Do mostly hand work myself heh. There are polishing sanding sticks you can get at a hobby store or online that you can put a mirror finish on brass. Also work for final stages of stone too. One goes way past 10k grit. I am unsure what it is. Dremel or mini grinding wheel with jewelers rouge all the way through white works nice too.
I use to have more grit level but misplaced, def could have gotten even better with more time and energy. You can do alot with time, energy and determination. Thanks for the comment.
I feel like the main difference isn't so much the level of polish (which is more grit dependent) but the fact that the Cab machine will round the edges and dome the stone slightly, even if you're not working towards a Cabochon, while the Hand Polish method you used imitates a Flat Lap, leaving the face even and the corners sharp. I personally prefer the squared up look that you got from hand sanding for pieces like that.
Yeah I did a flat face just for time, and making the video. you can do the same with a normal rock it just hand stakes time. and I wish i would of had more grits of sand paper because we could have go a better result. But the result is the hand sanded stone def turned out really nice. Thanks
