I'm still puzzled what the YT algorithm 'thinks' when it leads me here by nightime-autoplay. Did it 'think' that I would need war-leading advice while I was asleep, because by fate I just ended up as 'General' in my gaming-guild?! O.o If that was it's reasoning behind choosing my nighttime playlist, this AI has clearly developed some strange humour.
Bad choice, of gaming-fate as well as of algorithm, because I have not the slightest idea of what I'm doing. I make things up as I go along. If real world armies are lead the same way my guild is led: by people who aren't fully certain what they are doing while they don't have many clues about the rules of the game they are in... only a very kind god might bother to save us. Or a very kind AI.

Respect boundaries and allow other countries to exist without NATO. No country has the right to impose their interests upon others. Diplomacy and respect are the two key words for peace.
I think a large chunk missing from this, is what we see in Ukraine, lack of integration and standardization: logistics, maintenance and tactics, doctrine. As James Burnham put it: 'only power can check power' Yes maybe allow countries to grow, militarily, with a common goal and purpose. But leaving countries to their own devices, to make their own policies based on divergent capital interests leaves them at the mercy of Chinese or russian interests.
Would you mind pointing to a specific country? I can think of France, armed well enough to make their own policy, sometimes against the US. But not every country is France.
In short, sometimes the best diplomacy, is a well armed, well trained military, and the hope you wont have to use it. (I'm reminded of Nelson's 'the British navy is the best diplomat')
Ultimately, i'd like to think countries choose to join NATO, after all membership is dependent on meeting a set of standards that require a decent degree of commitment.
As to how all this relates to leadership, 'we start as specialists and we end up as generalists, there no school for generalists, you have to pick that up on your own' that is a terrifying thing to say about the american officer corp, but not untrue. We desperately need leadership standards across the board. And if i may impose, standards that arent enforced, arent standards at all. I think Huntington speaks to this when he writes: 'officers should have a liberal education because they lead men' and a mixture of technical and 'soft skills' is what the american military is striving for at the moment. Recruiters basically roll the dice when signing up new recruits, which reveals an ugly truth: you cant have competent military without a healthy warrior culture (what Huntington calls: professionalism, or the professional soldier) that extends far outside the military. I think, tacitly, this is what the US military knows has to happen, but is desperately trying what else it can do.
Finally, I mean no disrespect, i'd like to think that an integral part of any competent officer and therefore peace, is healthy doctrine based on history; a 'historical philosophy' (Durant) if you will. And not assume other political entities will always abide to our abstract notions of 'diplomacy' and 'respect'. 'History is a record of how men have always acted' and there is very little reason to think they would change now.

We NeedChangeNOW TVP-TZM Just finished the video. I think they made some great points on autonomous killing and the next generation will have to figure out those systems. However, in my opinion I believe ending war is a little bit naive. And if this institution does not do it, then another will rise to take its place. Also, lest not forget the past shall we? Human history is riddled with violence, if we want to understand our evolutionary nature, then it is one of struggle, suffering and violence. I think the problem is in simplifying complex problems and issues that cannot be answered by a black and white answer of “lets do away with the military”. Because obviously you, and me have benefited from the world being held together by mutually assured destruction. My 2 cents.

My question is from a personal civilian view, I enjoy gaming because of me having a broken bad back, constant pain. But gaming is the relief, one of 2 ways that I know of to get to pain relief except the pain blockers.
My question is about gaming in the military view, is there something like...gaming being a problem for the future? Is it talked about as a way to engage people, and also teach people skills through gaming, like helicopter flying as an example mixed into entertainment, and later on in life depending on world issues might get tapped as an resource?
I wonder also from a little worried view in case you all view gaming as a problem, if so, then my life would be unbareable.

I experienced the flow of wounded at Landstuhl where cases were often extreme and they were flown in from Basra to Ramstein ,It was evident that stabalisation was started from the battlefield then in the Helicopter and then in Basra ! I believe the flights must have been from Basra to Ramstein about 5hours . Seeing wounded without legs and arms and other horrible wounds must have prooved that MASH in Basra was a posative need and operation but that MASH was still vital but had changed by the modern fast Helicopters getting to Basra Hospital on the Airfield there. But Further afield Mash type Hospitals must have been there for the other nations who had troops in the zone of combat? I am not happy with your comfortable comments when so many wounded were saved by the whole combined military involved.The Pilots to the Medics to ambulance drivers to Nurses and Para medics jumping with Parachutes ! ETC. Incredible Action.Remember that. I will not forget What the 86th Med Group experienced Bless them All.We Respect you.

What is more important: to make Putin pay and cripple Russia and therefore potentially providing an opening for Putin and Russia to, in effect, become ruled by China and be China - extending China into Euroasia and Europe, up to Ukraine's borders and increasing China's land based resources (like rare earth minerals, coal, oil, access to the arctic), production e.t.c.? ...
