  • Are you confused on how to get started with composition? Well, there's no better way to learn than by watching someone else compose, ON THE SPOT. So I took on the nerve-racking challenge of composing 2 short pieces for you on camera (a short jingle, and a baroque style invention). Then I critique the process. Why do I do this to myself?
Oh, here's why. I want to show you a new composition method made possible with Music Jotter! Since I just finished the playback implementation, I can now show you this very simple, yet effective technique!

Thank you. This has been something I wanted since I was 14 lol. Clearly, it never would get done without my intervention, so here we are!

It's easy. Just add notes and see what happens :P This video basically is me doing just that lol. I had no idea what I was going to compose while screen recording. The process will let you hear all the harmonies and melodies at "any point" in the score, which is what makes this playback so powerful.

I like that you can just put new notes on existing notes. In Sibelius you can only do that in one take, otherwise the old note will be replaced by the new one!
The instant playback is so useful! It definitely will save a lot of time on the playback.

Music Jotter basically let's the composer do "unison". It wasn't always like that, but decided to code it in that way after some thought. And the playback is going to be really fun. Just wait until I code in "realistic playback". The intro piece composed by Quinn made use of "realistic playback" so you can get an idea of what it may sound like (recorded from my prototype). I love hearing transformations from standard midi into something much more realistic!

This style of video seems incredibly useful for beginning composers. You explaining your process helps aspiring composers with some things to think about as they write, rather than the default "idea after idea" style many beginners use.
I learned a bit about the shortcuts and whatnot with this video, I'm excited to continue testing it out as it evolves. :)

Thank you Vince! Yes this style of video is aimed for beginners, however it also will show people a new way to write music. Even for pros like you :-)

The responsive and harmony playback is really useful.
I just hate these clickbait thumbnails like "Mind Blowing Technique". You might have stole a view, but you've lost a like and sub.

Ok, the phrase in question is "Mind Blowing Technique" because I am changing the thumbnail (so others don't get confused by this comment).
I will point out that technique is made possible with my technology, and to my knowledge no software on the market will allow for this style of composition. But if the thumbnail deters people from enjoying the video, it defeats the purpose of the work and effort I put into this channel and technology, so I am listening!
I just changed the thumbnail title to "New Technique Revealed!" I may change the title again while I observe how people react to the change. But let me know if this is better for you. Thank you for your feedback.

So true to your name your just a fish thats sad he got caught by the lure? :((( poor fishy. What a contradiction, this "is really useful", and "You might have stole a view, but you've lost a like and sub." Maybe have some subtlety or ability to discern, which is clearly revealed in musicjotters response below, to see that this is not just someone looking to be "click bait" but someone who is on their own trying to develop and contribute something for people. After his response and actually changing the thumbnail i would be on my knees in a comment replying how I over reacted and didnt think he would be so responsive and its not what I made it out in my head to be and that he earned my like and sub! You not only throw the baby out with the bath water but step on it, shameful.
