a fish I had never heard of before. Will have to keep in mind for a possible addition to my 53 gallon when I have the capacity (it's a community tank of mostly tetras and a few gouramis. But it's at about 30 fish right now)
I’ve just recently bought 8 of these colourful and fascinating little fish, I’m looking to add more before the end of the year, they’re certainly a welcome addition to my community tank. 👍🏴
Great information Mr. Sarac and thankfully I decided to give these little guy's a shot when I got back to the hobby. I know now why they were consistently recommended and since I have been caring for them & they are not hard @ all as long as the basics of freshwater are involved! The behavior reminds me of a little bit of a troublemaker that is always kept in check but yeah , pranksters I have been able to watch them for years now and they have been adding more and more so I have a feeling that the original 8 have reached triple digits and they will be in my aquariums for years and hopefully more like decades. I have experienced a few of the sudden signs that have lead to a sad final moments and the heavy breathing was always the indication that something is wrong or the other sign I would say was almost like the one fish would never let another out of sight to me it was easily the weirdest of behavior that @ the time I had witnessed. Seriously I was not nor still not sure what to make of it but I definitely decided to make some little changes in hopes that I can prevent the future cases of madness and the gut feeling that I have lead to stop feeding frozen blood worms and since I have not had 1 pass on going on 3 + years. Bloat and dropsy were very likely the case for the erratic behavior and I am sure done feeding them IMO a fish killing food
Hi there! It's normal for the water to be cloudy for a little while after adding soil substrate like Stratum. Your filter should clear up the cloudiness soon! You can do a water change to help, but don't disturb the soil when you do it!
Love my dwarves, they do so well with other fish as well. I have other rainbows as well. As you mentioned with planted tanks, my Australian love to eat certain types of plants, regardless if you are supplementing Spirulina and other high-quality foods.
I think these should only be kept with much larger fish. I have 5 females and 3 males, I added the females because the males kept chasing and nipping everything else. They have killed a couple of my Galaxy rasbora and the rest are just hiding. I thought adding females would distract the males from the other fish. I don't think they're aggressive necessarily but they're extremely boisterous
yes, in all my research done before getting them and since getting them 20 (standard or long not tall) has always been the minimum tank size this has been the only source i have found that says 30 is the minimum, i have 7 in a 20g riparium and they are thriving but i will say they are alone and will be kept alone as long as they are in that tank, my city tap water is perfect for their living conditions and i went easy on the hardscape and heavy on the background plants to give them lots of swimming room and have been in there for 2 months, you can also go without a lid if you have lots of plant cover (floating or riparian)
I disagree that you need 8 or 10 of them. 8 dwarf neon rainbows is too many for a 29 gallon. You don't need to keep schooling fish in a school for them to thrive and live long lives. They'll get on perfectly fine alone or with a couple of buddies in a community tank. Overstocking your tank will cause much more discomfort for your fish.
Just got 12 of these for my 55g. ...absolutely love them
We hope you enjoy your new fish! 😊
Neon rainbow fish develop beautiful colouration quite young. Females have good colour too. Lovely rainbow fish
Great work Team Fluval, now we're talking about a fish I could really get into! 😎
nice to see you here
Thanks Bentley! 😊

Just added three of these to my fluval flex 15, along with 6 neon tetras. Lets see how they gel together.
Gorgeous fish, I have a good sized group of them in my 125 and they’re growing like weeds. The males are so pretty when they spar

Thanks, Merry Christmas!! 👍🏻😁

I kept a group of Praecox and discovered them fin nipping my veiltail angelfish. Just an FYI to anyone thinking of pairing these species together.
Fluval please help. I added the fluval planting soil and my water is staying cloudy. Should I do a water change ?

Hi I need an advice, can they cope 18 or 19 degrees water temperature? I did have them before for some months
Hi there! That water temperature is too cold for Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish - they'll likely become lethargic and susceptible to disease.
Chili rasbora is a good tank mate for them?
They should be okay together, but keep an eye on them to make sure the Rasboras are eating properly!

Are the cherry shrimp safe?
Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish will hunt Cherry Shrimp if they have the opportunity!
Strong current as he says when it show the fish in a tank with pretty much slack water lol

Can dwarf rainbow fish can handle a 20 gallon
As Tom mentions in the video, 30 gallons is the minimum recommended tank size for Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish!

My tip: you start at least 6 of them.

Nah, if you don't have the space for a school, don't get a school.
Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself of something that you know isn’t quite right. Eight in a 29 is fine for the dwarves.
