    The key to the ending is that Sheldon as as an adult realizes that the greatest gift his parents gave him was they let him have a childhood .

    It was one of the best endings you could get. It felt like a real family, George dies and the show made you think about your life and family. How Sheldon never said anything to his dad before he left for work. The age iam at close to sixty you look back at your parents funeral, i have never cried for a show that was a comedy show. The show runner nailed it ,to wrap up 18 years of two shows. Well done

    I have watched many many sitcoms in my 74 years. They all ended in people going their separate ways, comedy takes over and fun thoughts on what went on throughtout the years. Never ever have i had one end in tragedy. Not once have i cried due to a death. One of the main characters has never passed on. Nobody ever met their maker at the end of the show. I bawled my eyes out. I mean i cried so hard. And the scene that brought me to the kleenex box was little sweetheart Missy and her daddy going out to eat at Red Lobster. I know the entire scene wasnt on the last episode but i recall how George Sr. Gets the lobster cracked and edible for little tiny Missy and then stands to sit back in his seat and Missy says no stay..dad looks dumbfounded and replies ok and smiles. They sit close to finish their meal. I thought of that entire scene and cried like i lost my father. I tell ya this show had its times and I got very tired of Sheldon but put those two actors together in a scene in this show and it was pure gold. I am going to miss the show. I hope the spinoff Bout Georgie and Mandy is done well. Chuck Lorre will bring us good scenes and much fun N happiness I am sure.

    He was socially inept and self centered, and his dad's death didn't change that. When he said that the details of George's funeral wasn't going to change things and were unimportant, he was seriously in jerk mode. When he told his mom that his dad's spirit did not exist, you could get why Missy did not like her own brother.

    Chuck L. AND everyone attached to this show SHOULD take a BIG BOW and understand that YS CAN take their PLACE in tv historic GREATNESS with such shows as Archy Bunker, Maude, Mash, 3s company, THE WALTONS and other great society alternating sitcoms/ comedy- dramas. With this show as well as the BBT, all connected with YS has taught more human lessons/teaching moments which our culture and the human race needs reintroducing ourselves to inorder to get our compassion and hearts back in every day living!!! I pray that all those associated with the show will somehow find a way to keep all the characters participating in further tapings ( even when there are 2 actors for a character) for flashbacks and flashforward scenes as anexample....the comedy/drama blending works for this show. Just like the actors are does with the audience...loved the way Amy stands up to Sheldon's character more in the last episode while she still nudges his ego in the same sentence. Missy's young character is filled with left open boatloads of possibilities due to the amazingly talented actress whose storyline could incorporate lots of material for both actresses....same goes for Memaw's character. Hopefully George's character can be brought bk with "lost/unseen clips and storylines not only with commentary by older Sheldon's character but by older Georgie's character also. This is a show that made my husband cry ( a hard nosed former Marine, who was/is able to identify with this family dynamics on many levels more then most would be wanting to admit...) so when we say that you Chuck L. And the whole YS team have solidified your places in tv history, it's not a compliment...in our home and by the looks of this comment board, it's practically a fact. Thank you in advance for not giving up on any of these actors, as well as, finding a whole new buttload of ways to not only tell Sheldon's story but the ongoing story of the Coopers and their community of family, friends and everyone there in their Texas community. Sincerely, Mrs. Z and CWO4 MDZ [USMC, Retired]

    Many years ago, my Dad dealt with religion with a significant outburst. An uncle of his passed away. During the service, the pastor began bad mouthing the uncle as being a "Bad Christian ect ect ect". That uncle didn't go to church and according to that pasture, that made him an unholy man and a bad person. According to Dad, his next oldest sibling and his Mother each put hands on him in an attempt to calm him down and keep him from making a scene. Their efforts failed. Dad knew the uncle well and knew he was a religious man, after all, an ALL KNOWING GOD doesn't need you in a specific building or paying the clergy in order to know your heart. Dad blew up, shouted his peace at the pastor, and stormed out.
    Dad says he has not been religious since then.
    I have my own reasons for not being a religious person. Despite my devout catholic mothers best efforts.
    I can understand Missy's response to the idea of religion and the situation she is responding too.

    • @tmitch1950
      @tmitch1950 26 днів тому +2

      An open casket is only appropriate during “visitation”. It would have been closed during a church service. During the service, the casket would have been covered with a funeral cloth called a pall. If George had been in the service, the pall would have been replaced with a flag when the casket was closed and as it exited the church.

    • @patevans3709
      @patevans3709 24 дні тому +1

      @tmitch1950 It varies according to the religion and denomination. It is not unusual--especially 20 or 30 years ago--for the casket to be open during the service, especially in Baptist or non-denominational churches in the Southern part of the US. It is up to the family's decision. In addition, not all denominations cover a casket with a pall/cloth. A pall symbolizes the baptismal gown, but not all denominations who baptise as infants use a pall/cloth over the casket.

    • @matthewtamez5069
      @matthewtamez5069 27 днів тому +6

      Yeah as has been said, southern baptists wouldn’t do that. As a southern Baptist, baptism is a pretty personal choice.
      I remember when I was baptized, I had a sit down with the church leaders and my parents. My parents were instructed not to speak. The meeting was basically determining if I was being goaded into this or if I had made the choice myself.
      That’s something it also sorta gets wrong there, as my southern baptist church believes baptism is just an outward showing of faith. A ceremony that actually has no bearing on the soul. It’s the faith that saves you. Baptism is just a public exclamation of that faith. Not sure if that’s true for all SB churches.
