"You ain't seen nothin' yet" is another great tune.
Yes i got the album for this song!
Not Fragile is an album without a bad song.
PLEASE PLEASE make sure yall react to Let It Ride!!!! ❤
Yes that was their best one to me
Agree
Oh man, growing up in Canada in the 70s and 80s, this song was everywhere - every road trip, every dock party, every cottage long weekend. A classic for sure - great choice, and awesome reaction as always. Peace and love from up north!
Yep. This was 100% "up at the cottage/trailer" music in the '70s. Literally, that was the first thing that I thought of when listening again to it.
Haa, totally get that! Growing up across the river from you in Detroit in the 70's these guys were in HEAVY rotation (no pun intended haha) on CKLW!! The Greatest station in the History of RADIO..great band.
@@mr.snicker-doodles7081 Dude, that's a blast from the past - we had a cottage in Rondeau Park on Lake Erie when I was a kid, we used to get CKLW when the weather was clear. A lot of great beach days with the radio pumping.
@@dbradx Yo bro! Omg, that sounds amazing. Yep, I listened to CKLW starting in the early 70's on my little transistor radio, haa it was my lifeline. It had such an impact on me, that was where I learned about music, period. To this day still the Greatest Station IN History! And it's not just me and you! There are Docs about it on UA-cam, talking about the good ole days..have a good one MAN! ua-cam.com/video/9uJ83yM48-w/v-deo.html
Wasnt just Canada. It really was everywhere!
"You ain't seen nothing yet" next banger from these guys !
Oh yeah, I remember that one. These guys have a 'no fail' formula.
Yes!
"Let it Ride" from this same album is another rocker . Then the next album "Not Fragile" had 2 more hit tracks with their biggest hit "Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and "Roll On Down the Highway" . Check out their Live at Roseland concert videos . It was a reunion thing that features their best songs . It's well shot & the sound quality is excellent . I really love "Let It Ride" & "Roll On Down the Highway" from that concert vid . . Love these guys because they were a transition band for me (Grand Funk being another major one) growing out of the Pop Music world of 60's AM Radio . It was time to get into some guitar driven rock !
Randy Bachman tells an unbelievable story of how a Pizza Delivery Guy plays the piano in this. He heard them playing the song while delivering and said "would you mind if I tried piano with this" when there was never any piano intended for this song, or indeed, any other BTO song.
Wow, how cool is that! Love it
Great story. I love the thought of that dude being able to tell his kids and grandkids that story. He deserved at least that considering he probably got a hernia carrying all those pizzas
Not true..The guy who played piano was across the hall doing TV commercials and somebody asked him if he could put piano on the song. He went over and did it in one take. His name is Norman Durkee and he played on a lot of sessions back in the day. The pizza man story was made up because BTO liked to eat a lot of pizza and supposedly they wrote down the chords on a pizza box.
@@frankmarsh1159 - just telling you what I saw Randy state during a interview with Rick Beato or The Professor of Rock or one of them. That's the only time I had ever heard about it. So, if he did make it up, he took a lot of time as he explains it in detail.
@@robjohnson5872 From Wikipedia --- The original studio version, recorded at Kaye-Smith Studios in Seattle, Washington, features prominent piano, played by Durkee in one take. While Randy Bachman has repeatedly claimed that Durkee was delivering pizzas to the studio and convinced the band that the song needed a piano part that he could play, leading to a search for Durkee when the band realizes they need to use the performance on the resulting record.
Both Robbie Bachman, media sources and Durkee himself have stated that he was actually at the studio as a musician, recording ads in the next room, when summoned by sound engineer Buzz Richmond.[6] According to this version of events, Durkee had only a few minutes to spare, and, quickly conferring with Randy Bachman, he scribbled down the chords (on a pizza box), and, without listening to the song beforehand, recorded the piano part in one take.[3]
Randy Bachman was in 13 bands but The Guess Who were PRIMO!!!
Hell yeah!
