If hardness increases, brittleness also increases and if you put a pointy focrce on that it will definitely break. That's why companies don't put a hardness level more that 5 or 6 for their screen protectors.

Hardness is directly proportional to brittleness. The harder the glass , the more brittle it is. It will provide great scratch protection but will be more brittle. Compare that to the plastic screens of foldable mobiles, they get scratched easily even with nails, but are flexible(not too brittle).
