  • Owners Abdul Elenani and Ayat Masoud opened their restaurant Ayat serving up hearty Palestinian dishes that are large enough to feed a family. Ayat, who grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, always dreamed of introducing her community to the traditional Palestinian dishes she ate within her home. While Middle Eastern street food flavors - such as shawarma, kebabs, falafel, and hummus - are popular in their neighborhood, some of the more traditional Palestinian and regional recipes she loves are less well known. The nostalgic recipes, which she learned from her mom, include dishes like mansaf - made with lamb that is cooked in a fermented yogurt and served over saj bread and rice and garnished with almonds and parsley.

      It doesn't sound like something that could be done on an industralised scale either, so it'll probably be higher quality meat.

    • @HassanAli-rb5hq
      @HassanAli-rb5hq 2 роки тому +23

      Halal meat is basically predicated on mercy- to reduce the animals suffering. The knife has to be sharp and cut very quickly. The animal can't even see the knife or the blood of other animals before its death, bc it'll get scared and then its not halal. An animal that is too young, sick is not halal. If someone like today in the factories, abuses an animal that animal is not considered halal. The animal must be treated well during its life. The reason you say Allah's name is bc, it's like taking permission from him to kill this animal, bc it's for the purpose of consumption.
      This is a good video that explains it better.
      m.ua-cam.com/video/Nc6VpMPsDmk/v-deo.html
      That's why I don't think halal can ever be industrialised. Bc the conditions alone will render it haram.

    I watch this series every single week. I love that your exploring the different cultures in new york. Showing how much diversity and life there is. Taking it back to the real soul food of the community. The street vendors and food trucks or even outright restaurants. Food made with love, with passion. These guys shape our local communities and are vital in feeding us so its awesome to give them exposure. These places are where you'll get some of the best tasting food around. You can tell the real genuineness of the people who do this and its great. I honestly wish them nothing but the upmost success. God bless. 🤝💯

    Heart warming and delicious! That is my two word take on it. What awesome people, passion, process and product. Keep up the good work and I hope to bring my family to your restaurant soon to enjoy the cuisine and atmosphere.
