After watching Jay's weekly videos for years, this is still the #1 video that sticks in my mind. It's not some random resto-mod, not some corporate shill talking about their new vehicle, nor is it a celeb bringing their umpteenth vehicle to show off. It is a regular, insanely passionate guy who built a replica of an impossibly expensive car using the closest accurate parts. The best part is, (IMO), it's not some show pony or some museum piece. It's meant to be loved, raced and experienced by all and many. Top tier stuff.
Italian pride baby. Most passionate people on earth, whether it's about food, love, cars, or all three, we put our heart and soul into everything. This owner is a great example of having love and pride for your dreams and chasing them at all costs. Amazing guy and incredible car.

@@DjDolHaus86 Yup just like an old road ranger in a truck. Ive never driven a car with a gate, or anything non synchro tran 4 spd's. Driven lots of trucks, even 3 stick macks.

Just stunning. No paint. Hand beaten aluminium. The owner is great. The story is fantastic. Jay is super and humble. Just one of the best episodes. Kudos all round.
This has been one of my favorites. Sometimes these videos remind me of how I felt about cars when I was a kid. Side note, if it was a Porsche they would probably give this guy an honorary chassis number. Come on Ferrari, I think we all would like you to!
Freaking awesome, thank you Jay for bringing this to the masses. The rawness of the car and passion of the owner are so incredible. I love that he uses it. That rough finish on the body is soooo cool!
The down votes must be from real 250 TR owners that are upset with this car for existing. Because I can't see any other reason why someone would dislike this.
Cars like this, in my mind, are more than just vehicles, they gatter the spirit, of the machine, not only the pation of the creator, but the energy of all the history behind it. The failure of the bodyworker, the resignation and the hanging of the bodywork, that time the builder saw the shell, that week he couldnt sleed and had to return and purchase the shell, the handbuilding, the finaly get to a racetrack, the crash, and the second reborn, this car have that legend aura, that somecars or some particular models have. Realy liked this one too, thanks Jay :D
I met a guy in the mid-1980s who was driving a real 250 TR around Scottsdale. Said he paid $60,000 for it and his wife was on the verge of divorcing him for buying it. I hope she stuck around!
I remember seeing a car back in the 90's in the Du-Pont for about the same price. Some old 60's Ferrari. I remember it looked rather sexy for a 60's car. Then about 15 years later I saw it again for sale for $600,000. Then another 8-10 years later, I watched it set records on Auction. The car.... I think it was a Ferrari P2.
Dreams come true with a little work..........................incredible, this mans passion. Jay doesn't interview just anyone..............and this video is clearly one he is picking a part............ to his guests delight!!!
Absolutely amazing, well done Peter. I grew up around these old Ferrari’s and they have always been my passion. My dad took templates from an original 250 GTO back in the 80’s that I still have today. One day I would love to build a tribute car just like this. It was always dads dream and sadly he never was able to do it before he passed away. Thanks for the inspiration sir.
Saw a Jay Leno interview on 60 Minutes or one of those news magazine shows. After the interview at the desk 'wrap-up' the interviewer said he kinda worried about Jay's life after the Tonight Show thinking that Jay couldn't be happy with 'just his cars'.. LOL MY understand is that the 'Show business' deal was just tolerated so the cars could be afforded. great channel. Thanks for sharing Jay!
@@Marauder252 Correct: it's well known around L.A. that Leno never spent a dime of his NBC money. He saved it all. His lifestyle was paid for by his standup money.
I've heard him in interviews that he never even looked at a check and couldn't remember what he was paid. He is a standup 1st and thats how he makes his living. He's one of a dying breed. Also working clean not having to talk about sex or his bathroom habits or using the f word every other line
This is why Jay Leno's Garage is the best thing on "TV". Every car, every show, every proud owner - they are all special but this car and this owner really stand out. You can see it in his eyes, hear it in every word - he knows this car inside and out and he loves it. This guy didn't just throw some cash out there and become a car collector. No, he earned it. Bravo signore. I had better go before my wife catches me tearing up.
I am very happy to see his Testarossa repaired after the accident. Incredible man is Peter for sure. CONGRATS! Hope to see it racing in person someday.
Watch Jay light up, as he's encouraged being il piloti...priceless. The results here are astonishingly practical as far as any TR is concerned. This is actually able to be driven! Bravo.
So admire the dedication of this guy, not just to build it once, but to essentially build it twice. Great image too of Jay with his hair blown back in this one, like a gentleman Ferrari racer from the fifties.

