    NATO was created to secure USA and its closest allies after WW2, when soviet russia immediately become a threat (50,60ties especially). It's absolutely logical move for any neighbor of current facist russia, that joining the NATO is the best security move the given country can get. NATO is about building a defense. Putin would already test NATO if Ukraine would fall in February.

    They seem they don’t want to remember the USA gave Ukraine security guarantees - clearly they’d rather be avoiding this rhetoric. I’ve noticed several comments as to the Budapest memorandum, so I’ll add: The memorandum is a written and signed document - not the rumors around it. What the parties agreed to is in the text, the rest is irrelevant

      No you don't understand, people like Radek led us to 3 wars already(2 in Ukraine and 1 in Georgia). You can't change your neighbours. Status quo benefited us both finiancially and from the pov of strategy(not having to face Russia and China together). Radek Sikorski says "realist policies failed" - when it's the opposite is true. Liberal crusading fails, wars in middle east Sikorski supported and reckless idea of expanding NATO to the border of Russia itself brought nothing but death, destruction and huge increase in inflation. Have fun being chleb for 9zł. Few more months and Ukraine will be a giant crater and will probably need to cede Dontesk and Lugask to Russia. This is about old Russian men who are bitter about the collapse of the Soviet Union and want to reestablish Russia supposed imperial strength by absorbing their former territories. They are enraged and bitter that Ukraine, a country once firmly under Moscow's control, is choosing a Western path on its own by wanting to establish trade with the E.U. @@Blanka1100 Well, this is a very simple view on Polish-Russian relations. Russ and Poland Slavic states emerged in IX century. Russ was baptized in Orthodox Christianity and Poland in Catholic. In XIII century Russ was weakened by Mongols and Lithuania captured Russ western lands (nowadays Ukraine and Belarus). When Moscow emerged and started to reunite Russ lands Lithuania in 1384 made Union of Krewo with Poland. Since then Russian and Polish elites had many tensions around Belarus and Ukraine. In 1610 during Russia's Time of Troubles Polish troops captured Moscow. And in the late XVIII century after Swedish invasions and then Germany/Austria/Russia partitions Poland stopped to exist as a state with most of Polish and Lithuanian lands under Russia's rule. In 1812 Napoleon came to Moscow with Polish troops, and after Napoleon was defeated Russia gave Poland partial autonomy, but during XIX century Russia crushed hard all Polish uprisings. In 1917 Russian Empire collapsed after revolution and USSR emerged. Poland gained independence in war with USSR and took western Belarus and Ukraine's lands. In 1938 Poland took part in partition of Czechoslovakia and Polish elites had plans to jointly invade USSR with Germany. But USSR and Germany in 1939 signed pact due to which USSR gained Baltic states and western Ukraine/Belarus lands. During WW2 fkn Stalin 'liberated' Poland (actually Hitler promised to terminate all Untermenschen, including Poles and Jews). And after WW2 fkn Stalin gave Poland eastern Germany lands as a gift and compensation for western Ukraine/Belarus lands. 45 years Poland was under communist rule and in 1990-1991 became democratic state. In 1997 Zbigniew Brzeziński wrote a book 'The Grand Chessboard' where he described that Ukraine must be alienated from Russia. In 1999 Poland joined NATO, and in 2004 joined EU. In 2004 Poland supported unconstitutional change of power in Ukraine. In 2010 presidents of Poland and Russia had to commemorate Pole officers killed by USSR in 1939, but plane of president Lech Kaczynski crashed in Belarus. In 2012 Poland and Ukraine jointly hosted European Football Championship. In 2014 Poland supported coup in Ukraine and in 2020 supported disorders in Belarus.
      That was a brief story of Russian-Polish relations. So, you now may understand composition of spaghettis in brains of Polish ruling elites and particularly in brain of Mr. Sikorski 🙃

    Poland has a clandestine American base with rockets. Russia answered this base with Iskander rockets in Kaliningrad. Putin can relay upon Sweden and Finland not to allow the USA nuclear rockets on their territory - the West Europa have only American plane tactical nuclear bombs but no rockets, too. Ukraine and Poland are weak against the USA and allow American nuclear rockets with 5 minutes fly time to Moscow.
    _____For Russia it is the same as when Kennedy did not allowed such Soviet rockets on Cuba - Kennedy ordered the Cuba-Blockade. Cuba could not join Warsaw Pact but Ukraine have the promise of NATO to accept Ukraine as NATO-Member and Ukraine have in its constitution since 2019 that Ukraine will join NATO. Russia had to stop American nuclear rockets in Ukraine before Ukraine join NATO.
    _____The USA are responsible for the Ukraine war as the USA are since the Fall of the USSR in Ukraine and officially (told in US-Parliament) spent more the 5 Milliard dollars for hurting the sovereignty of Ukraine - the USA have promised in Minsk-Agreement not to do it.

