  • How To Flocking Doll Hair/ Adult Craft ~ SALON TIME #19 WATERPROOF FLOCKING! Also, how I customized my Made To Move Curvy too! ~ I think this is a “first” for how I adhered my flock, which is homemade custom cut, doll hair flock. Although I do try the usual fluffy flock in this video, I don’t like it with this adhering medium.
    Mod Podge is NOT used to glue flock onto doll heads in this tutorial video!
    Use this: www.amazon.com/18008-Kwik-Cau...
    Some ideas shown for custom facial hair flock work is goatee, beard, mutton chops, soul patch, moustach & side burns. I think I forgot foo-man-choo and a handlebar???!!! Hmmmmm... I have to note that for some more handsome male Ken dolls!
    Shown as well is short & shaved hair afro styles, side shaved hair & pixie fairy hair.
    I used various male dolls to show some variance. Used in this video is Cheslea friend doll Tommy? Then full size Alan, Steven, Ken, Ryan and Ryan from High School musical.
    For lady dolls I used, Nikki, Curvy Dancer Barbie and Liv head with Made To Move body hybrid.
    This was very satisfying for me to complete this idea from my head and personalize more of my doll world dolls and bring them to life! What a great way to recycle a portion of broken or ruined dollies too!
    Hope you get some inspiration to give your dolls some custom facial hair & shaved hair looks that can get wet! Don't forget, this idea & technique will work on any vinyl doll heads, like Monster High, Bratz, Ever After High, The Fresh Dolls, Disney Descendants, Integrity dolls and more!
    Have a great weekend dear Jammer family!!!
    Much Love, Mama Jammer XO

    Considering that far too many dolls are being made cheaply, and guys have molded hairstyles rather than rooted, this is what we have to do now to get what we want.
    I miss Shaving Fun Ken from my teen years, I felt it added a level of maturity for girls to have different levels of ages in their doll's to make proper family units and couple's.
    Some face molds definitely screamed "parent" while others were strictly "teen".
    This broad scale tutorial is awesome and I think I may have to keep a few dolls just to snip their hair off. Maybe even some of my Liv wigs.....
    Thanks for making his and going through your trial and error process.

      Yes! My pleasure Carrie!!! I am so glad I stopped and did video for this all! I almost didn't when I started Scottie.... then went, I should, just in case she is cool! LOL
      Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for watching! Love to hear if you do it! No doubt it is fun to have all the color options when you start looking around at your scrap dolls or of the busted body ones for hair stealing! I recently had a white haired Tinkerbell in a grab bag... cannot wait to find a doll that will need white flock on her head! Maybe I will grab that shaved head white haired one and re-do her??? Hmmmmmmmm :D
      What you say at first is so true... this really made me enjoy some of my stiff bodied male dolls more than before! And last week I did come across a shave Ken with fully rooted hair. Was a treat!

    That's so cool. If only the Barbie Fashionistas Zig & Zag side cut has like that instead of being molded on.

    • @SB4E.2
      @SB4E.2  6 років тому

      The cornroll braided one? I dunno.... that is one that I don't mind the molded part for the uniqueness of the braids... But, if you did want to cover them, they are not too high in profile, you probably could use the caulk quite thick near the scalp area and work up the sides of the braids with the hair flock and then do the last coat thin over the actual braids.

      Super Buddies Forever cornrows with plastic mold look so lame, it would have looked much better with actual braids, maybe ones that go down to the rest of her hair length as well.

      Bxbe Msp I showed it in the video. It’s clear caulk. Paintable caulk, not silicone. You can get it in a big tube commonly which is inconvenient if you don’t have a caulk gun. Although some just bought it, cut through the side to use some and threw the tube out. Then there is the toothpaste type of tube. Those are on amazon.

    Hi! Id like to change Bmr 1959 green hair to blond flocking but I'm wondering if u can flock over the green flocking? The reason I'm saying that is I know that once you take off the green flocking there won't be any hairline at all and I want to follow the hairline that's already there. So I figure if I just go over it with a new flocking I won't lose that hairline. But I'm wondering would that be weird to have the green flocking underneath with blonde hair on top? LOL.

    I’m planning on making a custom Barbie of myself just for grins, and I have an undercut, so I can’t wait to try this out!! And if it works for me, I’m gonna use it on a vintage Ken I got today!! His factory flocking was so nasty that I had to remove it- it was all sticky and worn off!! I hope this method works for me so I can give poor bald Ken some hair back!! 😂 Totally destroys any worth he had on the collector market, but that’s ok... He probably wasn’t worth much with the damaged flocking either 😂

      Numero Letter Thanks for the update! I think you will find it easy. Just don’t forget the water on your brush to control the caulk. Someone did it and said it was so messy... figured out they missed that part. Hopefully you are doing the same color for the hair? That would def be easy to cover once the flock goes on. And I am hoping all goes well.... this stuff sticks to bathtubs and tiles and such.

