Land Rover should make a razor. It would be awesome because it would leak oil and you wouldn’t need any shaving gel

The problem is, the head would snap off after a couple of days.😂

I remember my dad using a Valet Autostrop razor to shave. The strop hung on the wall close to the mirror ready for use when needed. I wish I had that razor now.

I recently got put on to the Japanese brand of razor blades, Feather. They are fantastic, and hold an edge for ages. I had to wait until I was nearly 70 to find them. I'll never but anything else now. Amazon.

PS. My first safety razor was an Australian Army issue Gillette that came in a tin. We used the tin as a pocket. ashtray . Everyone smoked back then.

I remember my dad had a Rimington and after a few shaves the blade had to be moved along,it was like a band saw but when you slid it along you couldn't slide it back

As a little girl,I use to watch my father shaving on a Sunday afternoon before Sunday meal. He used to very gently twist the brush on the soap with a bit of water. Then, putting all the white soap on his face. His rasor was a metal one and sometimes he would end up with some bit of toilet paper in his face. But most of the time he had lovely skin . Best time to kiss 😘 thank you for that funny and informative video.

My auld man used to sarcastically tell me "Just stand next to a door and shut it hard..."
    He favoured the blowtorch.

Have a Philip 3 head ...they were cheap in Curry's about 10 years ago. Use a mirror and grinding paste to sharpen the blades! 🙂🇻🇨

I'm flat out in reverse gear here. Bought a 60 year old Gillette butterfly and some of those Astra blades a few years ago and couldn't be happier and it's not just because I'm a cheap skate. I then not long after bought a Land Rover just to make sure if I did save some money then I wouldn't be hanging on to any of it

In my teens I started shaving with multi-blade cartridge razors. Always hated shaving, ingrown hairs and irritation, so only shaved when I had to.
About 4 years ago I decided to give traditional straight razors a go. I loved it. After a month or so of daily shaving, no skin damage, ingrowns or irritation. Just close, comfortable and enjoyable shaves. Setup costs about twice as much as a double edge razor setup but should last you a few generations.
I never had the courage to shave with a "safety" razor. You can't see the edge on your skin while shaving.
I now have a little over 30 straight razors 5 brushes and 8 soaps. Straight razor shaving in an addiction.

Great video, I used to use Mach 3 razors but found irritation after (once Twice a week) and blades expensive, went over to a Sheffield made Edwin jagger safety razor with feather blades, no more irritation, have tried other blades like derby and Wilkinson sword but found one rough and another went blunt very quick so stick to feathers. Funny how the older razors give a nicer shave compared to new stuff.

"Feather" brand in Japan. Top quality items, they make fantastic nail clippers.
    Very Interesting that chaps.
I like a good soak in a hot bath an get my chin under the water to soften the bristles, then straight out and shave. Works well.

I've been through the whole shaving gambit throughout my life . I've settled on the safety razors in the end, and the Proraso shaving creams and soaps . I've got one of my dads old shavers , and I have one I bought . Use Rockwell blades they sell 'em by the hundreds , so you get quite a lot of shaves out of that lot.
My dads old safety shaver is a Gillette with the adjustable blade collar underneath the shaving head which allows the blade to be in rout more from the shaver edge , I think there are more of his old shavers and brushes kicking about the old place ...I'll have to have a better look next time.
Cheers, Wild Bill Jeep overlanding the Boreal forest and Arctic watershed and Taiga of Northern Ontario and Northern Quebec .Trans Taiga baby !! Never stop exploring!!

If you push the el-cheapo shaver 10 times on a towel or strop you will get many more shaves out of it.

My spaniel has really long fur so I bought a Wahl dog clipper to keep him tidy.
First time I tried to use it on him, he made it very clear that I was going to lose body parts if I went near him with it.
I didn't want it to go to waste so, erm, that's what I've used for shaving for the last 10 years.

I bought a Wahl trimmer which lasted ten years . $250 Australian for 500 haircuts and beard trims. Replaced it last year for $200. Same model, still made in Germany. Cordless so all hair cutting occurs outside.

I have very fast growing facial hair that has the properties of steel. I have to shave everyday. After two days not shaving it becomes a significant task. The Braun shaver you showed is the only electric razor that can cope with my stubble and I’ve tried many. The motor bogs down when it gets to a specially thick bit but does manage to get through. I certainly hear you about the worn out foil… disposable razors are totally useless. They are blunt by the time I’m halfway through a shave and the second half of my face gets scratched and torn. Feels horrible. I tried a straight razor and had the same problem but also suffered numerous nicks due to cackhanded use. I might give a safety razor a go as the economics could be reasonable. With two edges I might even manage a full shave with a single blade.
I only wish the hair on my head was as stubborn as my chin.

Someone usually buys me blades at Christmas. I didn't start shaving til my 20s and the most embarrassing thing as a teenager was my aunt buying me razors at 18... I should have bought her tampons 🤗 but i was a shy lad then. Remember lifebouy soap? The smell of it and it was hard as a rock😏👍🇮🇪
