- Phil Saviano's abuse nightmare began before his 12th birthday (left, Saviano today at right). Father David Holley (inset above), a priest in his mid-30s with an impish sense of humor, was appointed to his church in Douglas, Mass.
The priest took an interest in young Phil — but it was only to groom him as a victim. Believing he was dying of AIDS years later, Saviano decided to forgo a five figure payout from the Catholic Church that would have forced him to keep silent. Saviano, now 63, provided the evidence to The Boston Globe, contributing to the Pulitzer Prize-winning series now the subject of the movie Spotlight, starring Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo.

The actor that played him nailed it perfectly as did the entire cast. They literally became the people they were playing
He says that he would not have come forward if he was not diagnosed with AIDS. An incredibly debilitating disease gave him "courage" and "feel free" to push to get this all to light. That is an incredible sad, and brave viewpoint he came to. RIP Mr. Saviano.
What a brave man.
Heartbreaking.
Brave man. RIP
Godbless this brave man
