Honestly I would do some editing to the tones. The colors are oversaturated. But it has great image capabilities for being a phone. Still impressive.

I just switched to pixel 8 and I want to get the case but I still have M-mount lenses so what am I supposed to do about that? I really can't afford to replace them with T-mounts

I have the Pixel 6. And the 8 looks very similar, just slightly sharper. The problem with Pixel image quality is mainly that it over saturates green and it shows too much black on shadows that should retain more detail. Contrast is excesive in my taste. I would like the phone to have the ability to shoot in different contrast modes for example. Still looks decent.
Amazing shots, just mindblowing! 😄👍 - not so long ago this would habe been the quality you’d expect from a professional camera. And now it’s in a phone, that’s just crazy. I like these more neutral shots *so* much more than what the iphone does.. no wonder tech advisor put the pixel devices before apple on the „best phones of 2023$ list 👍

Google have improved so much with video this year. Still not as good as the iphone perhaps but still very very close.

I own a pixel and will never buy an iPhone but the iPhone murders the pixel when it comes to video. Google is taking good steps in their video capabilities but are still way behind Apple.

How are we suppose to use the anamorphic lens if the Moment App is only native to the Apple system? Is there another desqueezer we can use?
We recorded within the regular camera app and then just dequeezed it in post since we edited this on DaVinci. Still super easy!
The non-LUT footage looks way better, I think. Can see more tones. The LUT footage has compressed tones

Hi Moment team, why didn't you guys use FiLMiC Pro and ND filters ? The oversharpening and the fast shutter speed don't compliment the footage and you're undoubtedly aware of it so there must be a particular reason ?

Agreed. I don't think this video is a good example of the Pixel's potential. The filter should be trying to reverse the slight overexposure and contrast. Instead it's making it even worse.
As a content creator and a pixel user.
This footage is very blocky and the detail could be better.
This isnt the fault of Moment.
They clearly tried.
This is Google not implementing better in-camera video settings or encoding options.
Yes video boost comes next month. Yet not everyone is gonna wait for it to upload and then download before posting.
Raw footage (no lut) looks really good tho. I think the lut presented here is just not adapted to the footage coming out of the Pixel, which has really vibrant colors out of the box, so the lut is making it look over the top.
Will the pixel 8 pro do the color grading automatically to make a video like this?

No LOG is available on the Pixel 8 Pro at the moment
All the footage from this era will have that over processed look and age badly. They should add a log mode like iPhone.

Hmm footage does not look good. I have an old Sony Xperia 5 II and the 4K videos it produces are very natural. You guys should review Sony Xperia 5 V ;)
Pixel quality is alittle blown out in shots. I like the iphone's HDR better.

The pixel 8 pro is not a very pleasing device for camera and video. Hard to get decent results
Honestly, it looks great, but it is very evident that it is a phone camera unlike the iPhone 15 pro, which despite being a phone, its image quality manages to more closely resemble a real camera.
Interesting. I would bet on the fact that if the exact video would have been uploaded with the title „shot on iphone 15 pro max“ you would have commented *exactly* the same first 4 words…without the rest. Btw: you are an American, right?
@@erebostdHi! The truth is that my comment comes based on what I see, not because of a particular brand. I don't have a preference, it's just that so far, everything I've seen of the iPhone 15 pro seems incredible to me, so it's obvious that I want to make the comparison. But like I said, it looks good.
I've seen cameras way worse than this. But of course, there's also better.
iPhone 15 Pro videos are oversharpened unless you use the prores log modes

Great videography, but sadly I don't think Google can keep up with Apple in terms of smartphone video. Especially with Apple LOG fixing the over sharpening problem now, there is just no competition these days. Still, the video looks decent enough to pass for social media and most personal video recording applications

Let’s be real - it’s typical smartphone footage with hi-res and colour grading. The harsh exposure and lack of bokeh aren’t even slightly masked. At least Apple take cinematic elements into account.
Yep. Harsh color/contrast with the lut and too sharp. If the desire was to look cinematic, well, it didn't.

@@DreamsOfLegend it isn’t about liking, you can like a film that was shot on a Sony Viewcam. The implication here is that the footage replicates that which is beyond the capabilities of a modern smartphone and a lot of us aren’t convinced.

Too much sharpness and too little dynamic range. I’m surprised how much this looks like smartphone footage.
Nowhere near as oversharpened as videos from iPhone 14 Pro/15 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

It is so Over. Oversaturation, oversharp, over-hdr. Don't like this side of modern image processing.
The amount of artificial sharpness and HDR is disgusting.
It looks so much better than the oversharpening and too much contrast on my iPhone 14 Pro
