There's more to getting a good midi output than a good #soundfont file. I'm going to give you tips and tricks on how I take a #midi file that already has decent sounds, and show you how to turn it into an ultra realistic performance. The goal is to demonstrate to you that realism goes beyond good instrument sounds and reverb.
Recording music shouldn't be this difficult
I also show you why it is so difficult to get good playback results by showing you a typical workflow in a #musicnotation software. You will see how the workflow is complicated, and for most people, not worth the trouble. This is the reason why our MIDI playback usually sounds so bland. Music Jotter aims to fix these problems.

    Thank you composers of YC!
Thank you to Zach for being a good sport in letting me critique and nuance his work for this demonstration. And a big thanks to Mossy84 for letting me use his work as my video's conclusion.

That’s a great transformation of an originally good recording!

Thanks! It's important to understand that these techniques that I've acquired over the years will be made possible to implement in Music Jotter "easily" through various methods. The easiest method would be using a "Realistic Playback" module that Music Jotter will have. In this module, the user can randomize various attributes to the "whole score" or to "parts of the score". And there will be other ways to assist the composer with realism such as "easy ways to copy over templates of dynamics, velocity changes and tempo changes".
So while the tricks in this video are important for realism, the thing that is more important is "implementation". Can the software handle this "easily"? And this is a big reason why I took on Music Jotter.
The composition is also beautiful, so that helps make my points stronger too! Thanks Zach!

It's nice! But sometimes the roll feels odd with the music (like the opening sf)

That was due to my personal taste in realism, however Music Jotter will offer "degrees" of roll. I opted for a larger degree for demonstration purposes. The program also can nuance either the entire score, or just parts of a score. And if you aren't happy with a specific part, you can lower the "levels of chord roll".
