Filipino time: is just a time suggestion, like for example a meeting is said to start at 4 pm, but in reality 4 pm is when ppl will starts showing up in the meeting venue, the actual meeting starts 2-3 hours past 4 pm, that's what Filipino time is all about..
To our defense, if the meeting isn't that important (like hanging out with friends, walking around the area, etc.), we do have the tendency to be fashionably late. We can be punctual, although it is a rare occurrence. So much so, you can consider a "Punctual Filipino" to be a separate entity. 🤣
Jokes aside, this is just one aspect of Filipino culture that really needs to be done away with. I say so as a Filipino myself, having been taught the importance of punctuality since I was a kid. Needless to say, from my days as a student to the current time that I've been working for well over a decade now, I've developed the mindset that 'I'd rather be an hour early than be a minute late'.
My mom is Filipino and is super punctual bc she hates Filipino Time™, and whenever she has a get together with her family she tells them the time is 3-4hrs before she actually wants to start because she knows how reliably late everyone will be 🤣😭
omg same. i actually hate filipino time too, it's so cringe (no hate to millie i know she's just joking). but filipino time in my family doesn't exist coz my grandpa's really strict w everything and we all just got that punctual trait from him
if filipinoes says they;re on their way, just know they're just taking a shower, and when filipinoes says they are close it means they're just leaving their house.
You know what is funny when a group of Filipinos designate a time there is always one who thought they would be "Fashionably" late but little did they know their the first one there 😆😆😆
Don't forget the infamous "on the way na" that line means he/she is still laying on the bed.
Otw = On The Water tooooo
otw = kakagising lang
"Malapit na 'ko!" ("I'm almost there!") simply means they're still taking a bath...
Also"paalis na ako"(im on my way) still in bed
On the way na ako (im on the way) means I started to take a dump
otw = on the water
Ah, yes. Filipino standard time hahahaha
"Otw" actually stands for "on the water"
Otw means "On the water" some times LMAO
Bro otw maliligo palang nince
When someone told you they have already left their house and are on the way, what they actually mean is that they are still taking a shower

well... when you look at the traffic in manila it's no surprise
Which could work in your favor. If you're late, blame the traffic.
@@mk_rexxto think some senator was proud of having traffic jams in EDSA thinking it was a sign of "economic prosperity".

There's being fashionably late and there's filipino fashionably late. Add about 6 to 8 hours.
