- This is my first look at the Behringer Bass BDI21. And I'm impressed. Watch as I pull deep, growly tones from a bass I got from a junk sale for $60. It won't give you a startling variety of sounds, but where it gives, it gives generously.
I bought this, to make the mixing console ready and this little box was helpful to get a good bass sound.
Yes, if you don't have a bass amp, this thing does the trick. It totally changed the sound of my bass going into a power amp via the XLR output. Not to mention it costs almost nothing. Great pedal to have!
Great to hear a positive comment about this one! I thought it was good too :) #gearfacts
I use this as a touring backup.
Anything goes wrong with your amp this will save the day
I use mine along with my Donner basement headphone amp and my studio headphones as a travel rig,i get big svt style bass tones out of a setup small enough to fit in my gig bag
Is it possible to connect the D.I. out to the PA system at the same time the other quarter inch output to your amplifier for monitor purpose.
Ill be Waiting for your response. Thanks mate
I'm afraid I don't know the answer mate, but the manual is still online (just google "Behringer BDI21 PDF")
Okay. I thought you've already tried it. Just like other pedal with two outputs anyway thanks mate. Been following your channel since then. Thanks See yah.
Hi friend great review just ordered one cheapest pedal I’ve ever bought. Have you got the EQ on the amp stock (all 12 o’clock) cheers
Hi Dean, yep all amp settings were on 12 so everything you hear should be just the pedal doing its work. Glad the demo was helpful :) Gearfacts
Can we use it with active bass Yamaha trb1005?
Yes :) #gearfacts
The sound recording quality ruins all the review and the pedal itself
Yeah it's one of my old videos before I got UA-cam-serious. Over 1000 videos uploaded now :) GF
Gearfacts redo the video with a new setup and I’ll sub and like every single post you make , good trade? Lol thanks for your time I was being sarcastic
@@gearfacts Hello guys, i need help, is the power supply polatiry center-negative or center-positive also can i use a 9v 1A power supply?
Good demo 👍
Thanks Gary, it's had mixed responses :/
Hello guys, i need help, is the power supply polatiry center-negative or center-positive also can i use a 9v 1A power supply?
I think it's negative - there should be a diagram on the back. And yes 9v 1A will be fine
Would this pedal make my di tone better? Looking for something to boost it going straight into my audio interface, either this or I’m going to have spend the big buck and get the real deal, the sansamp to get a real good tone for recording?
Yeah, for $30 you can't go wrong. I have one for the purpose you mentioned. While it doesn't blow me out of the water....it does sound good.
Can this be used to play directly into front of house PA systems?
Yep
Yeah, I've gigged with it as a DI to the desk to PA
Is using the XLR to your mixer sounds it better or worse, save me cable if not
I can hear no difference, though a professional sound tech might know other reasons why XLR is necessary. It might assist with routing into big PA systems, phantom power etc. But no, there's no sound difference that I can tell :) Gearfacts
It will be helpful if use long runs of cable. May also reduce noise from ground loops. In most "short cable" situations I suspect no real difference will be audible.
Also remember, this is the DI , which means you can plug it into your power Amp aux input or line-in if you don't want to buy those expensive Bass amp. I would rather have this DI plugged into power Amp than buying the entry level bass amp that sounds like crap.
It's true, and a good point :)
sorry to ask but i'm new to bass... that means I could buy a power-amp and a speaker cabinet for less than a combo amp?
A preamp + power amp + cabinet can be a VERY professional setup that you probably wouldnt even want to upgrade. I have an Avatar B410 cabinet with a QSC RMX1450 power amp with a Tech 21 sansamp Bass Driver DI preamp and BOSS Bass Equalizer pedal. I’m playing a rickenbacker 4003 with thomastik-infeld jazz flats. That is my whole setup. The amp and pedals and cab were about $1000 altogether.
Is this only DI only ? Or can this be plugged straight into an amp as well ? Thx
You can plug into an amp, yep
@@gearfacts Yee Haa, I am gonna order one and scare the neighbors : )
How about making a pedal review where the acoustic (unplugged) clanking and fret buzz is not interfering and ruining the whole thing?
Fair point, it’s one of my older videos and I do things quite differently now.