No time 💯🔥
THIS is just everyday pop music in the mid 70s. I miss new music being worth a damn.
Let it Ride (Long Version) / Great Song.
High school times for me ... I'm 67, high school Class of '74 💪😎👍❤️❤️❤️ 😉👍
Even though this was and still is played relentlessly on classic rocks stations…it’s fire! 🔥
BLUE COLLAR is a great one as well!
I look forward to your reactions always!! Thank you!! 🙏🏻
I agree, Blue Collar was kinda under the radar
Blue Collar is their MASTERPIECE
The most unexpected and jazz oriented cut from BTO is called "Blue Collar", {not to be confused with Blue collar Man,} Please check it out. It's much more sophisticated and a real different sound from BTO that I think you will enjoy. Thanks for all your great reactions/reviews!! You two are the best on YT!
“Blue Collar” is my fav BTO song. Very chill.
Most of their other songs I’ve stopped playing in the car, because I drive too fast when I do.
Also Lookin’ Out for # 1. Jazz guitarist Lenny Breau was a friend and neighbor of Randy Bachman in Winnipeg. He was the main influence behind these 2 BTO songs and a huge jazz influence on Randy.
Yeah, I love that song too. La and Che, you need to react to "Blue Collar"!
B-B-B-Baby, "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet"❤🔥
Hey guys we had a steady diet of these guys throughout the 70’s
Let it Ride , Hey You , You ain’t seen nothing yet are must do’s.
Fun fact, lead guitarist Randy Bachman and Neil Young both grew up in Winnipeg. Bachman was two years older and had a popular local band that eventually morphed into The Guess Who. Neil has said: “He was my guitar-playing hero. He had a big influence. The best player in town.”
Actually the best player in town was Lenny Breau who often played in a club that Bachman and Young frequented and was a big influence on Bachman including giving him lessons...
@@coinneachmaclellan3121 I love the Lenny Breau story Randy Bachman tells about them running into each other in the mid-70s, Lenny asking how Randy's doing, Randy telling him how You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet is the biggest song in the world, album sales are breaking records, etc.; and all Lenny says is, "Yeah, man... But are you playing any jazz?"
@@scrivener68 I suppose that "Blue Collar" could qualify as jazz...
@@coinneachmaclellan3121 But better!
I saw BTO in 1973! This was my first concert, and I was about 15! The opening act was some young guy named Bob Seger!
Down Down, Rock is My Life, Rollin Down The Highway
BTO ruled the 70’s! “Roll on down the highway”
back in the 70’s our local hockey team used to play this during fights
These boys were all Mormon, no smoke, no drink, no cuss. But damn they could rock!
😎
I thought it was just Randy and linked to his first marriage? But I don’t really know.
@@itzel1735 I saw an interview of him way back talking about it.
It was just Randy. He married a woman who was Mormon (and she became Canadian citizen). They are now divorced, he’s no longer Mormon and apparently his son renounced as well.
@@SBel65 👍 ok, but he gave the ultimatum to his brother Tim to follow the rules of the band or get out because of drugs, drinking & premarital sex.
Look it up.
let it ride great song by them also Randy Bachman played guitar for the Guess Who
This was the soundtrack to my summer in 1974! The whole record is excellent! Canadian rock’n roll at its finest! Randy Bachman has helped many, many aspiring Canadian musicians over the years, including a handful of my friends.
Peace
Randy Bachman is 80 and he doesn't miss a lick. Very glad I finally got to see him play.
Randy Bachman was the original guitarist of the Winnipeg band The Guess Who, who's biggest hit was probably "American Woman".
Another hit by BTO - You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet - you'll know at least the hook there too
Randy Bachman has a podcast on Sunday night, its real good, and he tell s stories from inside the music business.
My wife and I saw Randy Bachman last month. He still has a fantastic stage presence. His current tour will probably be his last, so go see him if you can.