      @Jon Little: "There are no NATO nukes in Ukraine, Ukraine is not being asked to host nukes. Despite Putin's paranoia, Ukraine does not present an imminent existential threat."
      The nukes in Poland are not NATO nukes, too, they are only American nukes. USSR reacted on Cuba on American nukes in Turkey. You are naive when you think the USA will not put its nukes in Ukraine and Russia has probably clandestine detailed American plans about nukes in Ukraine already (delivered by Russian spies in Pentagon).
      Russia had to make these American plans impossible before Ukraine join the NATO.
      _____If Russia would start to build its base without nukes in Cuba and in Mexico then the USA would remind Russia about the Doctrine Monroe-Rossevelt, which does not allow any one to be present in the whole South America continent - only the USA. The USA sent troops more then ten times to countries of South America on the base of this Doctrine. Russia wants this Doctrine only to one country - to Ukraine. And you talk about a "moral equivalence"? The USA are solely responsible for the Ukraine war.

      @Jon Little "First. we aren't talking Poland. Putin hasn't invaded that NATO country. Yet"
      Because Poland is in NATO and Russia do not want a war with NATO.
      "Ukraine does not have nukes"
      But WILL get an American nuke-base after joining NATO as it was a case with Poland.
      "Your argument (which, interestingly, is no different than Putin's) therefore justifies US invading Venezuela, as Russia has invaded Ukraine. "
      The USA does not need Russian in Ukraine in order to invade any country of South America. For the USA the Doctrine Monroe-Rossevelt it is enough for this purpose - president Trump and his adviser Bolen have said 2018 that the Doctrine Monroe-Rossevelt is of course valid - in result the countries of the South America are the poorest in the world.
      The Doctrine Monroe-Rossevelt does not force the USA to invade any country of the South America continent but only allows to do it. And the USA have done it more then ten times already. What the USA are doing in Venezuela is the other theme but the USA are very active in Venezuela and obviously prefer these activities more then invading Venezuela - for now.
      Russia has invaded Ukraine AFTER -- NOT BEFORE !!!!!!!! -- the Doctrine Monroe-Rossevelt and after many American invasions in South America. So you want the American right to invade at will and call it moral. Only if Russia does the same but at 1% of American invasions, in justified fear of the USA base with nukes 5 minutes fly time from Moscow, then, THEN it is not moral for you.

    • @piotrkraczkowski6729
      @piotrkraczkowski6729 2 роки тому +3

So you say Russia should wait till Ukraine is in NATO as Poland and then the USA built its nuke-base in Ukraine, an existential threat to Russia but Russia cannot do anything about it as then Ukraine were in NATO.
      Do you know that the USA have promised Gorbachev not to broaden the NATO in East Europa? But not as an agreement on paper - still, the USA said publicly the USA understand that NATO in East Europa would be an existential threat to Russia -- East Europa is in NATO and the USA wants Ukraine in NATO. The USA have created a situation of existential threat for Russia and caused with it the Ukraine war.

He knows nothing about the reasons why Russia tries to advance westwards since the times of Peter the Great, and why the Baltic states, Poland and Romania, and even Turkey are not safe until Russian imperialism, which has survived the Soviet era, is extinguished forever. If he knew, he'd understand that as long as Russia doesn't undergo a transformation similar to that of Germany after WW2 it will keep rearming and trying again to expand westwards forever. He's the perfect example of what Russians call an useful idiot.

    These fellas are giving Americans bum advice. America started this war in Ukraine by supporting the Nationalist take-over of Kiev, and then promising to help them take Donbass from the majority of Russian speakers and sympathizers. This was an ominous step that Russia provided countermeasure for and watched closely. Eight years later, and 14 K people killed, Russia finally stepped in after recognizing the independence of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts. They also eyed the large Ukrainian Army that was being assembled to take Donbass once and for all. Because the U.S. prevented a comprehensive security arrangement with Russia, now the intrepid Ukrainians will lose the majority of their landmass to Russia, which I'm sure the Russians will not bargain away. By rule of conquest, this will be done. So you see American quest for hegemony hurts those involved.

