soon they will figure out just to put a forge and then set up cannons, there's actually no counter if you go this mass phoenix style of play
@cylee4735 honestly I was thinking the exact same thing. If you're dropping pylons aggressively in your opponents face and base, build cannons too!
@@eeefeefeffasdf funny thing is they don’t even have wrap gate researched, so it’d be very funny coz once the cannon is up it beats ungraded Zealots/stalker/adapt 1v1 lol
@@cylee4735i mean its hard to get the cannons up if the enemie has 3 phoenix. And investing in cannons means your enemie has more phoenixs meaning they win sky war and destroy all your units and probes.
@@cylee4735 now imagine 2 toss sitting on only phoenix in their base while plastering the map with cannons. now that's a match i want to see in ESL.

Actually all these games were equally awesome...
For real, I really enjoy phoenix x phoenix action usually, because of the micro, but this was... not it.
The irony of the "US air force" on the map in a series of pheonix wars, example at 20:32.

In the Lategame MaxPax had 3k minerals, if he'd just spend it and 250 in gas to get spam some zealots to harras, because he had 90 workers, so he can't face an army, simply because enemy has more army supply.
But a diversion is very good because carriers are slow, so with zealot run by you can seperate the army.

Game 1 you have mothership and nexus recall up. Instead of killing your own phoenix, send them around the map to pick up probes or scout or force enemy army movement. You can recall them at any point so I dont understand wtf they were doing. If you didnt have 3/3, stalling would have been a great move from max.
they can't have full vision around the map, recall still being a priceless skill even with mothership, but maybe investing more on detection to support the harassment will be a nice strategy.
If they do that because they don't want the opponent to know that they are purposely getting rid of the Phoenixes, thus getting Carriers. They're trying to play mind games. And there's no stalling with the Phoenixes. As soon as they move in for harassment, the enemy fleet moves foward, because at that point they know exactly what is happening. It's like pushing a GO button. These players understand how to harass, how to use Recall, and that Phoenixes are horrible vs Carriers. They know more than you do, I promise!
I actually think I might enjoy PvP with this as the meta. Fun to watch air battles for a change

Why doesn't mass void beat mass phoenix?
Phoenix > Voids > Tempests > Carriers > Phoenix. It's their model. If Voids beat max Phoenix, then they'd beat all Protoss air for cost. It would end up being even more boring than it is now lol.
I wonder why no one make tempest or voidray when opponent start getting carriers.
because they are so slow and 10+ phoenix will destory them. They idea is that Phoenix are light and fast, so if you mass build something slow, they outrun you and kill your entire economy plus camping your stargate. The only thing this stargate style has to counter phoenix are either building more phoenix or carriers. So that's what they did, unless you have a 4 base economy plus not being scouted, you cannot afford archons, otherwise the moment you start build the templar archive the opponent's phoenix will be right at your base
@@cylee4735 Even if you could, Carriers annihilate Archons anyway. Once the Phoenix Wars start, it's always more Phoenix straight into Carriers and then usually a huge battle then GG. I wish there were some more viable tech paths, but Phoenixes kinda counter everything that could kill Carriers.
@@ZCasavant archons don’t need to kill the carriers, they kill the intercepts in a quite efficiently and then your phoenix can kill their carriers
@cylee4735 I'd love if you showed me a game where that actually happened. I'd bet serious money that the player who tries to go Archons loses. Do you know of a game where someone who made that work?
So no storms/archons or carrier tempests? Or run immos underneath to chip away buildings while engaged with Phoenix. Or make cannons for probe line defense this is trash

Damn, what a great game! Haven't seen such a PvP in a while. Unfortunately, the cast was meh. Their comments were so personal and negative. Putting down the losing player to make their cast somewhat "interesting", hmm don't think so.... not even close...
TBH, I dislike the new Mothership. I prefer the old one.

Correction: Skytoss is boring. Ground Toss is pretty exciting, with Blink Stalkers, DTs, and Disruptors involved.
think the dumbest battle I ever saw was muta vs muta. Flying around for ages, then final battle was over in a few seconds, and it had the worst animation and sound FX of any battle in SC2. It was in some live GSL and everyone in chat was just laughing at how anti-climatic and ridiculous it was to watch.
