The full track of Jean from Efdemin Various - Split Label: Dial Catalog#: dialrec 10 Format: Vinyl, 12" Country: Germany Released: 2002 Genre: Electronic Style: House, Minimal, Acoustic
Best track from Efdemin (with his other track "Technicolor" released on the same EP). I've always been wondering why I mostly love electronic tracks released in the early 2000s. Now I understand the main reason : that was the period when the sound design could be clicky (ours souls inspired by computers and the early years of the internet) and lo-fi/dusty at the same time (because high definition, that unfortunately tends to give to pictures and sounds a botox/plastic feeling sometimes, was not born yet). This contrast was for me one of the most intelligent things that this scene has ever lived. It nearly sounds as if the computer is used as a noble timeless acoustic instrument, not just a powerful software generating vulgar electronic sounds. Electronic music has never sounded so meticulous, soft, gentle, cutting-edge and romantic since then. Early Dial and Kompakt have been for me the Baudelaires of the electronic scene back in the days. Well, at least for my humble sensiblity.
I agree with your point there. If you want to check out what, in my opinion, is the masterpiece of this feeling you describe, then listen to Dntel - Life Is Full Of Possibilities from 2001. One of my most important records of all time.
7 years after my first comment, back to reaffirm that this track remains a gem. Like a call from an old friend.
