    I think it is a universal law that when you go to hook up the trailer you will either have a flat tire or the lights won't work

    • @MRSketch09
      @MRSketch09 4 роки тому +1

      As the old saying goes, "its the little things that will get you" in this case, the majority of trailer manufactures don't pay attention to the details
      of using good wire connections, etc.. & it bites the trailer owner in the ass a year down the line. Same with tires.
      So I've heard... repeatedly.

    My MacLander trailer has lights much like what you added. They protect the lights pretty well but the only problem is I can't count the number of times I've barked my shins on them.

  • @marshallmurrell4583
    @marshallmurrell4583 4 роки тому

    I would weld a metal triangle (gusset?) in front of each tail light housing. The longer you make the side against the trailer, the better deflecting ability it will have. Maybe some 3/8" or 1/2" plate?

  • @MRSketch09
    @MRSketch09 4 роки тому +1

    Hey this is merely a suggestion to your system, since you have that freaking HUGE tractor with forks on it..
    If you set up your stacks, & added 4x4 after so high.. then when you wanted to get a bundle, you could just
    come along & get a bundle with your tractor.
    As it stands your going to have to work as hard getting your boards as you did stacking them up...
    As a matter of fact you could just stack a bundle on the ground on top of 4x4, then go stack it with your tractor as
    well, it'd probably be easier than you "Trapezing" all over the wood like you did.

  • @invig2

    I thought you could of welded on a couple of lengths of round bar ahead of each light, before painting and while you had the gear set up. But I guess you didn't get the idea for the triangular guards until it was too late to get the extra metal.

    • @thehomesteadcraftsman8975
      @thehomesteadcraftsman8975  4 роки тому +2

      I guess you could but your lights are supposed to mark the full width of the trailer, that would leave out the tires. Also it would make the lights hang down and vulnerable if you drag the back of the trailer.

    • @cpoul
      @cpoul 4 роки тому +1

      @@thehomesteadcraftsman8975 I have a 4x8 cargo trailer and the factory lights are installed/inset in the box itself not extending out past the 4' width. Maybe for your type of trailer the regulations are different. I enjoy you videos. I've opened up a couple of cans of worms myself in my time.
