This is the same issue in alot of Arabic countries. we here in Iraq, we see black people (we have many black people) but they aren't discriminated or hated. the older folks, our parents just mimic them and say they're overcooked in the womb and that they should use whitening creams 🤦♀ we have a culture here where the paler you are the more beautiful. since the sun is very strong and majority of people get easily tanned so even I have a white skin if I spend a couple hours in the sun I'm tanned, even very tanned people gets the same treatment. but they can work alongside the rest, get jobs, same payment, they can sit beside people in the bus and nobody gives them looks. the only downside is that whiter skinned folks rarely marry a black person. their parents would object saying the kids would come out looking extra burnt and that they were in the womb for 12 months 💀
