- How bloody good does this look!!!
Not everything went to plan but i got it done in one day at a Caravan Park using a bottle jack and a $20 trolley jack hahaha. You Beauty!!!!
I hope you guys love this vid and gives you a laugh before you give the lift kit a crack yourselves.
Note - this is not a "how to" or Installation video. Do not using this as a installation guide as its pretty deadly. I do not take any responsibility to your stuff ups or dumb ideas haha.
Check out the link to the kit below! They guys from Savage Tech Australia have been extremely helpful with everything.

The shudder on take off is no longer! Towing the caravan has only gotten better! I am very happy!
Now lets take this rig up north and give it the Ultimate Test!!!!
Hope you enjoyed my little clips at the end of vid too.
Wheels By The Ocean - Lapping Australia
CHEERS!!!
Who else is here cause they were reviewing the Cannon.. Now I'm hooked to your videos.. Nice videos, well done!!!
Hahaha so good to hear that!
Thank you 😊
We got hooked watching you tube vids too and now we travelling Australia. Just hope we are inspiration to others 😀
🍻 Cheers mate!!!
Took delivery of my new Cannon X with the lift kit installed last week by GWM Mandurah, we hooked up the camper and buggered off to Denmark down south, the Cannon pulls like a school boy up hills with plenty of down low grunt, I fitted a throttle control unit as well, what an improvement.
My only concern I have is for my leather seats now my ass is further from the ground, sliding out of the seat will wear over time as GWM forgot to add a grab handle to the drivers side door and now I have to swing off the steering wheel to get in and out, the other doors all have two grab handles each ???
Another niggle is there is no courtesy center ceiling lamp in the roof, no map lights in the front console either just the tiny spot lights which is annoying apart from that she's all golden.
Sensational, and it looks incredible jacked up, plus you're doing exactly what I'm doing with mine, it's so awesome to see what the results will be before l do it. Beautifully DONE!
Legend!!! Thank you so much! How good is it!!!
I would of loved to watch a vid of someone fitting it before I did hahaha
Looks good. Don't forget to adjust your headlights to compensate for the new lift height or you will blind everyone coming towards you. Keep an eye on your front CV joints that's a fair lift to do without a diff drop to bring the CV joint angles back down. 👍👍
Thanks mate :) headlight adjustment button on dash is very handy :) and will keep an eye on everything. Nothing seems to be over stressed though so pretty happy with it all :)
🍻 😀
An Absolute belter of an effort mate👍👍👍 looks awesome Rock On , it looks Bad Ass 🤙🤙🤙
Hahaha thanks mate!!! A effort indeed! Haha
Just a tip you always measure from the middle of the Hub to the guard. Not the ground ..And your power steering takes up a lot of the pull from your wheel alignment ..Get one done always when you play with the suspension ..
Cheers mate :)
My bad haha 🍻
@@wheelsbytheocean All good my friend ..I just bought the XSR yesterday, cant wait to get it home and do a engine tune on it ..
Nice! Get mine in white next week. Can't wait
Beautiful!! You'll love it!
Hey mate, awesome videos❤ jist wondering with the 285s did you still have to do the body cut after the new suspension went in?
Nope. Once I lifted it it stopped rubbing. It is very close but all good now :)
I do want bigger tyres when these wear out but I'll do body chop then. Savage tech does it pretty cheap and does a neat job.
Looks so much better with the fat tyres!
My rims are positive 10 offset so gives some nice poke too.
Hey Jordan, car looks really good.
Just a few questions because im thinking of doing similar to mine.
Did your fuel consumption go up much with the lift and new tyres and you also said in the beginning that you didn't modify the car because you right on the brim with towing such a big van, wouldn't this be a issue now with being over the 3 ton mark?
Fuel consumption has gone up a bit because of the tyres and a little more wind resistance with the add ons.
I had to get rid of some stuff and some extra water and fuel I used to carry. Just made it work because I really wanted to beef up the ute haha.
It's all good. And tows better then ever have 😀
You still happy with the ute and suspension mate? How many kms now?
Hey mate, I'm so happy with the Ute! We love it. 52,000kms now.
Suspension is amazing! It absolutely loved the Gibb and also Cape York. All that corrugation and its still good as new.
I'm working on a 50,000kms review at the moment :)
I'd definitely buy another GWM when it's time.
@wheelsbytheocean I was sceptical as of them considering where they started. You and a few others have completely changed that for me so thanks for that was looking at the ldv t60 but hearing rust is a huge issue in them
Hey mate,
Loving the vids.
I wanted to see if you have an uodate since you have been running this suspension for 6 months or so now, I want them in my Cannon but was worried about the quality as they are effectively unknown compenents compaired to Dobinson, Bilstein Fulcrum etc, in the grand scheme of things.
Do you have any feedback on how they are performing now? How they have held? Have you had any issues with them? Any other details about them?
Thanks in advance!
Hey mate, I do want to do an update on how all the gear is going.
The suspension is going perfectly. I tore the rear shock boot somehow but savage tech is giving me a new one. The suspension has been absolutely perfect and bloody comfortable too. I have used the settings too to see what suits us best. It's good to play around with adjustments. Only thing I would change is I would have gone for the 300kg rear springs as mine are only 200kg spring and just with the caravan on the stronger springs would have suited better.
I have nothing bad to say about this suspension and I would definitely recommend it over some of the others I've seen people try.
There are so many rigid kits out there that take away all of the comfort.
Cheers mate :)
Also I've done almost 30,000kms with then in there and used them on the toughest roads in Australia without any issues and while towing heavy caravan haha.
