    Truly, I want justice for her character. Sheldon gets a Nobel prize, Georgie is a wiz at selling tires, and Missy is... *checks notes* a hostess at Fudruckers and divorced with two kids. Wow.

      In all chuck lorre productions the women are made to look like terrible. Penny was considered the dumb blonde who sleeps around but had some redeeming qualities in that she was kind. Missy as an adult was portrayed as a woman who can’t keep a man and sleeps around and in both cases of them sleeping around it was portrayed as trashy and in a lot of his other productions women were not portrayed in the best light. He’s a misogynist.

      In the transition to the original series, he is lashing out at everyone he becomes close with. His pre-Leonard roommate writes Die Sheldon Die on the wall. He treats Leonard like a chauffeur and servant...belittles his accomplishments almost as badly as he does Howard, Raj and Penny.
      One can consider him mildly autistic, but there are full on autistic people who show affection and smile. I think he is retconning the character to be harboring a deep pain that only Penny and his wife eventually resolved.

      The gentleman who asks Sheldon if he is lost, is a physicist who has been a consultant for the Big Bang and Young Sheldon for more than 20 years. His appearance at the end was a little thank you from the producers for all his help on both series.

It’s wild af, my child is an athletic extrovert and my family describes raising me as having raised Sheldon (a much lower achieving Sheldon lol, while they mean that I was a smart kid I am 99% sure that is not where they’re making that comparison.)

    honestly if you ask me, Young Sheldon is Sheldon writing his autobiography and finally coming to terms with his father, like he said now that he's his father's age with kids of his own. he realizes his father wasnt a bad parent, he was a man as adrift at sea as everyone else.

      still doesnt explain why mary in the bbt had bad memories and stories of George, calling him stupid, drunk and implying he was a bad parent. You can excuse Sheldon based on his trouble understanidng social queues and shock of the death, but mary doesnt have those issues, unless she was trying to paint him as vile to overshadow her tendencies to often be neglectful to missy and georgie in favor of Sheldon and criticize her husband all the time.

      Because TBBT was a Lorre sex comedy. That was the formula. Bad quirky parents that cause conflict.
      Young Sheldon was a nuclear family retro comedy, so the parents may have flaws or conflict, but they are still the straight man in the comedy. Different formula.

I'm glad they gave her that last little moment with Sheldon so her running out of the baptism wasn't her final one but I wish we'd gotten to hear things turned out alright for her since the last time we saw her in TBBT she wasn't too happy with how her life was (all we know from Young Sheldon is she had more kids than were discussed in TBBT).

    I really thought we would get a proper recap at the end, and the fact that we didn’t is probably my only complaint with the finale. It would have been nice if older Sheldon filled us in a bit more on what happened after he left for CalTech-in a way that respects established TBBT canon, while also expanding on/clarifying some stuff so that Missy’s character could get the closure that she deserves. Meemaw and Georgie too, but I suppose the new spin off will likely cover some of that. Fingers crossed anyway

    I wish they had done more for Missy. Clearly she's devastated and instead of trying sincerely to help her, everyone makes the same screeching face and walk away. Her pain and trauma is so apparent, yet no one makes a loving attempt to help her.
    And finally, am I getting the idea that the entire series was Sheldon writing his autobiography?? If so, there is a glitch in the episode where Sheldon walks in on his father and "another woman." While I thought the way the writers handled that was hilarious, Sheldon just thought she was another woman and not his mother, how could we have seen it was actually Mary? Sheldon would have remembered it as he remembered it. Especially when he says he and his father never talked about it.

    • @soumyaduggal-tx5ot
      @soumyaduggal-tx5ot 27 днів тому

      It's like the voiceover by adult Sheldon throughout the series is what we can fully assume to be part of the autobiography. But once the visuals appear, we're taken back to what 'actually happened'. So the visuals fill the gaps in memory--all of what Sheldon couldn't have seen (such as the other characters' stories and internal conflicts that we have been able to peep into) or might have misconstrued. In the first few seasons esp, it's the contrast b/w how Sheldon narrates/remembers things (esp since he's a child, so his understanding is limited in certain areas) and how we see those stories play out that nuances are produced in the overall narrative and deeper meanings are illuminated.
      It's the same narrative strategy that the film Titanic uses. The voiceover narration is from the point of view of just one character but the visuals encompass the stories and perspectives of so many more. The visuals are largely dominated by the protagonist's story but there is that little bit of space for certain characters/subplots to have independent value/meaning/relevance

    I actually did not like that they did not mention Leonard Hofstadter. When I see Amy I was happy because she is his wife, and Penny was mention then no Leonard, I guess I just hate it because Leonard was his best friends, from season 1 to last episode, he was their for Sheldon, but their relationship did not feel important enough for Sheldon to even mention him even once in the show or even in the finale.