Have you figured out how to make a distortion sound. Like a royal blood tone
No, it's not really geared that way. It's more about boosting signal and passing it on to the next device at the 'sweet spot'. It should enable you to get much more out of your existing distortion pedal. Gearfacts
royal blood is not about pre-amp, its about octaves up/down, he actually goes with an split to octave down onto some preamp to the bass amp then the other split to an octave up then distorsion/overdrive/fuzz into a EQ into a guitar amp, so yeah, you are talking apples and oranges here
@@gearfacts check out the Beringer vs..Sans amp comparison video. The dude gets some really nice tones and it mimics the 200+ bucks Sans amp beautifully.
I got a little crunch if i put drive almost to the top.
It sounded pretty good until around 4:05, it got horrible
Def don't want to dime all those knobs, especially the treble and presence
haha I'm just glad I made it to 4 minutes with my dodgy playing.... :) GF
You use here the mike direct input into what?
Directly into studio monitors :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts is there a difference between the input to studio monitors via a mixer and direct to the bass amp?
@@gearfacts So would you be able to just plug in headphones? Do you need anything else other than the bass, behringer, and headphones?
Put it to works together a Behringer ADI-21 Acoustic. Medium frequences gives a wonderful spectrum. Behringer's bad reputation is unjust.
Yep they have some great gear and just a couple of fails that earned them a bad rep I guess.
@@gearfacts Yes. I use 9 pedals on bass, 7 are Behringer.
@@gearfacts I've just ordered one of these. From what I've heard, they've had some growing pains years ago trying to make stuff in China. Uli Behringer learned that to make good stuff in China you must be very involved in the manufacturing process. Like Apple with their iphones. Even going well beyond that, Behringer built his own state of the art factory in China and now seems to a tremendous force to be reckoned with in the manufacturing world; designing in Germany and producing in his own Chines plant.
Should I get this one or thr bass equaliser?
I think this one is more fun than an equalizer on its own :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts Thanks you. Can you make a video comparision between this and the behringer bass equaliser?
Lamgoulian Hatlei This thing is junk. Or a least the 1 I just got is so noisy that it's unplayable. Now I still got to take it to band practice to run through the P A but if it's noisy with just a 25 wt practice amp , I do doubt it going to be better at full band practice. Good thing I got a solid metal just a D I already that I can use with pedals so I'm not too screwed. Just disappointed. Only 2nd Behringer product I bought that's worthless. Got 2 bass amps, a cheapie electric drum set and a small mixer that are great. The other junk is a guitar pedal ,V911 with a tube, that even with the Bitmo mod doesn't do anything for me. Even sounds worst than a Boss ds-1. And that's saying something.
I had a great experience with this pedal, so I bought the eq as well and was disappointed. It was noisy and seemed not to cut or boost frequencies much. This DI is useful though. I don’t care about overdriving much though. This guy’s sound isn’t representative of how it sounds with my rig.
Can i add this to my pedal board?
Yes :) Gearfacts
Would be the last one on the chain
does it boost the sound level
It can if you want it to
Can we use it with graphic eq?
Yes :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts it has bettery or only adapter?
Rdx Ritwik It can use both. It’s a good pedal :)
where to put the eq? before or after?
Can i use this pedal with a bass?
Yep
Wow, nothing gets past you does it lol
Can we get some distortion out of it ?
No, it's not that kind of pedal.
Need to adjust the action. Lots of fret buzz. Oh, and tune it.
I like fret buzz :) #Gearfacts
does it sound good with headphone or computer speaker?
It's better on a bass amp, but yes it'll come through ok on a decent set of speakers or headphones /GF
@@gearfacts its for bass amp? i though it work as a di box
first name last name I’m pretty sure t can act as a DI box or a regular guitar pedal
@@uhh4312 both
Where can I go to check out that bass?
You mean the guitar I was using?
@@gearfacts yep
Thanks for the video. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend trying the FrankenP mod. It makes it twice as dynamic in tones possible: ua-cam.com/video/l8MbcoSsc14/v-deo.html
a little bit out of tune I heard....
Yeah I am often out of tune. Not a great ear :) Gearfacts
Damn, that fret buzz is so annoying
Sorry dude :) #gearfacts
hahaha
You could have a new one for 30 dollaers
Yep that's true, and they're great value. Thanks for watching Gearfacts :)
Bad audio
Yeah but it gets the message across right?
THIS SOUND SUCKS
It's all in the ears of the beholder! :)
