Good evening, Marine. I very much liked seeing this bowl come together. I share your appreciation for beautiful wood. Thanks for bringing us along on this amazing project. Peace be with you. Semper Fi
The color change from the chatoyance is simply amazing! It goes from a lovely chocolate, to that brilliant, flashing blonde. Well turned, Mr. Humphrey.
Wow. I never get enough of watching a well-done segmented turning. Rod, I believe you and ThePapa1947 are the masters of this genre. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Rod for another great video. Many years ago I had connections with a major lumber/timber supplier. The top class builders had a great demand for sapele, mahogany and afromosia in that order to make doors and their surrounds in that order so I have been associated with those woods for a long time. The bowl turned out just beautiful. Semper Fi.
The changing colours are incredible awesome and quite! Such a simple shape and yet so utterly mesmerising. One of the most beautiful bowls you have ever made in my view. Mr Humphrey you are an artist. Semper Fi.
I have been making a lot of sapele bowls lately. Usually a bowl from a board. It is my new favorite wood. Thanks for posting. Rather expensive wood but beautiful.
Very nice! I agree with you about Sapele. A few years ago I got a Sapele board 9/4x9'x2' for a countertop project. I only used one-half of it so I turned a few bowls. Not one of them has cracked or warped.
Beautiful as always. I put on my shades 😎. A tip I got from a furniture repair channel. Use dental floss ( tape) to force the glue, or in your case resin, down into the crack.
Pretty piece. I recently watched Pappa1947 do a walnut segmented bowl. Now, after seeing your Sapele bowl I’m pretty determined that I’ll do another segmented piece before too long. Thanks for sharing.
I had been unaware of sapele until about 5 years ago. Now it is everywhere, mostly as a replacement for mahogany. I think it used to be the poor mans mahogany but now it can be more expensive. It is quite beautiful. It turns well as you demonstrated. And the finish can be outstanding, again as you demonstrated. As mentioned by another commenter the chatoyance is brilliant. You done good Rod. 👍👍 Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
@@RHumphrey I am sure that chunk of Mesquite is eyeballing you back. I know the wood is much harder than my head. It may be good for some segmented turning, or a bowl from a board type of turning, or a shallow plate type bowl.
Very beautiful piece Rod! The chatoyance in that wood is amazing. Have been avoiding a segmented piece yet, simply because I don't have the patience for the glue up. But to be able to avoid having to deal with end grain and get all side grain has me rethinking. Maybe one of these days, with the right wood...🤔 Wes @ Piedra Designs
Wow!
Thank you, Renae! 😊
Top, your videos are always entertaining, thank you for sharing your expertise.
WOW, who ever receives this Beautiful Bowl is so lucky .