    I haven't seen anyone explaining the real commercial and reason why this conflict sparked off but I can say now. What USA along with their alliens of NATO was just smothering Russia, Baltic Sea is shallow with many stone that makes impossible for fleets of cargo ship access that region, the Black Sea is the only way out for exportation for both Ukraine and Russia, the pipelines that cross Ukraine to supplying Europe would have blocked once NATO entered through Black Sea then they could also make the same they have done in Iraq that cowardly attacked intensively without giving chance to react by killing millions of innocents, entered into Lybia to conquer the ones were resistance to Kaddafi then killed him. Russia occupied the Black Sea and the region which give access to survive otherwise they would be blocked and could have had their pipeline clogged. Putin is more than right, Zelensky is a group of Oligarchies puppet, the Americans smile so as to distract while they backstabbing and the European have being submissive to Biden and disregading the disaster that may come to Europe due to lack of oil, gas as well as grains. In Europe the inflation may reach two digit this years, when the inflation is higher than the interest rate the currency collapse is unavoidable.

      Gas pipelines from Russia to Europe will soon be history exactly thanks to Putin's attack on Ukraine. Putin has lost that war already. And don't worry about Europe, we have both reserves of gas for the next winter and plans for UE's energetic independence since 2023.

    It is always a problem of money and for me it was not in our interest, which means of the western european population and american population, including in our alliance all the countries that came after the 1990s. I understand that maybe the inclusion was in their interest but I repeat, not in our interest!!!! Why did we include them? Because our military industrial complex does not care about the population and wants to expand their power at all costs! So what is the meaning of bringing in a polish politician?
    I was born in a poor family and there was a rich family living close by. I wanted to be part of that family and for some reasons it may be possible. They discussed the matter and took a decision that was in their own interest; they didn't invite me in the discussion! Why do you invite the Polish? OK now everything is done and the Polish are part of the alliance, but for other countries you have to consider if the enlargement of the alliance is positive or negative for the existing partners.On the other hand if America is pushing the enlargement of NATO because it has different objectives, then Russia has the right to push back. Our politicians have chosen to go ahead with the enlargement of NATO and did nothing to avoid this war in a moment of big economic problems and high inflation. Yes they are trying to blame Putin for everything but, at least for me, it is clear which party has to be blamed the most next november!

    with all respect and sympathy for mr. Sikorski his recently repeated argument “realists are wrong, otherwise Russia should be invading Finland and Sweden now” is a weak one. reason no. 1: Russian military capacity turned out to be an obvious joke, so it’s not possible for Putin to start any additional interventions any time soon. it doesn’t prove though, he wouldn’t want to if he had the capacity

    • @michalkrzywdziak2547

      @Jon Little we obviously discuss two different things here :-) my point is: the fact that Putin does not invade Finland these days, has an easy explanation and does not prove J. Mearsheimer - the so-called realist - wrong (what RS argues basically). yours is: Russia might become dangerous someday again, so it makes sense for Finland to join NATO. well, that does make perfect sense for me too.

      "Russian military capacity turned out to be an obvious joke,"
      you may have to reassess that once aorund 12k ukranian troops get encilced in severodonetsk in a couple of days and and many more thousands on kramatorsk in the next couple of weeks.
      and russia doens't have to invade finland yet, so far turkey is saving finland by blocking them access.
      I'd wait and see how the situation evolves.

    • @randomdude2832
      @randomdude2832 2 роки тому +1

      @Jon Little "Russians been fighting that fight for a few weeks. Still hasn't happened."
      main highways have been cut off, now it won't take much time to fully cut severodonestk from slupplies and to cut withdrawals. that's why I said a couple of day, but it might extend to a week.
      "Sweden will end up having to "throw the Kurds under the bus", and sooner rather than later."
      also why I said so far, but isn't a member of the pkk part of the swedish parliament? and what would be the legal framework to throw them under the bus?
      that might give enough time to reality to set in that 'russia has a weak army' is propaganda when the ukranian army is fully defeated in a month or two and the economic realities of the sanctions begin to set in western europe.

    • @randomdude2832
      @randomdude2832 2 роки тому

      @Jon Little no, russians keep pushing on the popasnaya salient, the slavians road is blocked at yampil.
      the russians keep losing tanks trying to cross? how many more attempts have they made? you're not just buying the propaganda, now you're making more on your own...
      they are going to get encircled, the should pull back while they still can, but elensky is a clown and he's going to sacrifice them to try to create martyr like in azovstal.
      nato weapons are not going to make a difference, only a small fraction of the money to ukraine will be in weapons, it's just a scheme to take money without oversight. and the weapons that are given to ukraine will take time to train, and donbass doesn't have much time.
      I doubt that russia has little resupply oportunities, they were preparing for this, if they resupply is handling the sanctions the same way their economy, then they shouldn't have any problems with it.