This is one of the best Leno's Garage stories ever. Shocking that he could build this and carry it off so well. Very impressive! I would loved to have been in traffic and see it pass by. So glad it gets exercised!
Some of the camera work in this was wonderful! The left side of J's head in that left turn at 13:17 was the best. That with some of the other shots were like classic car chase scenes.
Car people are so easy to tell when you see a real one. Jay, obviously, and the owner is obviously as well to have built it had it in an accident and fixed the old girl. True love. Most telling though was he literally never stopped smiling the whole ride and even got jazzed about Jay’s shifting skills while being a passenger for the first time in his baby. Made me very happy to see him enjoy his work being enjoyed. Awesome!!!!
Jay, I absolutely love your show. You feature the greatest cars and most interesting guests, and it's such an entertaining and instructive program. Some of my favorite episodes are those with guests like Mr. Giacobbi, who have such passion as to hand-build faithful replicas of timeless classic cars like this Ferrari tribute. His attention to detail and his love of the automobile really reach my emotions, and in your interactions with him, like with your other guests, your own passion for the craft comes through so beautifully. I've always enjoyed your work as a comic and talk show host, but I really think that Jay Leno's Garage represents the best work of your career. Thank you and your crew for such a wonderful production.
Thank you, Jay, for this story. The enthusiasm of Mr. Giacobbi brought a smile to my face. Hearing your heartfelt words brought it all back home. Those of us who have experienced driving machines such as this are far and few between and getting fewer.
Absolutely Mel, you got that so right! I saw Peter Giacobbi show his creation on Petrolious a while back and then he arrives on Jay's show. I have so much admiration for Mr. Giacobbi's skills but maybe more for his determination. Can you imagine the feeling after it was smashed in that accident... then he just dug into it once more and repaired it! That is truly unique. What a true artisan... amazing.

