This video was supposed to be a before and after cleaning shop tour but turned into showing a messy shop and building two tables.......that's how things go for me. One of my income sources is building and selling farm style dining tables. I sell through a store as well as directly to customers. Both of these tables are store bound. I tried to give some tips and talk over a few details that normally get left out but also just let the video go, showing work without music or talking. Feel free to watch it all or skip around, it's a long one.
    Thanks for watching.

This was SO educational. I'm thinking that first top is going to look horrible with cherry and walnut together, and not even in even amounts or layout!!! But then you sold it in ten minutes. I'm stunned. The world is full of all kinds of people who like different types of things!!!!! Huge important lesson for someone trying to do this as a business.

    Nice 😏
That's a functional shop, stuff gets done 😁
The clean "stage" shops have the vibe of "you're cleaning more than you're building". Own it.

I built a small bench like that...short pieces glued, screwed, and biscuited together...came out beautiful. I was leary as, of course, people will be sitting on it all the time...so far, so good! Love your videos...found you looking for a farm table build years ago...now I watch all the channels!

One of the things really like about this guy..is he “rigs” things to make them work the same way I do...might not look great when being done...but if it works....do it! Such an impressive young man in all he can do! 👍🏻
And THE TABLE IS GORGEOUS!!!!! Love the different woods on there 👍🏻❤️👍🏻. Nailed it again! 🤣

I made one of your tables. It looks nice and gives me personal satisfaction that I milled and turned everything, Even cut the tree down. Made my own lumber and dried it in my solar kiln. Made the table base in just a few days. Only took me a couple years to get around to making the maple top. Same thing just a couple days to complete the top. Cant rush into these things . . . ha. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to make the project. Love your videos.

You are a man of many talents for sure. Reminds me of my father, he did wiring, plumbing, carpentry, made gun stocks, made replacement gun parts out of metal, made tools to work with (like a lift for sheet rock long before someone marketed it), worked on automobiles, felled trees, built homes and a log cabin, raised several gardens, was a constable, was in army air corps during WW11, made toys, and could mend a broken doll or someone's broken heart. You have that calmness about you like he did. I love your videos. God Bless YOU!

Nothing wrong with that table top! It looks like you put enough dominoes and dowels in it. It will hold!!
I've seen a similar to yours table top clamping jig, so I'm echoing a quick "walk through". I like the idea of this being vertical: saves space and I think it allows the weight of the wood to settle in, with clamping force, but not that much.
    Great work!! 👍

I was taught to clean up the employer's shop each night before I left. I did really good at keeping my shop like that most of the time. But, when I got busy, I'd take short cuts like sweep up and leave a few tools out :) As long as the busy days went on, more and more tools left out. Then as I got to the end of busy days and made the big push to finish everything, I could go days w/out even sweeping :( It became a mess.. That's when I did the full on , back to clean job :) Start new, breath, feel good about walking in , in the morning :) I'd like to think most ppl are like that :)
I love your tables and agree w/the idea of using random lengths & different woods to eliminate scraps :) Great idea.
Love the video and looking forward to part 2.

It's funny what you say about random selling patterns. It was even the same in the restaurant I worked at in high school and through college. We'd have nights where damn near EVERYONE ordered gyoza appetizer in one variation or another. Then other nights when it was everyone ordering some other dish. It was always very odd, unpredictable and uncanny. It's like everyone collectively gets in a mood and it gets contagious in some silent way. Table came out so beautifully though, doesnt surprise me it sold before you got back home!
