So I've seen banding in lighting before but it was prob unintentional. Is the banding created when you dial in the refresh rate of the scanners against the frame rate of the camera recording? I've been involved with lighting and lasers for over 30 years and I've always paid mind to the refresh cycle of the projector cuz I never wanted it to be very obvious unless I wanted exactly that using the far extremes of the range of the scanners. What is your projectors scan rate? I'm sure now a days it's gotta be completely insane as I'm used to using 60k and below. Yeah, it's been a while. But with the banding and the right setup and programmer, this brings a whole new axis into the mix as you can control the rate at which the bands cycle. What about if the rate was zero and the bands stayed in place while running it's program? That's gotta be possible right? Dan
We love the idea Luke; we'll add that to our video "to-do" list. Be on the look out for some social media posts about an upcoming laser banding live stream. It just happens to be coming up quickly.
Absolutely. It can be created with any camera that you can have complete manual control over the settings of but you must also be able to control the laser appropriately.
That is so insane! I did not realize there was such a great difference!
Yes sir, that is why we wanted to share this. Some looks are very close but others are mind bending.

Would love a behind the scenes video about how you programme the lasers with laser banding in mind.

Wow!
Glad you enjoyed the side by side comparison.
is Laser Banding possible with a Sony A7sii?
Absolutely. It can be created with any camera that you can have complete manual control over the settings of but you must also be able to control the laser appropriately.
I gotta try this
Points for first watch and comment as usual. LOVE the support and glad you like what we're putting out into the world.