That is a great quick high level update on the suspension performance, I really appreciate it! I think 30,000kms in hard offroad conditions and towing a 3 tonne van would have shown the weaknesses if any by now for sure. Based on that then I will pull the trigger on a set for myself. I hear you with the rear leaf rating, I still think I will go the 200kgs as I don't tow all day everyday like you, so I will put in some air bags to level out when I do have the big van or my other heavy trailers in tow, bags have helped in my past experiences with other Ute's I have had.
FYI I have just clicked 115,000kms in my girl which is a DEC 2020 Build, Delivered May 2021. Still going strong never missed a beat never had a single thing go wrong, I can't believe how good these Cannon's are. I sold my 2022 DT RAM 1500 Limited after only 9 months and 20,500kms and just run in my Cannon X now. TBH other than a cool sounding V8 & 4.5T towing capacity, the Cannon does everything the RAM did and in some cases better, the front seat comfort in the Cannon is 100% better that the RAM in everyway.
Anyway enough about that, thanks again. Now get back to the trip of a lifetime and keep making your great videos! @@wheelsbytheocean
This looks great. Have you noticed a change in your fuel consumption?
I fitted all the accessories at the same time so had to say which is main cause but I'd say tyres are the bigger factor.
Used to get 17.3 towing van
Now get 19 average while towing 3T
I thought you could only legally get max 2 inch lift, is there an exception to the rule? Al what tyres did you end up putting on it 33's?
@user-fi5iq5ws5i this kit is adjustable. Mine is actually adjusted to 2inch but yeah with my tyres it's probably close to the limit.
I think qld is 2inch suspension and 1 or 2 inch tyres. Each state is different.
Looks great 👍
Thanks mate!!!!
Love it mate👍 good job getting it done in the campsite lol
Hahahaha thanks guys!!!
@wheelsbytheocean hopefully now the kit comes with detailed instructions 😂
Hey bro I've got a 2021 Canon, what's your thoughts about me straight piping mine? 😂
I just got contacted by an exhaust place who wanted us to do that to ours but I don't want to touch the motor. So just leaving mine stock.
If it was just my ute and not the family car I'd probably do it. Someone did say it didn't make a huge difference in sound also from dpf back
Awesome man!
Maximum effort, maximum payoff!
Truck looks great 👍🏻
Thank you so much!!! How good is it!!
Mate! How big are your tyres on stock suspension? I'm
looking to change wheels and tyres on stock. let me know thanks
Hey Stock was 265/60R18
Mine are 285/60R18 which i think fit on stock rims too. But may scrub at full lock. The guys at Ozzy tyres are very helpful if you want to chat with them about it :)
@wheels by the ocean. Hi mate, while installing the 2' Lift, did you also install the upper lift arms by Savage? Is it essential to install.
Hey mate, no I didn't install new upper control arms. I just used the stock ones. I've got not issues. Alignment is all good :)
@@wheelsbytheocean, would you also recommend getting the Savage upper lift arms?
@YU-ed5wn I never got the control arms but I still haven't even got a wheel alignment since I fitted the lift kit haha. So not sure if I need them or not. I gotta get new tyres in a few weeks and will see how the alignment looks
@@wheelsbytheocean thank you. Following your channel, look forward to your next update.
Well done, yes your right I will pay someone else 😂😂but you’ve saved over a thousand bucks and you know all about it,so win ,win 👍👍👁👁😃😃🐕🦺❤️🇦🇺
Hahahaha yes mate! So right! I laughed at myself while making this video haha pretty quality parts fitter there 😜
Yes definitely saved some cash. That's what I'm all about.
🍻 👏 ✌️
@@wheelsbytheocean what size of that tire?
@@muhammadsaddrift2170
Wheels - 18X9 - Positive 10 offset.
Tyres - 285/60R18 - Monsta Terrain Gripper
All from Ozzy Tyres
@@wheelsbytheocean thank you man
Hows the kit going now 12ish months on
Hey mate. Lift Kit is still going strong :) no issues with it at all. Still very comfortable and still feels as new.
Handled Cape York and the Gibb corrugation with ease 👌🏽
Did you get a wheel alignment after?
Hahaha I should have!!
Definitely recommend a wheel alignment!
Chewed my tyres out pretty fast 😜
@@wheelsbytheocean no doubt haha. Just came along your videos since buying a cannon x. Thanks for the reply 👍
@@stibrumby09 nice!! Congrats on your Cannon! Love ours so much
Heaps of cool stuff on the channel if you wanna check it out.
Cheers mate
@@wheelsbytheocean watching them now lol
Does this not cause drive line vibrations and ware?
@@getdreaded2245 absolutely not. It actually took the driveline vibration away and drives heaps smoothly 😀
How did you find the stock shocks and bushing?
Awesome when normal driving but very bouncy in front when towing.
There was a bit of a shudder on take off at stock height when towing too.
I didn't mind the stock suspension if I wasn't towing :)
But now I got the lift kit I would never go back hahaha
Thanks. Love the nitrogen lift kit. Does the new 2.5 lift install affect the warranty?
Mine shudders on take off so with the kit it doesn’t do it anymore
Mine never does it now since I lifted it. When we had stock suspension and towing the van it used to shudder like crazy. Now it's all good. It worked for us 😀
❤❤❤
im that cheap i,d try it, fuck it then pay a towie to get some where to fix it
Ain't that the truth!!! Lucky the Cannon comes with 5 years free roadside assistance including towing to dealer :) oh happy days hahahaha