      Hello! Thank you. So happy when this is still of help and someone leaves a sweet comment to say so. Thank you for that!
      Good question… well we put caulk all around our sinks and baseboards and tubs… so it is a durable construction material… that said I don’t know because I would not know how hot you make your water…and I never was in the spot to do this technique and THEN boil wash. I took care of the present hair first if it needed that. Then do this. All in all it would be my guess that as long as it is not scalding, and you don’t pick at it till it’s dry is the best chance.
      Hope that helps!

      Good question. Well it’s better than modge podge. And as safe for a kid as taking a bath in a bathtub sealed with caulk or silicone. 🤷‍♀️ Even if a factory head too, none are good for children that would be small enough to be using a doll head as a teether.

      Greyson Lauv You could go on top of it, but could get messy. Later I did chic chambray.. the AA lady with white buzz cut... I just soaked the factory stuff off. It was easier than it should have been. She looks fabulous with this technique and custom cut white flock from actual doll hair. I intend to do the BMR fella with green hair the same way. Soak the factory stuff off.
      The old Todd (Stacey size) with factory buzz cut looks like it has a far harder silicone used. Still with patience you could get that off. But they look pretty good as is.

  • @rouzithebee
    @rouzithebee Рік тому

    Hi. Thanks for the video. Is your glue actually sanitary silicone? It sure looks like it but we don’t have the same brand here. The product on amazon which you have linked seems different in that it looks white and the white caulk is less elastic than silicone. Whereas silicone is clear.

    • @SB4E.2
      @SB4E.2  Рік тому +2

      Hi there! I am unsure after all these years what the link is. What I do know… I didn’t use silicone. Silicone is definitely stickier and harder to work with. I for sure used clear caulk. As well if you wanted to paint the “root” a color for the scalp to match, you cannot paint silicone so I would not use it for that reason. That said… any clear caulk would work. Any brand. As long as it’s paintable off that scalp need is needed. Now would silicone work, sure, absolutely. Just not my favorite medium for doll stuff. Caulk cleans easier if I get messy too.
      The link I know would have had the toothpaste style tube too. That is only because it’s easier to use. The gun style tubes would work just fine. Just need more effort to manipulate from the gun and reseal/close the product for reuse of so much product in that kind of tube.
      I still use this product to this day for home projects… so let me search and see about a new link to give you. 🤗

    • @SB4E.2
      @SB4E.2  Рік тому +2

      Ok! So I checked the link on the video. On my end it is showing the exact right clear caulk product. So not sure if where you are, if it is changing it to something similar and available to you? Is showing clear caulk in a toothpaste styled tube.
      Otherwise where is an example of a gun tube type… keys being, it’s caulk, it’s paintable and it’s clear….
      www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-Alex-Plus-10-1-oz-Clear-Paintable-Latex-Caulk/3025039?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-pnt-_-bng-_-LIA_PNT_221_Glue-Adhesives-Caulk-Repair-_-3025039-_-Online-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&msclkid=2f5a1be674cb1cddbb3a78a15b524da4&gclid=2f5a1be674cb1cddbb3a78a15b524da4&gclsrc=3p.ds
      Do you have something like this?
      Again… silicone will work persay. Just be careful. It’s so sticky. I would not want to risk getting it on the dolls face or anything unless that was my only choice.
      Hope this helps!

    If you wanted to do the flocking with a cool shaved head pattern how would you do that? Would you just cut it out after flocking with a sharp razor or go about it with a toothpick and take it from there?

    • @SB4E.2
      @SB4E.2  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Great question. I have yet to try it but have thought about it for the petite gal with green hair and just painted brown side shave with design.... I’ve wanted to enhance her side shave. 😊 So! Hmmmm... brainstorming thoughts 🧠 I would think maybe the Toothpick idea while the caulk is wet would be my first try. Carefully.... less dragging the toothpick and more slowly moving the caulk , if that makes sense. Wet the toothpick. Or dragging slowly but patting down any thick gobbing up of the caulk that may bulk unnaturally. that makes me think the flock must be very fine. Maybe one coat. I’ve never ever tried cutting it off on a doll head. But have around bathtub uses... easy when blade is sharp, caulk is thick and the tub is behind it. Not sure about the plastic doll head behind it for fear of cutting it. .... then I am thinking something thin but wider than a toothpick, like a butter knife or a flat cuticle pusher... where you can just carefully press the slit shape into your pattern just like a powers clipper edge? Rather than dragging? This sounds really hopeful..... all the while never forget, keep the instrument wet. Or else the caulk will be sticky and then any shaping is lost.
      Let me know if any of this works!

      Hello! I did a video on many types of heads for head swaps. I may have shown the differences with the boys.... not sure exactly which kind Blain is... does he novel on a full pivot like modern male heads? Then yes, it should work. Otherwise... does Blaine neck just go in circles with no tilt, those are way different and hard to rehead. Esp from an older head system to a more modern one. Above my pay grade.
      But if you have the ones with the same system as modern day, they should work. If any kind of bobble head, just put a rubber band or yarn around the neck peg.