Man, I absolutely love that car. I see the money that people spend on custom show cars all the time. Personally, I'd rather commission a shop to build a body like this, then go from there. The Ferrari's from this era are some of the most beautiful cars in the world.
What a sound! Amazing!
This guy is a hero. I think it’s more impressive than the original.
Well said
I'm so pumped up and breathless. I'm 73. Thank you Peter Giacobbi for what you've done, AND the ride! Bill, Canada
Great car, guy, and story, Jay the show gets better every week, I hate Sunday, but not so much when I get the alert, Jay Lenos Garage
how can anyone hate sundays
I just love Jay Leno, he is a great historian. Not only has he preserved much of automotive history he has preserved many interviews of famous people as a talk show host. I have been a car nut for 60 years, having said that I just can’t get excited about the ice engine anymore. I now drive a Tesla Model 3 and can’t imagine a more perfect car.
shepherdsknoll8 really, I hear lots of complaints about the Tesla 3.
Mick Funny , I’ve owned mine now for 12 months and 24,000 miles. We have taken it on two 3500 mile trips, driven it at 120mph on the plains of Wyoming. I love the whirl of the electric motor and the way it throws you back in the seat. Every day I am astonished at this car. It is truly an experience of driving the future.
@@shepherdsknoll8 -gday SS8- I hear ya - recently drove a Tesla X and njoy'd th tech and the E driveline, but, l found the comfort level not quite as good as my Cit. Still, l look forward to getting a model 3 wen they're released here. And looking at the upcoming roadster, l look forward to seeing one in the flesh as many, if not all photos, or videos, don't do justice to the actual item. Cheers mate.
Peter is such a great man, super fast driver on the track, yet a humble man with great substance. Always helpful. His black Alfa was just a rocket...blew me away every time.
Jay seemed to like this guy which is kinda rare
This man is so inspiring… his passion for this car is palpable he really deserve this piece of art! And that v12 sound makes me shiver!
18:42 minute video...seemed like 2 minutes. Loved it!
Nathan Rohrbough I had to double check the time seeing that comment lol, swore it was only 10
After watching Jay's weekly videos for years, this is still the #1 video that sticks in my mind.
I’ve never seen an episode where Jay was so quiet. That speaks for itself
I've never seen an owner so happy to sit in the passenger seat.😎
Italian pride baby. Most passionate people on earth, whether it's about food, love, cars, or all three, we put our heart and soul into everything. This owner is a great example of having love and pride for your dreams and chasing them at all costs. Amazing guy and incredible car.
Lovely man smiling whilst your crunching the gears🤣
those sounds are normal for those cars, the gearbox is built to be abused for a 24 hour race so its loud like a straight cut gearbox today
@@apache1234657 you had better mean it when you shift those.
Takes a while to get to know a particular engine and non-syncro transmission, you'll always get a bit of crunching until you know exactly where the revs and road speed match
@@DjDolHaus86 Yup just like an old road ranger in a truck. Ive never driven a car with a gate, or anything non synchro tran 4 spd's. Driven lots of trucks, even 3 stick macks.
To Jay's defense, he has never driven this car before. And those old boxes were quite difficult to learn. Double clutching is quite something to do properly.
The sound of that motor.... W O W.
Music. Can you imagine it being driven by Hill or other drivers mastering it on a circuit ? Pure bliss !
The down votes must be from real 250 TR owners that are upset with this car for existing. Because I can't see any other reason why someone would dislike this.
The reason is because they have Fiat parts...😆😆
@@mariuspetre1613 lol. He mantioned in other video to a guy who has 350 😃
Cars like this, in my mind, are more than just vehicles, they gatter the spirit, of the machine, not only the pation of the creator, but the energy of all the history behind it.
Absolutely love everything about this episode thanks to everyone who had a hand in making it. Truly a rolling piece of art work.❤️
I met a guy in the mid-1980s who was driving a real 250 TR around Scottsdale. Said he paid $60,000 for it and his wife was on the verge of divorcing him for buying it. I hope she stuck around!
@MichaelKingsfordGray bcuz it is a 50 million dollar car or so now
@@mrhappy8966 lol. And thats why the fellow would hope she was no longer around.
@@rahowherox1177 lmao hed be better off forsure
Wow... need to go china and make a plastic body like this style...
Has anyone else ever seen Jay concentrate so much while driving a car. I mean no talking at all, purely in the moment. Awesome !
That engine makes the mona lisa of engine sound.

WOW

Your dad sounds real cool.
This is bar none the best video of Jay Leno's Garage! So awesome watching these two talk about a car with so much passion.
Jay never use the money he made from the Tonight Show, he only use the money he made from doing stand up.
Look at the smile on that mans face. This is what cars are really supposed to do. Thankyou for sharing your joy Peter.
One of the best parts of my Sundays... Thank you Jay & team!
Respect! This 'Tribute' 250 TR...is SO BEAUTIFUL!!..Thank you Peter For 'building 'HER'!! cheers from Canada!
I usually prefer seeing Jay's cars, but this is totally cool
Jay has a lot of cars, but not that many. It's good to see other things too, but I know what you mean. Perhaps it's time for another installment of "Projects Update and what's laying around the garage".
Never has Jay said so much by saying so little. Awesome!
This... is my favorite car channel.. and that magnificent machine had Jay absolutely mesmerized and speechless when driving it.. what an awesome video this week...
rad on so many badass levels of awesome !
Thats badass
Give it 5/5 ichiban moto stickers
@@w.obently1218 I should send Jay some stickers to pass out to his guests
I bet Jay would love to ride one of your custom bikes.

