Love this 442 if only Oldsmobile would have manufactured it with a 403 6.6 litre like this one instead of the 5.0 307 v8 the 307 260 350 403 the block was the same exterinally only the heads cam crank and cylinder bores differ from each engine sizes
Debra, I bought an '87 442 new as well and still have it too. A wise choice by the both of us. Mine is all original with one respray in 1990 as the factory paint was shot after three years on the roof, hood and trunk. I suggest a local restoration shop as the best choice for body/paint work. These days body shops are mostly national chain operations and only want expensive collision work. A restoration shop would do your work. I suggest you buy a set of aftermarket stripes. They are available as a kit.
The only drawback to the Oldsmobile v8s is the oil return drain holes in the cylinder heads dont flow well, especially when the maintenance of the oil is not kept up

We own a 1986 Olds 442. Bought it brand new. It’s in great shape but does need some body work. Can’t find anyone to do the work!
Same here

You can still buy crate Oldsmobile 403 engines?
Go to CME engines.
I got a all original 78 bonneville coupe with a 403. What dual exhaust is that? Or is it straight pipe?
