Did you love iCarly? Then you’ll love this news - an iCarly reboot is in the works over at Paramount Plus, and features the original iCarly cast. However, there’s a major exception - it doesn’t seem like Jennette McCurdy (Sam Puckett) is set to feature in the reboot! The show was originally on Nickelodeon, and was created by Dan Schneider. Not only was it successful, but it sparked a spinoff - Sam and Cat, featuring Jennette and Ariana Grande. So it’s really surprising that McCurdy, who’s been in the Pet movie trailer and was also in Between, might not feature for the iCarly new season!
But before we get down in the dumps about Sam, let’s focus on the good news - the rest of the iCarly cast now is going to in the iCarly revival - that includes Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson), Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) and Noah Munck (as Gibby). But of course, no iCarly reboot could happen without #iCarly herself, Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove). She may have made her claim to fame via School of Rock and Drake and Josh, but since then, this actress has gone on to voice a character in Despicable Me, and is about to become famous once more as she reprises her role as Carly. @@hanindhira It's interesting that none of the Victorious cast has ever said anything bad. On the contrary, they all praise him and the Victorious experience. No one really suffered trauma, according to them. & they did a mini-reunion on zoom last April and they were all happy to be there.

If she did get paid more, it was probably because she was more famous at the time and that’s how Hollywood works. The more famous you are, the more attention and fans you bring to the show, so then you earn more. Besides, Jeannette was always hanging around Dan Schneider behind the scenes. If anyone was his favorite, it was Jeanette.

At the time Sam & Cat was airing, Ariana had one album under her belt and a new one about to drop and was collaborating with the likes of Mac Miller, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea... I’m sure her own team’s negotiations had something to do with the bigger salary, but I don’t think the Nick producers/execs would be hesitating all that much even if she and Jennette had equal billing.
In regards to Dan... honestly, I think Ariana, at that time, was his favorite. Pedophiles, especially in a position like his, have a tendency to fixate on and groom one person to be their “pet,” but will often get bored rather quickly and move on to someone else, or they will begin to hone in on their next victim if they’re in any way disappointed with their “star pupil.” Miranda Cosgrove was groomed to be the bigger star of iCarly, but when Jennette wound up being the scene stealer, she became his favorite. Victoria Justice was groomed to be the star of Victorious, Ariana wound up being the breakout star, so she became his favorite. He put his two favorites on one show, but as Ariana was getting more mainstream work outside of the network, she was his favorite. Dan was constantly pitting his underage actresses against one another for his own amusement and I think Jennette was sick of it, and I think there was an extra level of disgust once she realized what he was and what he had done to her, Amanda, Jamie, etc.

A LOT of his victims and child actors have quit acting altogether because their time with him was that traumatic. This happened with Jeanette McCurdy, Amanda Bynes, Alexa Nikola, Kristin Herrera, Jamie Lynn Spears, and more. I really cannot wait until all of this gets put into the light. There’s so much we know and so much we don’t know. I really hope that all of his victims are working on getting better and that they’re doing well. I also hope that this sick twisted thing gets what he deserves.
I thought Jamie Lynn Spears was because she got pregnant near the end of her show, and the drama surrounding her with who and how they didn't wanna feature a pregnant teen on nickelodeon ? I didn't know if there was ever more behind the scenes going on with that show nad the producers or not.
I’m pretty Jamie Lynn quit because she got pregnant. She’s back and has done a little acting (steel Magnolias on Netflix), but I think she’s mostly doing music now.

I would definitely say Ariana was the more famous one before Sam and Cat. Her character Cat was super popular and quotable. I kept seeing memes of Cat everywhere and I remember all the boys in my school having a crush on her. Her first album dropped the same year and I remember her music videos on UA-cam always bringing in a lot of views. Stars getting paid a different salary literally happens all the time in Hollywood. Usually when you’re the bigger star, you bring in more fans and attention to the show/movie, and you get more money.

