  • Have you ever wanted to sacrifice material and launch a devastating attack without spending lots of time calculating complicated variations? What if I told you there's a way to sacrifice in chess that’s so simple that it feels almost effortless? In the game we examine today, Samuel Reshevsky demonstrates how to use a positional sacrifice to launch a deadly attack-without complex calculations. By the end of this video, you’ll learn how to spot these opportunities and make attacking chess look really simple.

    5:01 thought Nd7 would be the main idea, but first Rc8, that's what i would do so that there's no Rxc7 for white, after Nd7 i would play Nf6. Question, in the variation at 4:24 black can play Nd8(istead of going to the home square), or does it lose? well going to the home square is just losing a tempo & it's humanly hard to play that move, though engine disagrees with me probably...

    • @chesswisdom
      @chesswisdom  23 дні тому

      Nd8 is also possible, but the engine prefers Nb8, as it allows Black to develop the knight to the ideal d7-square. On d8, the knight has limited prospects and is less active.

    Please display the moves in algebraic notation like what you did in one of your videos such that I could copy it accurately and have my chess engine replay the games with all the variations, recommendations and analyses.

    7:23 cant black play Nd3, sacrificing a pawn but activating the bishop, following up with the development of the rooks & Qg5 ideas of mate, so that the white bishop cannot opose the dark one on the long diagonal(namely white cannot play Bf3) since the white bishop would be hanging, due to the black queen pinning the g pawn? this is probably a bad play, but i dont know if the engine agrees or not with that sacrifice

      After 16...Nd3, White manages to parry the checkmating threats and ends up with an extra pawn - 17. Rxc8 Rxc8 18. Bxd3 exd3 19. Qxd3 Qg5 and 20. g3, or 20. f3

    6:39 isnt Rxc5 also good with the idea of doubling the rooks on the open file(i know the knight remains passive but there is, as you said the Nf6 idea)? Or does the engine hate that move(meaning if it loses to some tactic or not), & if white takes the rook, black recaptures with the knight, solving the problem of his passive knight

    • @chesswisdom
      @chesswisdom  23 дні тому +1

      Rxc5 is also possible, but Nxc5 is stronger, as Black creates the immediate threat of Nd3, where the knight is much better placed than on f6.

    Just learning here . Great game...but lots of calculations I wouldnt be able to make to be able to not have to calculate that sacrifice

  • @DionAhm
    @DionAhm 24 дні тому

    21:50 isnt f3 still winning for black? making white waste a tempo so that black can get to the paws first?

    • @chesswisdom

      After 43...f3 the white king manages to defend the b3-pawn - 44. Kxf3 Kxd5 45. Ke3 Kc5 46. Kd3 Kb4 47. Kc2

      @@chesswisdom ah i see, couldn't calculate the whole line, i just had in my mind that by making white retreat his king, black gets the upper hand but it is a draw apparently, hopefully my comments didnt bother you as they were paragraphs😆Thanks for these great games, one of the few channels i have encountered that cover historical games, i have learnt a lot through your videos. Keep going sir! It's a pity that few people are ingaged in this type of content
