Thanks for this. I have two Ken dolls with nice faces but moulded hair and I have been scared to just cut into their heads. That sounds awful, like I would let someone else do it first but I have never done a male doll and really appreciate the fact that you did this on camera!

I needed this, I'm buying the new bmr1959 ken doll with makeup, and I might be skipping some steps, but I had no idea where to get proper hair as I wanted him to have a bit of a fro instead of his real short neon green hair, this is so smart! 2 for one doll restyle! Thanks so much for posting!!

i love the transformation. i hate molded hair as well, i was wondering if you could do one with straighter hair, to see if there is a difference?

Wow!! Two great looking dolls. I did a scalp transport but I used flocking powder. I have a few of the mountain climbing dolls that can donate some hair! Never thought of using them. Thanks for the post.
He looks great, I have put this head on a AA cheerleader ken and he is so much better now.

You did such an amazing job! I often use dolls when testing templates for sewing 😂 but I absolutely hate the new moulded on hair of some of these dolls. It just limits the styles you can create.

MitzyDolls I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to u. I’ve had knee surgery & couldn’t get to the store to give u a doll to redo. I also can’t find the doll in stores either so. Hopefully once I find him will u still custom him?
I understand and I know it's hard to find him but yes when you do all still customize him for you 😁 I hope you are doing good and everything came out great

I'm not a fan of moulded hair on ken either and have thought about doing the same to a vintage ken doll, your video sure makes me want to do it even more, have you found a made to move body for him yet? The new BMR1959 neon hair made to move ken could he be a body donor? Just an idea! Keep up the good work!

Was it not possible to file down the molded hair with a Dremel tool? It looked like there was a “normal” scalp once you cut the mold off.
Instead of cutting off the top of his head, you could use a small Dremel with a diamond bit and sand off the unwanted “hair.” I’ve done this to make a bald figure before.

I roller skate and i wanna do a mini me with roller skating costumes, so i bought a dark skin ken but the hair is like this ken in the beginning if the video, so i will try to do this as well and put some afro. I also need some roller skates, but is hard to find it for the Ken, so i will maybe do it myself. This video was very helpful. to my dear mattel who created a molded hair in ken doll plssssss stop created a molded hair in ken doll becouse its so ugly. thats why i dont buy a new kendoll this year

I would not destroy any other Barbie for that. You can also buy hair strands in afroshop. I already made hair part of it for myself.
