could have closed the site on these days or made people aware when booking, or at the very least put notices up.
