Sam, you’re a mad lad. Two WRs in the space of a month and some change is some stuff I gotta acknowledge because you’ve got a firm grasp on it. Well played my friend. Keep up the good work cause the pop offs are worth it!
Congratulations my guy!!!!! you're gonna bust 48:1x no doubt about it, you've been doing so amazing and are making hella leaps with your consistency. Don't rush getting to 1X, and before you even realize you'll be knocking on 0X. Amazing WR!!
just casually rewatching this run and wow, it could become a sub 48.10 with 6/6 hairpin and a clean oxide. Plus one Temple SC, one barrell in Bluff, crates RNG for Tizi Crazy clean run. Clean boomerangs, clean TA skips, clean double tizi see you live!
For me, he is simply my favourite character in the franchise (which is quite lucky really LOL) but for most people, its because Tiny is bigger and takes up more of the screen, making seeing things like items in your way a little bit harder, its not that big of a deal though, hence why some still use him, hope this helped!
You sadly cannot get uka/aku masks when in boss races, so getting the speed required is not really doable without ridiculous means that are simply not safe for the speedrun. Hope this helped!
Good player. Good speedrun. Too bad he messed up in the Race Gin 1/3 in the Final and in the Final in Oxide in the 3/3. I would close with less time, sometimes it is impossible not to make a mistake somewhere. It would be perfect if you can get it next time. a hug, see you next time
Hypno, you are doing the wrong thing when you activate the mask right away. I am writing about this because this is not the first time I have seen you make this mistake. When activated, the mask increases your speed to 20k units, regardless of whether it is improved or not. A non-improved mask lasts 8 seconds, an improved mask lasts 12 seconds. If the route on the track allows it, then it’s better to make an extra lap and take a second box. The only exception would be tracks like Roo Tubes. After all, in the end, what difference does it make on which lap you activate the mask? And of course, congratulations on the new record. It’s a pity that a mistake was made on the last lap. Improving the record by 11 seconds would be a great result.
Masks in general have not been pushed in this game in terms of maximizing utilization. Park's is a bit simpler. You are right, we should save the mask until we have 10 wumpa ideally, but then the question is, which wumpa do we get? We want to use the mask lap 1, maybe, since our speed is lower that lap, but should we get the first box of wumpa, or the second one? First box is slower if you can execute the tunnel box well, and the two straggler wumpa, if you get 8 from the boxes, complete this. Obviously, the first box would be faster if you don't get 8, and need to hit the other box, but if you are feeling lucky, you can risk it with just the tunnel box. So here are the things we need to account for with masks. Masks make SGs easier and stronger due to your fire speeds being faster themselves, and you want to have the mask end upon gettin an SG, ideally. This is so you can froggy out the increased speed when you are not in mask, to maximize the mask timesave. This latter thing is what makes Park's mask weird to me. The strat ideas we have are: - Get 10 wumpa before the tunnel box, use it once entering the tunnel, end on the small SG before the end of the lap - Get 10 wumpa with the tunnel box, start mask asap, same as above ending - Save mask for lap 2, use mask on the small downhill lap 1, end mask on the grass SC SG - Do what Hypno does, using mask earlier, but not go for the far off wumpa, get wumpa in tunnel, using the mask after getting yellow fire. End while getting the small SG off the last grass cut All have reason for being the preferred move, even the 4th option. Remember, the time you spend waiting to use mask could have been time spent... using the mask. If you execute the SG right, it is still very good timesave-wise. I wouldn't be surprised if with further testing this isn't the worst of the 4 (although it could still be). I can test these 4 later, and give you the results as to which yields the fastest lap 3 pace. If lap 2 you can get 21 or faster, it should just about break even with using it lap 1 if you get 24 23 that run. Lap 2 mask you should get 26 21. This is all considering the speed buff from mask is useful enough with sacred
Alright, I've done some testing, tldr, don't get 10 wumpa, use it once you get Yellow fire. Skip the wider wumpa and get the tunnel wumpa while having mask active. Get a good tunnel SG and have it run out at the point where the speed is strongest, and froggy it like normal. If you execute everything flawlessly, you can get a 23 SL. Why is it that getting 10 Wumpa is useless here, and slower? Well, for a few reasons: for one, your speed is not increased, only the duration, and your fire level doesn't really have an impact on the speed of the mask (it does technically, but it's so insignificant). These things combined make it so that if you are waiting longer to use the mask, you're just losing time here. No matter what, you have to wait until the tunnel to get 10 wumpa, and if you use it in there, the mask runs out in a super awkward spot cuz of how long it lasts. The mask also makes the SG off the last hill a bit harder to get a good SG off of, because of your speed, although this isn't a huge deal. Either way, the speed buff for the last hill is not worth having mask for there, it doesn't make up for the time lost driving up to the tunnel with no mask. And so, with the fact fire levels don't differ in speed with mask, it makes lap 2/3 the absolute worst option, since those are the laps you're at the highest speed as it is, so you're not in a significant speed difference. If you do use the mask on the following lap, use it right when you cross the finish line, so that it lines up with the tunnel SG. Sure, you can get a 22 lap with this method, but the timesave there is significantly less than 23 on SL.
@@GalaxianSR Yes, indeed, I tested it a little, looked at the results of some speedrunners, and came to the conclusion that the option in this speedrun is more reliable. But at the level of logic (strategy with an improved mask), it seemed to me that this would be more effective, but not being a professional runner, I did not take into account some of the subtleties. But in general, I wrote a comment not entirely in the context of Coco Park. This speedrun, of course, is more entertaining, but nevertheless, it is indicative. ua-cam.com/video/uNXMBBpP2SM/v-deo.html In this situation, there was no urgent need for Hypno to force the use of the mask, the box with the vamp was just a stone's throw away, but he used the mask just before the box. From which we can conclude that he perhaps he didn’t know how the mask works. Perhaps he thought that the mask works by analogy with wampa fruits, when the increase in speed occurs gradually. I remembered this situation and decided to write about the nuance of the mask’s operation in order to close this gap in knowledge. But as already It turned out that the logic of decision-making regarding original speedruns is different here. And nevertheless, knowing about the intricacies of using a mask is a useful thing, and will not be superfluous for anyone. By the way, I simulated some possible situations with a mask and when we take 2 wumpa boxes in Coco Park. There is of course a slight advantage in that situation, but the improvement in time is so small that the risk is simply not worth it. By the way, on one lap (with an improved mask), I managed to squeeze out a time of 22:25. What were your results during the tests?
@@CTRClassicOnline I got a similar lap time with 10 wumpa, I don't remember what it was, exactly, I think like low 22.2x to .1x, so we're getting simialr results, which is a good indicator. If you can get a good lap 2 or 3 in general, 1 second of improvement is not really huge compared to 3, you have to be able to get 21 laps to make it worth using laps 2 or 3. PERHAPS if you're baller, you could do the SC at the end of lap 3 with mask speed, but it's hard to save time with it in general. It should be easier with a mask, tho.