    Character Analysis: (Disclaimer: This is NOT a comment about people ‘on the spectrum’. So don’t come after me posting about your “son or daughter” - it’s not about them, And don’t make it about THEM. It’s about a FICTIONAL character named “Sheldon Cooper”. Capisce?!)
    There are 2 realities about “Sheldon’s character”:
    1) We cannot fault him for who he is & how his “brain is wired”.
    2) That said, we have to admit that no matter how brilliant his mind maybe (& a genius*) he is LIMITED. He lacks empathy, he tends to be self-involved, & expect the people around him to accommodate, cater, put up with, & rearrange their lives for him.
    He tends to forget that the reason he SUCCEEDS (or succeeded in life) is because there are many people in his life who are willing to make sacrifices, put themselves last, put up with him, tolerate, and support him. Most of which he is oblivious to… because for him “it’s all about Sheldon”.
    As I wrote in one thread: “Sheldon as a character in a TV sitcom maybe intriguing, interesting, & even entertaining to watch. His zingers & quips are fun to watch & listen to - but would BE HELL TO DEAL WITH or LIVE WITH in “real life”.
    Honestly, He may be the titular character but I love MORE: George, Mary, Meemaw, Georgie, Missy, & Mandy. I find Sheldon grating, irritating, & insufferable AFTER A WHILE.
    He is great “only in small doses”. I wish other beloved characters would make a guest appearance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
    Even til the very END, his Pride & Failure to read into people’s emotions/feelings not only distanced & alienated him from his family but made whatever victories he had in the academe a “Pyrrhic one”.

    • @tcrpgfan
      @tcrpgfan 27 днів тому

      Gotta disagree with you. Because if Sheldon truly lacked empathy... he wouldn't have given Howard, arguably the person he respects the LEAST in the TBBT core cast, words of comfort when the group learned Howard's own mom died. He may not be good with understanding or dealing with emotions properly, but I've always said this about him: If there is one emotion he understands it's grief. If he didn't know what it was like to lose a beloved family member, do you really think he'd care to tell Howard 'When I lost my father. I didn't have any friends to help me through it. You do.'? In that moment, Sheldon essentially told someone he does consider a friend 'I know what that's like and I'm here for you'.

    The part of Mary insisting on Sheldon and Missy getting baptized to save their souls was disturbing. The Baptist do not teach/believe in salvation by baptism, it's more of a confirmation of salvation. In fact, growing up in the South, I have never seen a Baptist church like the one depicted in the series. Their church looks more like an orthodox church (Methodist or Presbyterian). I've never seen a Baptist church with the pastor's podium over to the side like theirs has.

Which meant moving all the way back to Texas. And I don’t believe couches are a needed thing. It was important for Sheldon to learn how to let go and to accept change

    FYI, I hardly watch regular TV for the ridiculous amount of ads bombarding a show. I stream. I only watched this for the FINALE.
    Back in the day in the 70’s & 80’s …even the early 90’s, a 30-minute sitcom had 5-8 minutes of commercials & you got 22-25 minutes of the actual show. 60-minute show had 8-10 minutes of commercials & 50-52 minutes worth of “the actual show”.
    NOW, a 30 minute sitcom has 19 minutes of actual show & 11 mins of commercials. An hour long show has 40-43 minutes of the show & 17-20 mins. Of commercials!

    Sheldon was a robot long before George died. A mass murderer like Charles Manson possesses far more humanity than the 19 years we endured of Sheldon Lee Cooper. Cooper NEVER grew as a character or human, always selfish from the beginning & all the way to the end of The Big Bang Theory. The rest of his family have souls, loving & human. Sheldon just had wants & only viewed the people who had the misfortune to interact with his life as tools to satisfy those wants. He stumbles through life oblivious to the world around him. Giving him a Nobel Peace Prize was a crude joke on the audience. Giving him an award of that magnitude, something that he doesn't appreciate the Humanity of it's reason for existence. The Big Bang Theory would have thrived quite well without Parson's Sheldon Cooper.

    This series finale was a waste. So much of it dedicated to the b-plot story of the baptism, something that could have been done at any time during the last couple seasons and yet they chose to make it part of the finale instead of actually exploring the characters a little more.
    Sadly this will be another forgettable series finale that is anticlimactic and gives nothing to the audience who tuned in for so long.