Love this show. Definitely my favorite UA-cam channel. Jay seems like a pretty cool down to earth guy for being a millionaire many times over. Keep em coming Jay!!!
I love to hear Jay talk about his parents . Totally non pretentious.
This is one of the best Leno's Garage stories ever. Shocking that he could build this and carry it off so well. Very impressive! I would loved to have been in traffic and see it pass by. So glad it gets exercised!
Lovely chap and an awesome car!
Some of the camera work in this was wonderful! The left side of J's head in that left turn at 13:17 was the best. That with some of the other shots were like classic car chase scenes.
This is a good man with a good story. Thanks guys! Beautiful car.
This is probably my favorite Jay Leno's Garage video. He is so passionate about the car and knows it so intimately that it makes this one very special
Magnifico! Viva Ferrari y Leno!
Thank you, Jay, for this story. The enthusiasm of Mr. Giacobbi brought a smile to my face. Hearing your heartfelt words brought it all back home. Those of us who have experienced driving machines such as this are far and few between and getting fewer.
Jay is the man.
That has to be the quietest I have ever seen Leno on a test drive. This car requires all your attention all the time , Wonderful !
Grazie, bellissimo video. Ciao dall’Italia!
Sorry I don't speak russian

It's Yugoslavian.
I wanted this episode to go on forever. And for Peter, I hope it does.
beyond passion , amazing work !!
build by hand with heart . priceless
What a true artisan... amazing.
Oh man... so much respect for the owner, builder and racer. So cool.
Wow!! Thanks both, for Sharing this with us!! Cheers!!
I don't think I've even seen Jay so speechless. Plus his hair looks great at the end of the ride. What a great car. Jay your my hero.
Wow that sound of the engine has to be the blueprint of the perfect engine sound. I'd love to hear one in real life
Love that man. Knowledge. .history...honor.
Drive that beautiful car.
I think is the first time....Jay didnt speak at all when he was driving....he probably enjoy the driving sooooo much!!!!!!!!!
Just the sound of the engine and minimal talking made it better somehow, two guys with a mutual respect enjoyment of the experience.
And being very careful I'm sure, I mean the guy did say that jay would just about be the only person he would ever let drive it
Oh man, how I love this car. What an absolutely rough beauty ... and that sound ... magnificent.
I have the same car in red... in 1/12th scale.
What a genuine guy , that sir is pure class !!!
What an excellent tribute - boy am I jealous !!
Ferrari copy still worth $1-2m
I love this guy. "I scratch out the do not on the do not touch sign." He wants everyone to feel his passion.
Not a hair out of place after doing 80mph. Now that's good hair gel.
Its good aerodynamics. I had a mk1 golf gti with no roof, could drive it at 200kph with a straw hat on.

that was no gel... they used Acrylic Lacquer Spray!
@iTheGeek yep, and most fords, chevy and chrysler v8 cars of the era. In performance, that is... which, unless you have fragile ego, was all that counted.
Best guest by far. So humble and polite, loved the bit about him letting kids sit in the car.
14:43 I never realised how aerodynamic Jays head is.
OMG hahahaaha i thought the same thing when i saw that, that big ol chin cutting the wind haha
Nothing beats the raw beauty of all the mechanical sounds from the engine and transmission.
Great interview segment at the end: a day when MEN drove cars and a vivid account of what LeMans drivers faced.
That can be taken the wrong way if you know what I mean. But this was when real drivers drove nonetheless.
@@topsecret1837 The wrong subjects will "take it the wrong way."
jay REALLY means it here...how much he enjoys this car...because he tells you why.......this car represents the era that jay loves best about racing...and it is like going back in time....reliving his wildest dreams....those he must have had as a child....
I loved this car since it was filmed by Petrolicious. Thanks for that i love this video
