    That line - "The crew disappointed me". What did you want the pilot to do; land overweight and damage the plane? Your fault entirely. You cannot spring a new schedule on a crew and plane halfway through an already-planned flight. Duane needs to come down off his pedestal a little and start learning the limitations of aircraft. Then, he might begin to understand how to get the best out of the aircraft. THEN, he needs to get some serious people-management training which doesn't include mimicing Circus-Joe's style. Only then, maybe, he can get somewhere with it all.

      I had a Transport Manager like Duane who failed to understand the Limitations of Trucks & Drivers, He was an idiot who was only good enough to drive an Office Chair.

    Kudos to the staff and pilots who tolerate current management and keep showing up to work in extreme conditions. The company needs a team builder not self-centered, insensitive tyrants.

    Duane behaves like a dolt...fails to include staff and crews in planning then complains about bad results. The only impression he's making is opposite of what he's hoping for. The solo ego-driven culture at Buffalo is rotten and dysfunctional and everyone knows where that originates....

    some of the stuff Duane says makes sense and there is always gonna be friction between management and staff, its in the nature of the jobs. But how he is portrayed handeling things here is exactly what will make good people quit.

    I don't doubt there's manufactured drama, this being a tv show, but dwayne's comments are not unlike what I've heard in several jobs. I haven't had the luck to work on airplanes but I have worked in service departments of dealerships and on some construction/industrial equipment, and management had similar gripes with the mechanic teams. The thing is, if you don't know how these machines operate, you can't pass judgement on the crews on how they go about it. These are old aircraft and extreme conditions, rushing to get contracts done is dangerous.

    Quote from: Aviation Investigation Report A13W0120
    Engine failure after takeoff and collision with terrain
    Buffalo Airways Ltd.
    Douglas DC-3C, C-GWIR
    Yellowknife Airport, Northwest Territories
    19 August 2013
    There were other indications that the organizational culture at Buffalo Airways was not supportive of a system that required the organization to take a proactive role in identifying hazards and reducing risks. The company's response to deficiencies identified during TC surveillance activities demonstrated an adversarial relationship between the company and the regulator. The company refuted the regulatory basis of findings, questioned the competence of TC inspectors, and initially did not take responsibility for the issues identified. The overall picture that emerged from this investigation is of an organization that met the basic requirements of regulations and then only when pushed by the regulator. An SMS introduced into a culture motivated merely to comply with regulations is unlikely to be effective. The operator's SMS was ineffective at identifying and correcting unsafe operating practices.

    I think that training exercise is the one during which First Air 6560 crashed (2011 Operation Nanook). The exercise was in August 2011.

    • @xthemwordx
      @xthemwordx Рік тому

      Yep, it is. Operation Nanook is the annual sovereignty operation (sovereignty patrols) and maneuver warfare exercise. When you think about it, Buffalo's deliveries to the Canadian forces helped make sure the 3 survivors of the crash survived.

    Typical pen pushers never think outside the square for the "if that happens scenario". Only himself to blame and shows a lack of skills in management of time, man hours and equipment allocations. Certain rules need to be followed not ignored just to make a deadline that has no leeway built in.