TCB. Also Let it Ride, You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet, Hey You, Roll on Down the Highway. Party band from Canada’s Middle province Manitoba. 2 brothers Bachman, Randy, who was in the Guess Who, another Canadian Rock Royalty. Any kid born before 1990 in Canada heard this every party, summer, road trip, cottage, at the lake, tailgate, you name it.
BTO was one the biggest hit-makers of the 70's. Guitarist-vocalist Randy Bachman led this group, after earlier spending years with another hit-making hard-rock band, The Guess Who ("American Woman", "No Time", "No Sugar Tonight"). Both bands came out of Canada. You couldn't turn on the radio in the mid 1970's without hearing BTO: "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Looking Out For #1", "Roll On Down The Highway", "Hey You", "Four Wheel Drive", "Take It Like A Man", "Not Fragile"...all constant rotation.
Saw them in concert in 1974. They were awesome!!!❤
BTO has a number of really good songs. They were formerly in the group The Guess Who. One of the better Canadian groups.
The whole" Not Fragile"album rocks.✌️
Soundtrack of my teens, TCB was all over the place, Love BTO🇺🇸❤️🇨🇦💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Remember them rocking out the Colisee de Quebec
Blue Collar is worth a listen, great baseline and vocals by Turner and Bachman's guitar and writing are always great, BTO and Guess Who.
Back in the seventies I had "Not Fragile" and "Four Wheel Drive" on 8-track.
Great reaction guys!! BTO are a Canadian staple - Randy Bachman from Guess Who fame! (another group you need to do a deep dive on!)
Please, PLEASE check Let It Ride - for me it's their best track! Roll On Down The Highway, Ain't See Nothing Yet are two other big hits for them.
As for Guess Who - check American Woman, No Sugar Tonight/Mother Nature, Undun, These Eyes...(you guys already did Shakin' All Over - which was a great start!) Cheers!
They were BIG guys back then we called them Bachman Turner Overweight. But slimmed down. Loved them
BTO had a ton of great songs and hits. also Randy Bachman was originally in the brilliant band The Guess Who, who also had some massive hits like, 'american woman', 'No Sugar tonight' etc. etc. this is a massive rabbit hole.....enjoy - another in a series of great Canadian bands
BTO was a kick ass band. I played with a band out of Birmingham Alabama called 24 Karat, and we had a gig in Harlowes in Atlanta around 1985 or so. BTO came in on a Friday night, and used our PA system. We opened up for them, and when they took the stage, it was the best our sound system ever sounded. They did the best version of Mississippi Queen I've ever heard that night. Big dudes, we called em Tons of fun, but damnit they rocked that night.
They were My First concert in the"70s" 😍😍😍!!
This song was a huge hit here in Canada. TCB Baby!!
Randy Bachman is amazing. He was also in The Guess Who. They also had a string of hits. One of my favorites is "Clap For The Wolfman" about their friend, the legendary DJ, Wolfman Jack!
SCTV had a little sideshow called The Fishin' Musician based on the line in this song. Had rock acts in funny fishing situations.
I saw BTO in concert. People were dancing in the aisles all night. Blown is a favorite of mine. Also Welcome Home. Which has a great jazz break in in the middle of some hard rock riffs. Lots of hits some great stuff less known
This is one of the great songs from the 70’s I love it always have, feel like dancing now thanks guys.
Nice Canadian Rockers. Now we're all in rocking chairs ✨️🙏✨️
Great reaction gentlemen. I'll date myself and let you know I had four 8 Track Tapes of BTO. Here's some more great songs. "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care of Business", "Hey You" and "Roll on Down the Highway".
Bachman was an old school rocker back in the early days of The Guess Who. The band would plays covers of all the big hits at their shows. One day they saw Gordon Lightfoot perform and realized the real money was in writing and performing your own material. It worked.
Bachman was ultra straight and Burton Cummings (the lead singer) was a party animal. The conflict finally led to Bachman leaving and creating his own bands. The first didn't succeed butt he second was BTO. They did alright.
