Klay is a 4 time champion. Coming to Dallas is the best possible basketball fit. He's playing next to 25 year old MVP candidate Luka Doncic, and Kyrie freaking Irving, who last we checked just took their team to NBA finals. Klay will never have been as open this season since the 73-9 team in Golden State.

he made the right decision if he wants to win. mavs are way better than the lakers now for sure.
I think he is going to fit very well with the Mavs and I can see how the locker room and having a player-coach like J.Kidd would be great for him. The role should be easy to get into, and Luka will make it much easier for him to get the ball in a good spot without having to run a marathon with a defender in his backpack.
U do realize Klay took over 400 shot attempts off screens led the league.. the Mavs were near the bottom in assisted shots off screens and assist period...they gonna have to add more movement.

And the Mavs don’t have to update their offensive scheme to fit Klay. He’s gonna get sooo many open looks because of Luka and Kyrie, where he can just do what he does best, catch and shoot.

Klay comes from a motion offense, dallas has a brute force offense with Luka the primary than Kyrie..everyone else lobs, put backs, transition, catch and shoot..Kidd will have change some things with his offense.. secondly without derek Jones Jr who will now defend Kawhi, KD, Lebron, Antman, Ingram.. Klay didn't do that at GSW it was Wiggins assignment..I just offered food for though before any goes to order championship hats....

As much as I wanted to see Klay in a Lakers uniform, I respect his decision and Michael's honesty. Dallas did go to the NBA Finals and is a better team with the addition of Klay.

It's sad that Mychal Thompson doesn't realize that the Lakers he knew and played for are no longer that team, but are now a clown show with NO LOYALTY to anyone except the Almighty Dollar. NO ONE wants to go there, not great players, and not great coaches. McMillan and Brooks must be desperate for work, their knowledge and experience will be wasted.
I think he choose Dallas cause less drama and taxes. Choosing lakers wouldn’t have made sense because the drama that happens in that organization with lebron and lakers organization and nobody wants to be put into that situation. Not only that the pressure of just having lebron just being in your ear to make every shot it’s not worth. Might as well have stayed in the warriors if that was the case. His dad wants him in the lakers because he went there but his son would have loved to go there but not right now.

Lakers won't be in the Playoffs. BEST case scenario, the SQUEEK into the Play-in. Again. And lose in round 1.
Again. Remember, AD played 76 games. (He's avg 48.5 games per season with the Lakers prior to last season.)
Same with Lebron. He played 71 games last years. (He's avg'd 55.6 games per season with the Lakers prior to last year.)
The 2 of them played a combined average of 104.1 games the previous 4 seasons. Last year, they played a combined 147.
Given their injury history, that's not likely to happen again.
So with AD and Lebron likely returning to the mean and playing less games next season, the team not signing ANY free agent (And stop with the Max Christie talk...he's nothing more than the next THT.), losing Prince (a solid rotation player) and doing little to improve the team except draft 2 rookies, this roster is no better than it was last year.
Meanwhile, virtually every other team in the West made at least one move to improve (even if they were just role players). I have no hope for this team. We have Lebron, Klutch and the ineptitude of Pelinka, Jeanie et al to thank for that. The only way this team will be competitive again is once Lebron retires and he and Klutch stop holding the Lakers future hostage in favor of appeasing Lebron's personal quest to enhance his INDIVIDUAL legacy at the expense of the Lakers TEAM legacy. Lebron is NOT a team guy. He is all about Lebron. Period. End of story. RIP Lakers.
