Chris is really an inspiration, as I want to be an astronaut when I grow up. I hope to go to Mars one day, wether that be a one way trip or not 0_0.

It's a monopropellant pack. It works by shooting out the inert propellant, which also pushes you in the opposite direction.
And, maybe? It's easier to use the Canadarm, as the monopropellant is a limited resource up there.