BTO. It was my very first concert when I was 17. I loved it, and I was hooked.
This song was so huge that on top of everything else, it was the on-hold music for Office Depot for years and years, lol.
BTO had a bunch of hits and all of their music is just so fun and easy to relate to. You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet. You've really got to check that out. Let It Ride, the long version, is also a super classic. A smaller hit for them and one that I always really liked because I learned it in the very first band I played in in high school that wasn't related to school, Tramp. It's got this cool circular thing going on in the structure of it.
Another banger reaction gentleman. Can’t go wrong from anything from BTO. The Bachman brothers Randy, Robbie,Tim (RIP) and the great Fred Turner on bass. Randy and Fred are the only surviving members. Legendary song and band. Keep up the great work La and Che…
On this song you have
Randy Bachman. Lead vocals/lead guitar
Tim Bachman Guitar / vocals
Rob Bachman. Drums
FC. Turner. Bass / vocals
** Norman Durkee (pizza delivery guy) piano *
BTO has a great catalog of music
And yeah pizza delivery guy played piano on this song, Norman later became a composer in the Seattle area
They played this band so much on the radio in Canada during the mid-1970s that you could hardly switch stations without hearing BTO on at least one, and often on two stations at a time. I was never a huge fan, though these guys certainly knew how to write an infectious melody with a great hook, and the lead guitar solos were always on the money. They did have a few songs I really quite liked, such as:
- Blue Collar
- Let It Ride
- Roll On Down the Highway
- You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet
- Free Wheelin'
- Lookin' Out for #1
Blue Collar is a really cool, laid back tune, and Free Wheelin' is a stunning instrumental. These are my two favourites.
My very first concert - 1979 Sioux City Iowa!
Now, go watch Homer Simpson harass BTO while they are playing this song.
😅😅😅😅
No old crap! Play Taking Care of Business right now!
Their “best of…” album is fantastic. Many hits, and definitely worth a listen.
i saw bachman n turner on a rock legends cruise a few years back they were great live.some of their other great songs are, second hand(my favorite bto song)blue collar, take it like a man, lookin out for #1,not fragile.
Love this song! My favorite from BTO, had the dance floor full every time.
It's also a perfect concert song to get the crowd into it. Just a catchy tune with lots of energy.
Also a big fav with bar bands, always getting the crowd onto the dance floor.
High school memories.
BTO was a big group back in the day. Lots of songs you should check out. Loved your reaction guys.🎶💕🦋
Oh, this came out when I was in high school in Australia. Such a great song, I also love You ain’t seen Nothing Yet!
Canada's original garage band.
Good old fashioned bluesy rock and roll. These guys inspired a lot of young Canadian musicians
These guy's have some great songs. The best rock band to ever come out of Canada.
Rush, The Band, Bryan Adams etc... Canada goes deep
Let it ride is a must hear!!!
Yo, I really dig your new intro.
This is my high school "Wake and Bake" theme every morning!!!!
Needed that "Mota"vation. 😉☕😎✌️🎸🎵👏🇺🇸
One of my favorite songs by BTO is "Blue Collar".
Hey guys, love the reviews! BTO does have more bangers. You guys need to check these songs out next, Let it Ride, You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet, and Roll on Down the Highway. Keep up the good work fellas!
As far as making the charts goes, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” was their biggest hit making it to Number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 in the fall of 1974.
My hometown boys from Winnipeg, Canada 🇨🇦
Randy Bachman was in the Guess Who. He left the band and formed BTO. This is definitely driving to the cabin music for sure.
They have a number of hits.
You Ain't seen nothing yet
Blue Collar
Not Fragile
Let it Ride
Rollin Down the Highway
to name a few.
I would love if you got back on reacting to the Rush albums as well. I believe the next album is Fly by Night
Cheers 🇨🇦
A personal favorite of mine from BTO is "Lookin’ Out for No. 1". I hope you guys react to that song.
LOTS of hits!! also the Guess Who (Randy Bachmann).
