More than a hybrid, Galicia and the original territory of Portugal were a political unit for centuries. The castrexos, a people of Celtic origin, developed a similar culture from the Cantabrian Sea to the mouth of the Duero River. This territory was the base of the Roman province of Gallaecia (does the name sound familiar to you? :)) with its capital in present-day Braga (Portugal) but with Lugo (Galicia) as its main city. It was not until the 12th century that the Condado Portucalense, a county of the Kingdom of Galicia, was separated. The common language spoken in the previously common territory began to vary and evolve in both until it became modern Galician and Portuguese. BTW, nice video!!! 💪🏼
Nice video! Although I wouldn't say Galicia is "a little rainier" than the rest of Spain. It actually is WAY rainier than the rest of Spain and one of the rainiest places in Europe.
Galicia is gorgeous. A true hidden gem for travelers to Spain. But you forgot to visit A Coruna. An amazing city with vibrant culture, history, amazing people and great nightlife.
Yes, they are eucalyptus, they are used for making paper, but now they are giving problema because eucalyptus is invasive in the north spanish ecosystem. Its kind of sad.
Hahaha, when watching the video, I was pretty sure to find a comment about it. I was thinking "oh my god, he will upset all the Galicians watching, for such an historic mistake". 😄
Both territories were a cultural and political unity (the roman province of Gallaecia, then the suevian Kingdom of Galicia) until the Earl of the most southern county (Condado Portucalense) calles himself King the XII century.

Galicia never was part kingdom of Portugal. Portugal was part kingdom of Galicia. Galicia is oldest than Portugal.
Ah okay good to know!
