Mugsy deserves to join the Hall of Fame

Hell no, he didn't produce enough on the court to be in the hall of Fame. He only averaged 7 points and 7 assist for his career. Only averaged 10 points or more in 3 seasons out of 15. The hall of Fame is the elite of the elite, he was never in that category. Good player, he it's even close to a hall of Fame player based off stats. That would open the door for the hall of Fame to more players with better stats. Good player for his size, but he was never a elite point guard or considered one of the best while playing.

@@jamesjack7074 that doesn't make him a Hall of famer, being short and making it to the NBA doesn't automatically make him a NBA hall of Famer. He was never a All star player or on any NBA defensive list and averaged under 10 points a game for his career. He didn't have Hall of fame stats, it's based on play not Height. He was never considered one of the top five point guards in the NBA while he was playing.

@@larmond. Spud was great. But there is a huge difference between a guy who is 5'7 and 5"3. Spud was great but Mugsy was really inspirational because he used his speed and his being so close to the ground (compared to the giants) that they actually feared playing against Mugsy because they knew he had a chance to steal the ball every time they dribbled Big men were always looking to see where Mugsy was on the court because if they couldn't see him it meant he was behind them and he was going to steal it. I grew up in Charlotte from 91-98. We split season tickets with my best friend next door, Carson. His dog was named Muggsy. I attended Muggsy’s summer basketball camp 3 times where I was given the task to guard Muggsy’s son. A lot of times that didn’t end too well 😂
Muggsy had a profound impact in the city of Charlotte. He was an iconic person that brought our culture a unique posture to believe in yourself despite what it looks like to others. He was always my favorite player to watch because he reminded me of myself: the one many doubted.
This was very timely for me to watch. I’m nearly 3 years sober by the mercy of Jesus Christ. I have been struggling with what God has called me to do this past month. Some of that has been influenced on what others have said about this calling paired with my own unbelief. Muggsy believed who he was. He knew his identity. Im a child of God, more than a conqueror through Jesus who loves me, rooted and established in love with the ability to do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Thank you Muggsy for reminding me that I am who I am because of what I believe.
1 Corinthians 16:9- A great door for effective work has opened to me, but there are many who oppose me.
I watched Muggsy live this out. It’s my turn to walk through this door that the Lord Jesus Christ has opened for me…

This documentary right here and that heart Muggsy had is so inspirational! I can relate to this on so many levels. I am 5"6 42 years old now at 235 pounds and I used to play running back and linebacker because I used to feel like a man among boys out on that field. All them small and short jokes didn't matter on that football field cause it was NEVER about the size of the dog in a fight, but rather the fight in the dog! I used to impose my will on ANYBODY that got in front of me just like Muggsy did to EVERYONE that ever doubted his heart. Thank you for this! Muggsy I hope you read this, I grew up in Camden, NJ and my older brother was killed in 1983 by a racist. You know what he got for that? 7 years in jail. @@jrojas1807 Who said people didn't want him on their team? It was said nobody believed in Mugsy, I simply pointed out that plenty of people believed in him.

I was a Hornets fan as a teenager. Larry Johnson, Kendall Gill, Mugsy Bogues, Alonzo Mourning, David Wingate. They had a squad, everybody was jus young. Wish they would have stayed together a while.

What a great story on so many levels. Guy is so inspirational and has such a positive energy about him. Played at the highest level during possibly the most competitive and difficult time in the history of the sport and flourished. Amazing heart and self belief. Such creativity to develop his own style of play when there weren't role models of his stature to learn from and emulate. Awesome stuff.

Mugsy is the greatest little guy that has ever picked up a basketball.. I don't care what anyone says about him and his height because none of those haters have ever played 1 second in the NBA.. If you are 5,10ft and under then you have to be either crazy or a great athlete like Mugsy was so I commend him on his determination and the heart that he had to play against the hardest players to have played the game.. Mugsy played during a time when they could foul you every play and no fouls would get called.. Mugsy was a warrior and he deserves all of the accolades because he overcame the obstacles and diversity and became the greatest little guy to play the game..

For those who didn't experience it, it's hard to overstate the cultural impact that Muggsy and those Charlotte teams had not only on basketball, but popular culture. While it will always be my favorite era in NBA history, it was also an era plagued by several 'what ifs' that sowed the seeds for the demise of the Eastern Conference, which was stacked with enough young talent to keep it competitive following MJ's retirement. Obviously you had the tragic passing of Reggie Lewis in Boston and the premature breakup of the Hornets, but then Shaq fled to L.A, Penny and Hill's careers were decimated by injuries, the Celtics missed out on Duncan in the draft, McGrady left VC in Toronto prior to becoming a superstar, Ray Allen was shipped out West etc. All these events essentially paved the way for two decades of West dominance. Too bad we never got to see the Hornets and the rest of these teams battle it out in the way they were meant to.
