I was a Travis dealer selling Avalon stoves for years. I have the 1190 Insert in my fireplace and it has served me well for 20 years and I have never replaced an air tube.
I also have an old 580 Lopi in the basement and it is amazing too !!! The glass stays amazing clean and it is virtually indestructible . Travis is one of the tops on the globe !!! Their products are the most dependable . Their gas and pellet units were amazing too !! Very very very few call backs !! GREAT JOB TRAVIS AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

*Very easy to set up and use, attractive but be sure you understand the height--it's not tall. The heat is not overwhelming, but steady and pleasant fireplace **fireplace.homes** . It's quiet, too. I like the possibility of easily moving it from room to room in the event we want supplemental heat elsewhere. Definitely a good buy.*

I bought a Lopie flush wood insert over 2 years ago. The fan often doesn't come on until at least 45 minutes after I started a fire. Sometimes it comes on in 20 minutes. Never know. I want to add a switch (on-off) to bypass the thermal switch to get the fan on sooner.
The installers from the dealer in Albuquerque didn't do so well. They've been out about 4 times to fix things. The last time, or time before, they reinstalled the front in such a way as to scrape the insulation off of a couple wires. I taped them up last year, but need to fix it before this heating season. The readable temperature sensor usually doesn't give a correct temperature after a couple months. When it's working, the heat output is pretty good.

      Thanks for your comment.
We'll pass your comments onto the US manufacturer, Travis Industries as we are based in Australia.
In regards to the timing of the fan starting, this is usually dependant on the amount of wood burning in the firebox and the amount of ash on the floor of the heater so it can vary. If the firebox is not hot enough, having the fan on too soon would cool the box and circulate cool air. The thermo-disc thats activates the fan is located under the brick floor.
An electrician could potentially wire in an on/off bypass for the fan if you preferred. If you have any questions please reach out to Travis Industries as you are located in the US.
      Thanks

Why can't I just order an insert directly?? My local "dealer" doesn't seem interested in selling these.

Do you need to connect the blower? Or can you just burn without connecting it. I have a small condo and I think it would generate too much heat if I turned on the blower I think the convection he’s talking about would be enough for my purposes.

I have the agp lopi stove with insert. My chimney is fabricated from wood. I have everything sealed off inside, but no matter what always have a draft through the sides of the insert. Never could figure it out no matter how much i insulate. Only thing I can think of is that the chimney is not heated and the room is heated with the 2 airs mixing together creating a backdraft. Anyone have this problem?

I am looking to install a Lopi evergreen in our Superior pre-fab, zero clearance fireplace.
The documentation seems to indicate that this is acceptable. Does anyone have a definitive answer? Thank you in advance

I'm looking at getting the Large Flush Wood NexGen-Fyre, but as I was doing research, I saw that the Hybrid-Fyre model has higher efficiency and significantly lower emissions (.57g vs 1.7g) I'm wondering what are the differences in these two units? NexGen sounds like an improvement in the technology some how, but it seems as though it burns less efficiently and dirtier. Can you describe the difference and I why I would want to choose one over the other? Thanks!

I have the Lopi Cape Cod Hybrid-Fyre cast iron medium insert. I absolutely love this stove and wouldn't change one thing about it!! I bought it in March of 2020 before Covid took a hold of the economy so I know I got a very well built, quality stove. My house is a ranch, including my finished basement I have 1,746 Sq ft. And in the dead of winter in Dayton, Ohio. I'm talking 15 degrees outside in late January, this stove will keep my house around 77 degrees with the blower on medium!! It gets so hot even with my blower on the lowest setting, I won't burn any wood unless it's 32 degrees or below because it will just burn us out of the home. It works really well for us on those cold nights. I've actually had it at about 81 degrees a few times on the main living area, and the basement is comfortable even without my furnace fan on to recirculate some of that heat! Now to your point about this next-gyn fire system.. my opinion on it is they probably upgraded the design like they're talking about, but because of Covid and the economy, like every manufacturer out there, they have probably cheaped out on some of their parts, which is why they probably show worse numbers. That is just my opinion, don't hold me to it. But if I were you I would look into getting a 2020 model with the hybrid-fyre. Can't go wrong with it IMO! Good luck!

So the nexgen just has return tubes, but the hybrid fyre has return tubes and a catalytic combustor. That's why it's has lower emissions

I just installed this stove in my 2600 Sq. Ft. Home and it barely heats up the room that it's in. It goes thru a lot of wood and has to be cleaned out every day. I've always heated with wood and this isn't a good stove.

Having the same issue in my house, wood is at 8-11% dry. When it works it does heat up but it’s ALOT of maintenance. Have to clean out ashes EVERY morning. Everytime I open up door even with damper open smoke comes in the house and I’m opening up the door slow. My 40 year old stove was a lot less of a headache but did use more wood. If I knew it was going to be like this I wouldn’t of spent the $
