Hello friends, in today's tutorial I will be covering sound design and arrangement in the style of CharlesTheFirst utilizing Vital and a plethora of Ableton stock effects.
(Note that as an alternative to Ableton's effects, Vital's distortion modes, filters, and your native DAWs alternatives can also be used to great affect.)
Charles' signature sound comes from not just his face melting distorted and processed sine waves, but from his next level arrangements - incorporating melodic and harmonic lines between heavy bass interludes.
However, one can reduce the complex arrangements down to 3 simple parts - melody, harmony, and a bass. From there, complexity can be introduced through experimentation.
As always, be sure to like if you enjoyed the video, comment your questions and suggestions, and subscribe and click the bell to stay up to date with future tutorials :)

Hey dude, this video is a holy text. You covered the basses superbly, but there are so many melodic features, pads, percussive elements, sick effects, transitions and ambient ear candy in Charle's music that I think he deserves another video.

Your tutorials have changed the way I listen to electronic music. I’m beginning to pick up on how certain basses and sounds are made
I be like “oh that sounds like a sine wave with some unison, maybe some distortion, an lfo etc “
I’m grateful for your tutorials man, they have helped accelerate my learning process. Sending love from FL

I recently had a tooth pulled, and listened to his album The ASCENT while it was happening, and nitrous was hitting, and I was just missing him hard, but I left that dentist's chair reinvigorated towards sound design. I really appreciate you making this video. Hope you're well.

So you post a video about Charlesthefirst, which makes you the king.
Also, Charles the First was a king of England.
Also also, today is EXACTLY 269 days until the next Martin Luther King day.
Also ALSO also, last thing I heard on the radio was a song by B.B. King.
I think the Universe is aligning perfectly.
