@@azjarosz Yeah its weird how the 15 Pro gets the 3x, but not the 15 Pro Max, it gets the 5x. I wish both were possible optically instead of having to pick one, without one option being $100 more
The 0.5-1-3x setup was ideal. They could've just made some resolution improvements to increase the usability of the 3x. I was barely using the 3x anyways.
As others have noted. The 48mp sensor in the 15 is not the same as that in the 14 pro. It is smaller and likely the same as that in the Sony Xperia 5 V. This is a smaller sensor than that in the pixel 7. It is arguably more advanced in terms of dynamic range but not overall noise per image frame. Both 15 pro models appear to have the same 48mp sensor as the 14 pros. Apple has been even more manipulative than usual in their marketing this year. The pixel 8 phones will likely arrive with larger sensors than the iPhone 15 pros, but with computational photography the difference in perceived signal to noise will be negligible. The biggest difference is how Google and apple process their files. Hopefully Apple reduces the over processing of both the pro raw files and the HEIC files.
It’s bad that the iPhone 15 pro and iPhone 15 pro max have separated functions. If I want to use the 5x telephoto lens, then I have to buy only the max version, but it's too big. I want to use a regular iPhone pro but I can't do it. Thanks Apple.

Hey guys - a correction point - I misunderstood slightly that on the iPhone 15 Pro Max the 5X zoom REPLACES the 3X zoom on the pro. Hence why I was talking about It being a clever mix of hardware and software, turns out it’s entirely hardware and is definitely an optical zoom! Apologies for the confusion, it’s been a really long day lol. Hopefully this makes the choice of phone easier since the 3X might actually be preferable for some people! Enjoy the video 😊
Yeah currently in the middle of your video and was going to write a comment about that part. Not going to lie, I'm pretty disappointed that the 77mm lens got straight up replaced by the 120mm lens in the 15 Pro Max. 85mm is my favorite for flattering portraits so the 77mm was a close alternative. Really wish they added the Sony Xperia 3x-5x variable zoom periscope that physically moves inside the phone to give an actual 85mm to 120mm zoom range. You know since Apple uses Sony cameras in their phones anyway... Maybe next year?
It is not, I repeat not a zoom lens. It is a telephoto lens. I don't know why people who should know better keep calling it a zoom lens. My Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G is a zoom lens; this is not. Also, you cannot change the focal length of the main lens. You are simply selecting digital cropping values. I don't know why we can't be accurate in our language.
The 28 mm and 35 mm focal lengths must still effectively be crops with the pixels on the periphery of the image discarded. Certainly, if actual 28mm and 35 mm lenses were used, all pixels of the sensor would be used.
Yes they definitely are crops - I’m still not mad about it though! There should be enough detail in the 48MP to crop effectively. Only issue is that it’s not a true 35mm look
Absolutely correct. But Apple is the only manufacturer with the audacity to claim it would be the same as a real lens. Imagine how man different optical lenses the 200 MP sensor from Samsung could "produce"🤣