Disagree I like Sam and she's plays her role So well, but she was Pretty mean and Disrespectful especially towards Freddie for pretty much no reason She's funny but she also has negative/toxic energy.
Not by far, Spencer(Jerry Trainer) was arguably the funniest character because he had serious comedy skills and could nail slapstick humor. Him and Jeanette (Sam) were the two most important characters in my opinion. If you really think about it, in most episodes, they are the foundation of the show. Spencer is usually responsible for the more lighthearted and hilarious B plot of each episode. Sam is responsible for most of the drama and comedy in the A plot because of her interesting backstory and brash nature (which is responsible for the physical humor of the show). Freddie and Carly are more serious and both act as the straight man when dealing with Sam or Spencer. That's why I think this reboot will fail. Without Sam, the comedy of the A plot is mostly gone. This means that the show will either have to heavily rely on Spencer for comedy or will more likely become more of a drama, which would honestly be very disappointing. They might even include LGBT themes/politics as major plot points considering that a big aspect highlighted about Carly's new BFF is that she is pansexual. Honestly if that ends up being the case that would ruin the show because it was never supposed to be a drama or focus on politics.

Despite all the unnecessary hardships/abuse the actors had to endure while filming iCarly, they somehow managed to do a fabulous job at capturing kids and parents love for the show over the six seasons it aired on Nickelodeon. I respect Janette's decision to not reprise her role as Sam. Her character will surely be missed, and I will fully support the other actors on the reboot. I hope they can do it justice...no, I know they can!

I can't blame Jeanette for not going back tbh I can't blame any of the stars that worked with Dan for not returning much like Alexa Nikolas refusing to even be involved with the Zoey 101 reboot, even if Dan isn't behind the show anymore they all had a lot of different painful memories with that creep and so did the stars from all his other shows I'm sure it left a bad taste in her mouth over the idea of I Carly as a whole and the fact that Dan will probably receive some royalty off the namesake too. I'm actually more surprised some of them agreed, but with a new writer I guess that makes a difference too. I'm just glad to hear it isn't over personal drama or anything in Jeanette's case and that they still get along so well though. Cause after hearing how not just Dan but the cast of Zoey 101 treated Alexa I refuse to even humor that reboot cause that's just really not ok.

Children that were thrown into acting at such a young age that most of them don’t remember their first time being on camera. Actors have to sign contracts, you know that right? So they can’t just quit and do whatever they want while in production.
So you have actual children that are being sexually exploited by this grown ass man that has literally said “if they give me an attitude or anything, I just laugh cause I write the scripts”
And then continued to make countless episodes of these shows where these girls put themselves in uncomfortable situations that they can’t say anything about cause it’s “for the show”
And anything behind closed doors they can’t talk about cause normal children find it hard to come out when they’re being prayed on, how hard do you think it is for a child celebrity who is probably worried no one will believe them and will just say they’re making it up for more fame, or even not being able to say anything just because you’re the star child who’s bringing in those $$ for your family and you’re scared saying something will make your family think you’re trying to take away their “good life”

Also it’s not that far of a reach from Icarly to Sam and Cat seeing as ICarly ended in 2011/2012 and then 2 seasons of Sam and Cat came out during 2013/2014 so like, she was still going to nickelodeon events and having to see Dan Schinder. There’s not much to do when you have to constantly see your abuser. Plus that’s not that much time to give yourself the chance to really understand what you’re going through, but the time between 2014 and 2020 and realizing, that guy is a disgusting creep that I don’t want to work with ever again

@yesn't non't all they wanted was to live their dreams doing acting. They can't just quit. Dan even got a girl blacklisted, which means she can't work in the Hollywood industry anymore. All she wanted was to be an actor. But her and her mom stood up to dan and wouldn't feed into his creepy foot fetish. He got mad and blakclisted the girl. Now she can't work in Hollywood. So no they can't just quit or they'll be blacklisted.

Just because Jennette isnt Signed up for the Main cast, dosent mean that she wont show up. We see it so often with spin off shows and spin offs, Sam May still come back for an Episode or two later on. Anythings better than nothing, But, i also understand if she chooses to turn down even a one episode reprise.

As a kid sam was my favorite person because all the other girls was too girly, but after realizing shed had personal struggles, i hope she can rest from those nightmares she had of acting. She will be missed