Great reaction guys! You must try "Blue Collar" from them. Some seriously great guitar work on it.
Back in the day, when I had a 'fro and wore pinstripe bell bottoms, I saw BTO in St. Louis. This was a BANGER. Glad you guys got a taste.
Makes me think of my singing buddy back in the day. He loved this song. I know he's rockin' it in heaven heaven now! Love this song!
You should give Rock is My Life a shot. Every rock groups journey... by BTO.
So glad you did this. Memories of a misspent youth in the 1970’s. BTO are great. Randy Bachman is great. They have many other good songs. You should checkout Blue Collar for some of the best guitar from this time.
You may or may or may not know that Randy Bachman was also in the Guess Who, playing lead guitar and wrote or co-wrote many hits for them. Most notably American Woman a song covered quite well by Lenny Kravitz.
Last but not least check out a radio show/podcast called Randy’s vinyl tap where he explores music thematically, pulling together important songs and music from historical sources to explain historical developments in music. He has encyclopedic knowledge of music going back many decades.
I love listening to you guys. Especially prog rock, Yes, Genesis, Rush etc. I’ve seen most of them live Yes 5 times Genesis 3 times, Queen 5 times. A slightly obscure band called Renaissance. Even more obscure band called Steeleye Span that recreated songs from the 18th and 19th century in an electric/acoustic way Consider checking out an American Slide guitarist Ry Cooder. Superb songwriter with a great band. His album Jazz is a monumental piece of work.
Lookin' Out For Number One is another good one....
Best Pizzaman piano story ever. If anyone knows about, as told by Randy Bachman. To make a long story short, they ordered pizza while recording this track, the guy who delivered the pizza, sat a piano while the band was taking a break, and came up with the piano part. Genius
Let it ride
A constant on my road list.
" Let it Ride" is a great song by them!😎
Great reaction! Try their song "Let It Ride"
When Burton Cummings left The Guess Who Randy Bachman started a new group Buchman Turner Overdrive. They had several hits with You Ain't Seen Nuthin' Yet being there biggest. #1 in 22 countries. I'm sure you've heard at least a part of it. Randy's concert DVD "Every Song Tells A story" is a fun watch. He tells a little story about how each song came about. Fun stuff. Well, looks like the Oakland A's are moving to Sacramento for a while starting next year. I'm going to a couple of games this year and I'd like go a couple of time up there just for the heck of it. Have a great day!
Just about every bar and jukebox played this throughout the 70s I remember it all too well even during the times I didn’t remember it Great Song I forgot it a nice tasty little guitar solo in there
I once commented on a video on how they were way ahead of their time. RANDY BACHMAN actually commented back!!!
I saw the Guess Who on their Runnin' Back Through Canada tour way back when, and they played some BTO songs as well, because why not? Anyway, Burton Cummings introduced Randy Bachman's performance of this song by saying something like, "You could go to the most remote jungle village in the world, play two seconds of this song, and some five-year-old kid will go, 'Hey! Takin' Care of Business!' "
we used to do the Alligator dance at parties to this song... so entertaining
Great Canadian rockers. Randy Bachman, lead singer on this tune and lead guitar. Many big hits also with The Guess Who. Fred Turner, bass player also sings lead with a strong husky voice. Suggest you try Roll Down the Highway to hear that sound.
There's a great vid of them on stage doing Blue Collar. They're a little older, but they can still get down.
Yes yes I sing your intro every time, great channel guys.
"You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" is by far my favorite BTO song.
LOOKING OUT FOR #1.
From BTO 1st album
"Hold back the Water"
"Blue Collar"
Another one of those albums in every college dorm record collection in those days!
Morning, fellas. Such a huge, popular song.
This was my first Single I ever bought - 9 years old. You Aint Seen Nothing Yet on the B side
Oh my ❤️….you guys are great!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The chillest mellowest coolest laid back tune they did IMHO is ' Blue Collar '
