- Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron discusses the movie Spotlight.. Here's an excerpt:
C-SPAN: And when you watch the movie, how much of it represented what you think is the -- exactly the way you did it?
BARON: I think the movie's quite faithful to the broad outline of how the investigation unfolded. I think it's important to keep in mind that it's a movie. It's not a documentary, so -- and you had to compress within two hours a seven-month-plus investigation, including things that happen afterwards.
And you had to introduce a lot of characters, and you had to introduce the important themes that emerged over the course of that investigation. So I -- I'm very pleased with how the movie portrays what happened.

It's amazing how well Liev Schreiber managed to replicate the timbre and tone of Marty Baron's voice.
Spotlight was a stupendous movie.
Those outrageous quotes from Catholic educated Mary Anne Glendon, America’s ambassador to the Vatican at that time, reveal the stupendous hypocrisy of the completely reprobate Roman Catholic Church.
Marty Baron is the man.
He really is. In the dictionary under integrity they should have his picture.
@@user-xm6ro1ep5d No, he stopped thousands of pedos.
Lucy Foster He sure did, just threw me off with that comment
I assume in the year since you posted this you have managed to inform yourself. Amazing that you weren't informed when you posted it.
Wow, liev got his mannerisms and speech beautifully.
That’s really shameful that a Harvard Law professor (Maryann Glendon, is it?) would make such an ignorant comment on the matter.
Disgusting isn't it? I had trouble catching her name too. I thought Mary Ann Glen it, I searched it and found nothing.
Yes it is Glendon
@@paulwhite4804 Mary Ann Glendon was appointed by Trump to oversee an anti-gay agenda in his human rights commission. Glendon serves on the board of various right wing institutions like Becket (formerly known as the Becket Fund) which takes on anti-LGBTQ litigation, the publication First Things, and Catholic University’s Institute for Human Ecology, which promotes LGBTQ-negative “human rights” education.
@Aristotle2000 During the 1960 presidential election, the first in which Glendon could vote, she cast her ballot for John F. Kennedy. For most of her early life she was a Democrat.
Thank You for posting this historical video. It needs to be posted/distributed more because of the immense,
irreparable harm the Church has caused innumerable children and vulnerable adults. If not for the heroic courage
of Marty Baron and the Spotlight team in going after Cardinal Law and the system, the world would never have known.
There would've been far more victims, many of whom have taken their lives. The abuse is severe in itself. The cover up
obstructed justice and made it worse, which is what allowed for more children and vulnerable adults to be violated.
This being the 20th anniversary year, it's still business as usual. State attorney generals are forced to clean God's House
because the Church still refuses to. Over 900 priests were left off diocesan lists in Pennsylvania alone. The Spotlight needs to
be on the Church despite the deranged bias, until records are opened and predator priests are removed and their bishops held
accountable. Pope Francis himself, refuses to open his records in Argentina. He slandered survivors, accusing them of slander.
He apologized, but the deranged bias and misinformation of it only being a few bad priests goes on.
The UN rightly ruled that the Church is to blame as it sets policy for the dioceses. It's true, "All roads lead to Rome."
Jesus clearly warned against harming anyone, especially children, and covering crimes up.
Admirable man, genius acting
